This made me cry a bit because what if she relies on it for mental health reasons, like depression, and cooking a healthy meal regularly is hard? What if she lives with chronic pain? Or works so many hours she doesn't have time to pick up the ingredients and she still wants to eat a nutritious meal instead of fast food? Or hell, she could just prefer it because it helps balance her portioning and intake.

He can make his own meals. He lacks any consideration for her and her needs and it's all about him, clearly.

Who knows the actual situation. Maybe he does almost all of the chores and just wants her to make food.

But what’s the chance of that! Sounds more like someone who thinks she should do all the housework because it’s “a woman’s job”.

Bottom line, if he wants different food he should cook it himself. Even if she doesn’t like his cooking, they can just make separate meals. I did that with my parents a lot as a teen. I didn’t want what they made so I just cooked my own food which they were fine with as long as I bought the ingredients and cleaned up after.

Regardless of what the best solution is, you need to talk things out, not just cancel something. I don’t remember if he said she was paying for the meal kit or him. Even if he was paying for it, it would be his right to cancel but just doing that without talking and agreeing just leads to more arguments and making things worse. Communication is the cornerstone of any proper relationship. If you can’t communicate, no matter how good anything else is, it’s never going to turn out great.
