In my early 20s, I had no interest in dating men in their 40s. I dated a couple of men that were 5 to 10 years older than me when i was between 16-18. And you know what? They caused me some of the most trauma in my life. OLDER MEN THAT GO FOR MUCH YOUNGER WOMEN AND TEENAGERS ARE PREDATORS. End of. They seriously only go with women in those age groups because that is when they are most vulnerable.

While there are the rare exceptions, most older men who pursue relationships with younger women are seeking a power imbalance, someone who doesn’t have a strong sense of self so they can mold her into the woman they want. There is a lot of predatory behavior from older men, and they target younger women who are too polite or reserved to advocate for themselves. I’ve worked several jobs where I was in charge of a group of women in their early 20s and sometimes even teens, and the number of men that I had to aggressively remove from bothering my staff was insane. These guys seriously wouldn’t back off unless I threatened to grab the bouncer, or I got all up in their face and was physically intimidating towards them.

My whole life I’ve been disgusted by older men. It is only recently in my mid thirties that I’ve begun to find George Clooney’s earlier work (when he was closer to my current age) more appealing. It has ALWAYS been blatantly obvious that what these nasty men really wanted was my naïveté and my lack of boundaries, confidence, and experience.

Why would a young, fit woman want to be with some old dude with ED, grey pubes, and joints so bad he can’t keep up with her? Why settle for a old guy who struggles to stay fit when a guy closer to his age can nearly effortlessly maintain a comparatively superior physique? Why would a young, beautiful woman full of hope and vitality want to be tainted with the cynicism and jadedness that comes with age? No one is more entitled than older men - why put up with them when you could have a fun young guy you can take anywhere? When I was in my 20s I wanted to go to music festivals and EDM shows and bars - the guys I dated within 3 years of my age were all able to keep up with me and effortlessly fit in. Every chick around me always became palpably uncomfortable when some guy way too old to be there was too close, pretending to be young.

Older guys are gross. Young ones are fun and in far better shape. We make our own money now - which means we don’t have to lower our standards and give up on an old guy in order to be financially secure. We do that on our own, and we only want a man around if he brings something to the table.

I don’t want a guy who makes me feel young. I want someone I can be young with, who gets my cultural references, and shares a similar childhood era that we can relate over. The last thing I want is some shlub talking down to me because he thinks age confers wisdom. If he was wise he wouldn’t still be chasing youth for youth’s sake.

A few years ago, in my mid twenties, was on a dating app. The oldest scrote who liked my profile was 67!!! Over 40 years age gap… I was everything but attracted 😂😂😂

First, I was amused, because hahaha grandpa, are you for real? Then, I was puzzled, because what is he going to do with me with that age difference? And then I was immediately horrified by the fact that he’s out there, liking and writing to women my age and very likely even younger ones. It’s disgusting, sleazy and ridiculous. Only one of us ever had an age gap relationship and it actually led to a happy marriage and kids. She was 25 and he was 33 when they got married. The only time I went for an older guy (pickmeish)… I just turned 29, he had looked my way (no creepy up and down crap) but was always courteous and respectful. He kept a whole person’s worth of space between us when dancing… we laughed a lot. I expressed that I felt chemistry. He expressed hesitation about the age. We talked. He was right about the age thing, but we broke up as he couldn’t make enough time for me and I was realistic that I still wanted to have more adventures in life. Overall it was a good 2-year experience. He had not dated for 8 years.

But all the other creeps who think they are smooth (the pervs, late blooming family men) no way in hell.

I've thought about this a lot since finding FDS. When I was younger, I always had crushes on older men (celebrities or whatever) and thought age gaps were "hot." But then any time an older man hit on me, he was gross (in behavior and/or appearance.) They were sweaty or inarticulate or rude. So the fantasy NEVER lived up to the reality.

There are no suave, intelligent, attractive men worth dating in their 40s chasing after 20 year olds. If they are it's because no woman their own age will put up with their shit.

Before FDS and my eyes being opened I dated an older guy. Red flags all over the place (all the usual ones you'd expect) and I quickly got out. When I was catching up with a mutual friend a year later, he told me about the amount of young women my 'ex' had been getting through and that he has been fired from his job for sexual harassment and now can't get a job because of this.
