As a 22 years old male (admittedly pretty young), I have a hard time believing that men only want sex. I certainly want a relationship. My high school guy friends all wanted a relationship. All my male college friends all wanted romance in their life or were already in a relationship. Same could be said about my online friends. Even guys I consider mere acquaintances are the same way. So how could this discrepancy exist?

After some thinking, I've reached a conclusion. For women who see men as aromantic, understand that it's not that they don't want relationships. It's that Men Only Want Sex FROM YOU. And tbh, it's kinda reasonable. I didn't come to understand this until I fell out of love with a girl. Eventually I realized that the only reason I still tolerated/hung out with her was because I had easy access to sex for the first time. But I could never see myself in a committed relationship with her long-term. I wish I could still love her but I didn't anymore.

Love is a great feeling to feel. Why wouldn't somebody enjoy an inherently positive emotion? The only people who hate feeling love are people who are afraid to fall in love again after feeling heartbroken an emotionally scarred.

The problem is the feeling of love isn't easy to come by but lust is ever-present. Yet both finding a worthy romantic partner and finding a sexual partner are rare. So men will jump onto every opportunity where they have the slightest bit of leverage just so that they can have sex. So these men will jump onto dating apps or "friendships" with women hoping for (but not expecting) love but while knowing they'll willingly settle for sex (even if that means telling a few lies since sex is also less than expected).

Since many women have an abundance of sex options, it's easy for them to drop a failed romantic prospect. But when male romantic hopefuls realize that the person they're dating isn't "the one", they stay for the sex. When things do eventually end, the truth comes out that the man didn't love her (sometimes this will come out in an angry, insulting fashion where the guy calls her boring/annoying). But what the women won't see is that the man did actually hope for romance at the very beginning. So from the woman's perspective, he's just another player who only wants sex.

Statistically, most romantic prospects won't turn out to be "the one" where reciprocated love is present. So you can imagine that many women have experienced this many times.
