Story time: Every single one of my bfs has stared down other woman. And I’ve heard every excuse from “it’s a biological need!” to “women are like cars, you don’t mind when I check out a cool new car”.

My last relationship was much better, but only because I lay down my boundaries at the outset.

We were on a train and I saw him give the old up and down to an attractive woman asking a question to the conductor. So I cheerfully pulled him closer to me and said “every time you stare or ogle or break your neck to look at a woman, I’m going to lose my attraction for you. And before you say your staring is biological, let me remind you that my attraction to you is biological. I literally cannot bring it back when it’s gone. What you do next is up to you”. Then I smiled and went back to my book.

We dated for 1 year and I never had a problem with him looking at other women. Of course, it was all his choice, he knew he had to work to keep me interested ;) this probably won’t work with men who have greater senses of entitlement to women’s bodies, but better to leave them as soon possible.

So....women BIOLOGICALLY NEED to check out (preferably naked) men ALL THE TIME. And fuck as many of them, too.

Um... biologically it makes sense for women to be the ones "spinning plates", not men. That's how it works time and time again in nature with a large number of species. The female gains little from letting the male screw over by chasing him, then sitting back as he chases other females, sharing his resources with them. It doesn't even really benefit men to chase multiple women when it comes right down to it- that takes time and money (which is why lvm skirt chasers are so cheap and paranoid about gold diggers).

(Note: I am not supporting polyamory or anything, just correcting his terrible reasoning and understanding of biology.)

It’s definitely humorous how idiotic some men AND women can be. (I’ve also heard women defend men with the same “it’s biological speech”) However, when you look at the deeper implications of people perpetuating this mindset it’s pretty scary.. THIS is why women are so often raped and sexually assaulted. THIS is why so many men get away with rape and sexual assault. It makes me think we have a duty to not procreate with idiots.
