Being a homemaker is more than a full time job and it allows the man the free time to earn and supports their ability to progress in their career. The homemaker is giving up educational & career opportunities, progression, benefits, pension, status, security etc. It damn well should be well remunerated and normally it isn't. Men will happily take these household (and other) services for free and you get no compensation for your lost career, earnings, time, damage to your body etc

I personally wouldn't want to be in that role bc you're then at the mercy of the man, should things go south. Doesn't matter how rich he is. I prefer to rely on myself and not be beholden to a man, trapped in a gilded cage. You will get treated like shit bc you weren't the earner.

A stay-at-home mother's labor is worth about $115,000 every year on average according to Business Insider (and that's the 2013 value, inflation-adjusted that's nearly $140k today!), and women do that sh!t for these ungrateful roach-men for FREE. With no benefits, no retirement matching, no vacation days, no sick time, nothing! For FREE!!! It's enough to make my head spin.

Given that, $12,500 alimony per month ($150k per year) forever is a fair rate.

I have two small children, one with special needs, who I look after 100% of the time (their dad just saw them for the first time in two years, he came to where we live (the kids and I were facing homelessness when he left us so had to move in with my mom) he was here for two weeks and saw them for 6 nights out of that time).

Our divorce is not yet settled as my ex husband is dragging his feet, but according to the laws where I am the amount of child support he has to pay is 16% of his pre tax earnings. SIXTEEN PERCENT. Less than a fifth, for two children. Meanwhile he earns probably 3 times what I do, and I spend a huge proportion of my income on rent, groceries, clothes, school uniform, extracurricular activities, daycare costs, as well as doing 100 percent of the bedtimes, school runs, cooking dinner, house keeping, doctors appointments, etc etc etc while he has zero responsibilities and lives the life he's always wanted. And yet I am sure his narrative is somehow some version of "poor me"

Back in the day I remember casually browsing a mens rights activist sub, and a divorce lawyer (not himself an MRA) did an AMA. It was hilarious—the lawyer was out of his depth; they’d ask, why do women fuck men over so much? He’d try to explain the concept of lost opportunity and wages that the alimony system is supposed to be recompense for. Why do men have to pay more child support? Well, because if they aren’t living with the kid and supporting them financially in person, they should be supporting the financially in some form, it’s only right as a parent. Why do judges side with women? They dont side with women, the side with who can best support the child; but most of the time men just don’t show up to court, prove to be irresponsible in some way, and cannot prove they are willing and able to provide for the child. Just statistically speaking.

Like, women could be made to pay alimony or child support too, it just doesn’t happen because a majority of the time men are the ones making money while the wife spends her prime years taking care of the home/kids and not growing her own wealth or career.

2) They want a non-college educated AND religious girl, because she’s more likely to be subservient. In the case of her not having higher education, it’ll be more difficult for her to find a job (financial independence) in case things go south with her “husband”, causing her to stay with him for financial security (if these men can even provide that). Christian girls are also often taught to stay with abusive men because it’s THEIR job to make the “family whole”. I would know this as I was raised as a Catholic. These men just want women who won’t leave them no matter how abusive they are. Note that they do not see women as equals in the relationship. Instead, they view women as objects they can use and discard.

I don't know either of these people, but commonly the reason the woman gets so much in divorce is because

A) she can prove she was the sole caretaker of the children and the house

B) can prove she played a big role in his successes.

C) can prove he was a cheater, an abuser, or anything along those lines.

Women who stay at home and tend to the house and kids makes it possible for their partner to be able to go out an make all that money, build their career, etc. Men hate to admit it, but capitalism relies on the unpaid Menial labor of women. If men HAD to pay us for taking care of their house and kids, the economy would crash.

Men forget that taking care of home and kids is a 24/7 job. And if they are told "hey, you should do housework too, or maybe give her a day off for herself" they lose their minds! "You get days off too, right?" "Yea, but my coworkers cover those days, not my wife!" Uhhuh... and who the fuck do you think your wife's coworker is, hm? YOU.
