4) Cheating is not the only reason why someone would take off his wedding ring! I've worked jobs where it is not recommended that you wear any rings. For instance, working with product on a moving conveyor belt is dangerous that way. I had a coworker lose her finger because she wouldn't take of her wedding set at work.

I had a very long post ready to make about how badly I felt that even here on what's supposed to be sub for men to speak out, men are censored if they say anything offensive to feminists in some effort to get them to hate us less, as if such were possible. I've been in enough of these types of discussions to know it would be a futile effort. I guess we all just need to get used to where we are, because trying to fight back with both hands tied behind our back, blindfolded won't yield good results.

As for the branding ring being "just a joke"...this reminds me of something else that was "just a joke". The Cherry Bomb T-Shirts with the bloody hammer and the caption "she was asking for it". That 'joke' drew a lot of protests from women who didn't appreciate it. None of them seemed to have a problem with the T-shirt that had the bloody scissors and the caption "he had it coming".

I see two big issues with this. First, something like this but where a man brands 'his woman' would be shot down like crazy with claims of sexism. Second, is this really sexist against men, or are the marketers behind this just playing off women who feel themselves in a vulnerable relationship (much like the marketing behind paternity test aimed at men)*.

*Statistics do show that people who feel themselves in a vulnerable relationship are far more likely to actually be cheated on, so I don't want to say that everyone who feels this way is merely being paranoid. For example, only a few percentage of women attempt paternity fraud on the husband having some other man's baby, but of the men who actively feel the need to go and check to see if the baby is theirs, the rate rises far closer to 40%. I would guess the same applies when you consider men who cheat on their wife.

It's an interesting idea - since when women know a man is in a relationship, they find him MORE attractive. The more serious the relationship, the greater the increase in attraction. So something stupid like this may actually work for a guy if he was gonna cheat when he had one on.
