This seems to have been a common take by women in the post on opposite-sex friendships that was recently posted.

It's not a perspective that really makes sense to me since I, and I think most people, are not personally interested in most other people. By that logic everyone would be dehumanizing everyone.

Men and women are different so it makes sense that some people would only be interested in platonic friendships with the same sex. Plenty of women aren't interested in having platonic male friends and I rarely see them ever get any flak for it.

I think if a man treats you with the same common decency that he would treat anyone else with, and recognizes and values women's skills and accomplishments in the appropriate professional/academic contexts, then he is treating you with the baseline level of respect that people generally show to other people.
