Think your perspective or take on it is a little off. It's not as much a line of thinking of, "I had better gf her up, IDK when I'll find a new person to sleep with me..." as it is, "Wow, I'm getting laid now, we get along together, I don't wish her to leave... Why end this!?"

It’s sad to me that there are people that get into relationships just to have consistent sex, but yeah, it probably happens quite a bit among men. I’m guessing that there are women who get into relationships just so they can feel someone of the opposite sex likes them as a person, too.

And yes, I think that getting into a relationship just for or even primarily for sex is a bad thing.

I'd say a good 20-30% of guys I know in relationships jump into relationships with the first woman they find that gives them attention. The rest actually vet their partners and select one that's for them.

I think it's really common, though those guys perhaps think it may work or simply find her way more attractive due to the dry spell.

I've been there, honestly. Not getting in the relationships for the sex, at least not in a conscious level, but breaking it up after realizing that sex was all I was valuing in those relationships.

I would say it's more often about having a relationship dry spell. Your average guy can go years without having anyone interested in them that they have any sort of attraction to. So you end up with: "Shes into me and this might by my last good chance for a long time so might as well try and make this work."

It's a myth. If a guy is sticking around just for the sex, it must be very exceptional sex. I guess that could be a thing, but I'd wager it's pretty rare because if a couple isn't into each other any more, the sex is going to suffer.

And if a guy got that girl, he thinks he can get another.

I think there are men who stay in relationships because they are getting enough of what they want to not leave. How many? No idea. But a ton of people are kind of inert when it comes to relationships. Maybe they are not thrilled but they have figured out the minimum required to keep in going and they calculate leaving and starting something new will require more effort so they stay.

As even women here freely admit, only the top <whatever> percentage of guys are good enough to get free pussy (i.e. casual sex/hookups) except a handful of times when the stars are aligned just right. The rest of men can only get consistent sex within a relationship. Often, their dry spells between relationships can last many months to years. This is the reality for the majority of men.

It’s extremely common among my friend group alone. Through the years men have not only been in relationships with us just because we’re the only ones who would give them sex, but because we would cook and clean for them. Which I learned to not do for a man anymore unless it’s reciprocated.

There’s a term for these types of women: place holders. You’re a placeholder until the woman he really wants comes along and he can drop you or until he gets enough confidence to be the fuckboi he always wanted to be.

I don’t know why none of the comments are factoring in STDs and birth control. Even the guys that can pull a new girl every weekend aren’t always going to do that because it’s a hassle. When you find a girl that you don’t have to use a condom with and cross your fingers you don’t catch herpes, you tend to stay with that.

Very common. Especially the more and more men who learn about how things currently are in the environment, a lot of them are gripping by the fingertips to their relationships. This is what allows female strategy groups like FDS a lot of leverage, far more than any before.

I would say not that common. Childfree is still the minority. By far the most common reason I see people get into marriages is that they want kids and know that being married parents creates the best environment for them.

People here are seriously lowballing this, I think it's actually the norm for the Average and below guys.

Almost all my male friends latch on to the first girl that lets them stick it in them and try to stay with them as long as possible even if they know they're not really for them, this is because they know if they break up, it could be years before they have sex again. Hell I used to do this when I was younger but went through a spell of several BPD women to put me very much in the "very carefully vet" camp when dating.

I think among young average guys, the number is probably 50% if not higher, among below average guys, probably like 70%. The thing is also they aren't consciously thinking this, but it is very much a part of their decision. I know many of my friends, coworkers etc would not have stayed in the relationships they're in or were in for so long if they knew they had more options.
