From 18 to about 25, I slept with 50+ women with a few relationships mixed in.

It was in fact amazing at first. Within a year of graduating from high school, I slept with around 20 girls. Then I was in a relationship for a while.

Then we broke up and I had another run sort of like freshman year on a smaller scale. It was great but probably not as exciting as the first time. Then I got in another relationship.

We eventually broke up, and the cycle repeated again. And again. Each time, it was less of a thrill until I was 25 and suddenly had an epiphany that all my friends were getting into relationships and casual sex no longer provided any real thrill. I would still do it since I was single, but it became more of a practical thing. I was single and wanted to have sex, so I needed someone to have sex with. That was it. It no longer served as validation.

So if it's something you want to experience, then yeah you should absolutely experience it. I don't regret it at all. You might just find that past a certain point, it's not as great as you imagine.

I hope you get out west. It's got lovely natural scenery, especially in the PNW. You know where I live, and one of the things I miss the most about where I was born is the clean, easily breathable air. Yeah, I was surprised it has been so low for so long too, especially since my friends throughout elementary school, middle school, and high school all seemed to be cut (and they wouldn't let me forget I was different from them). One of my favorite comments I got, around first or second grade, was, "Your penis looks like a faucet."

Later, just before middle school, two friends told me that my penis looked nasty and that no girl would ever want to touch it. Now I find it hilarious (not to mention Americocentric), but at the time, I was so embarrassed and insecure that I asked my parents if they could get me a circumcision appointment ASAP. I don't even remember what they said, but I think it was something to the effect that they wouldn't schedule the appointment, and that I should wait till I'm 18 if I really wanted to do it. I'm forever grateful that they pushed back against my dumbass preteen self.

I know people rave about the nature of the West and I'm sure it's every bit as impressive as it's talked up to, but it's not really me. I absolutely love the Midwest grittiness. The industrial districts I walk through, even the smell. I love industrial music and I just kind of identify with it spiritually, whether it's the aesthetic or sounds. The old concrete brutalist buildings, alongside art deco buildings, next to neighborhoods full of craftsman and Victorian and Italiante housing. The trains and ports It's just a ✨ vibe ✨

There's nothing like winter here, even if nature is better there.

And thanks about my uncle though it's been like a decade now. My mom and I mostly thought it was funny as fuck, he already had his kids so like who was he trying to impress? It was completely optional, god knows wtf got into him. AFAIK my dad and brother are circumcised though 🫤 though from what I've read, the status of the father is one of the biggest influences for what happens to the son.

I looked into why the circumcision rates have declined so much and never really found any info. I was thinking maybe it was the Asian/immigrant influence and maybe the crunchy types but idk if that's big enough to cause that kind of change. I'm guessing you moved to the West Coast from somewhere else?

I love industrial music too. Since you like it and puppies, surely you know that Skinny Puppy was from my region (Vancouver, BC). I feel like Seattle used to be gritty and bricky until all the sterile new gentrifying buildings rose up out of nowhere over the past 15 years or so.

Actually no, I did not move to the West Coast from elsewhere. I was born there (indeed, the fourth generation born there on my dad's side). My mom however was a Midwest transplant (from the easternmost part that gave us all the astronauts). I'd like to get to know her region better.

Curious to know, however, why you thought I was born outside the West Coast.

And yeah, my dad was circ'd. I'm glad he was willing to break the cycle; mom also saw no reason to get it done to us.

It sounds like Latino immigrants have been a big part of circumcision rates going down, and I'm grateful to them for it. All the more reason I was glad for my son to be born in Mexico (minimal risk of "accidental" circumcision).

As I said, I look back on the genital shaming and find it hilarious. I couldn't be happier that I was not able to give into the peer pressure.

I've seen photos of Seattle and honestly places like that don't bother me too much but maybe that's because the residential neighborhoods still have so much of the old housing stock I like so much. Relatively speaking it's still a relatively older city compared to like Las Vegas or something. I think the retro-futuristic aesthetic is very cool. I'm a huge fan of artists like Simon Stålenhag and from what I've seen of Seattle it kind of gives similar vibes. It's way too rainy (barometric pressure issues galore) and expensive for me anyway though. I really need an arid climate with stable weather, which is the exact opposite of what I like lol.

I thought you were born outside of the West Coast because of the circumcision situation. If kids were making fun of you for not being circumsized but as of the 80s most boys weren't circumsized then I would have thought most of your peers would also be uncut. That's interesting that your parents broke the cycle. Most people just do what they know and never really think about it any deeper than that.

That makes sense about the Catholic influence although tbh I was today years old when I learned that not circumcising is a Catholic practice as well. But yeah... kids can be cruel.

That's not the son's choice. You don't own the penis (or any part of the body) of your child.

The consequences of circumcision can be... complicated. Even for me, for which circumcision was a success, I probably have less sensitivity than most people with my dick, and orgasm can be difficult.

And I'm what you could consider a circumcision success story. Being jewish, I heard of circumcision failures, and I don't wish that on my worst enemy.

But even if there was no bad consequences to circumcision at all, it doesn't change the simple fact that you can't just cut a part of your child's body without his consent. His body, his choice. He should take this decision himself when he's able to.

Please do not do like my parents and believe you own the body of your son. He is his own person. He should take his own decisions regarding his genitals.

If you don't want to circumcise, don't.

I was robbed of that choice, don't rob your son of his.

For the same reason it's OK for women to cry in public but men get laughed at. For the same reason men are expected to intervene if someone's getting attacked but women aren't. For the same reason news reports on disasters & bombings mention how many women & children died but not men. For the same reason men sacrifice themselves on the front line & women stay at home.

That reason being men are seen as disposable & inherently lesser than women. When a woman sleeps with many men she's reducing her value by associating with lots of lesser value individuals. When a man sleeps with many women he's increasing his value by associating with lots of greater value individuals. Men taint women. Women enrich men.

In this scenario, do I know she thinks that? Or does she tell me I'm her best and initiates enthusiastic sex with me regularly?

Out of the dozens of women I've been with, some have been better in bed than my girlfriend. But she doesn't know that. I would never tell her that. Some of the ones who really stand out the most were short-term and weren't girls I actually wanted to date. I am 100% happier being with my girlfriend, and the sex is still really good.

That's because my girlfriend is still way over my threshold for good sex. I have zero regrets. The woman who wrote that post picked a man who was under her threshold. That was a mistake.

edit- I'll use an analogy. I used to think champagne sucks. But it turns out that's because I was drinking shitty sparkling wine that wasn't even real champagne or Trader Joe's cheap champagne. Then my girlfriend and I started trying some real champagnes. I realized that if I was willing to spend $60-75, then can get some stuff that I really enjoy drinking.

Then recently I was at an event where I got to try Dom Perignon. It was the best champagne I've ever tried. Definitely better than my favorite $60-75 bottles. That being said, I'll still happily drink those bottles. They're not Dom, but they're really fucking good. But I won't drink the bottom shelf sparkling wine. I'd rather just have water.

That's how most people are with most things. It doesn't have to be the absolute best they've ever had for them to enjoy it, but it has to be good enough.

That's where the hypothetical kind of falls apart. Most people don't inform their partner that they aren't the best. The guy who's the subject of that post doesn't know either. She's anonymously telling people on reddit, not her husband.

Most men and most women have been with someone who's better in bed than their spouse. The typical couple is made up of two people who have both had better. For the average person who's had 4-6 partners, there's a 17-25% that their spouse is the best one in bed. The woman you marry probably won't be your best, but I suggest you keep that to yourself.

Even though most people aren't their spouse's best, most people don't know that. If someone's spouse actually tells them that, then yes that's going to hurt. There's no way around that.

But again, that's not the situation in that post. His wife anonymously told people on reddit, not him.

Let me ask a clarifying question. Which of these two scenarios are we talking about?

My wife let me have sex with her when we were dating and in the early years of our marriage, but she never really initiated or seemed enthusiastic about it. Now we rarely have sex at all. I find out somehow that she's had better sex in the past, that our sex "doesn't do anything" for her, and that she's really bothered by how unfulfilling it is. That's the scenario from the post.
My wife initiates sex with me on a regular basis now just like she did when we were dating. She's adventurous and enthusiastic in bed and we have sex all the time. I find out somehow that even though she loves having sex with me, she would probably rank me just below this one guy she was with for a while.

Neither scenario is going to induce a "happy" feeling, but my reaction will differ between the two.

Women don't dislike low n count. For casual sex and short term, a man with a count of 1 is just as desirable as a man with a count of 12. For long term, a man with a count of 1 is significantly more desirable than a man with a count of 12.

It's also worth noting that n count plays a tiny role in how desirable men are rated by women. A high-mate-value (i.e., attractive) man is rated as much, much more desirable than a low-mate-value (i.e., unattractive) man, regardless of n count. Women have an extreme preference for a high-mate-value virgin over a low-mate-value man with a count of 1 or 12.

A lot of guys seem to get cause and effect wrong. Past a certain age, a man is generally a virgin because women don't like him. It's not that women don't like him because he's a virgin. He's a virgin because women don't like him.

Worth noting that results are pretty consistent for men. Men strongly prefer a high-n, high-mate-value woman over a low-n, low-mate-value woman. All else equal, both genders prefer lower n count, but but mate value is far more important.

Take a look again at the graphic. Among high-mate-value men, desirability scores for casual sex are almost identical for men with a count of 0, 1, and 12 (negligible differences). Among high-mate-value men, desirability scores are much higher for men with a count of 0 than they are for a man with a count of 12. Those men with a count of 1 are slightly more desirable than the ones with a count of 0, but the difference is negligible.

Bottom line, women rate a high-mate-value virgins as more desirable than high-mate-value men with high n counts.

The thing is, past high school, high-mate-value virgins are about as common as unicorns. But yes, conceptually a really hot guy who's hers and only hers is more appealing than one who's slept around. She's just unlikely to meet one.

In reality, most virgins past a certain age are low-mate-value men. But it's not that women dislike them because their virgins. They're virgins because women dislike them, due to their low mate value. As I said before, a lot of guys conflate cause and effect on this topic.
