There are many double binds that women put men in.

One is - open up, emotionally / we're not your emotional servant. Be 'vulnerable' / I got the ick because he seems weak and needy.

Women are not a monolith. This does not, however, stop women from asserting things and speaking on behalf of all women on a regular basis, here and elsewhere.

I would hope there are different answers from people in different situations. I don't know if that will be the case. This youtuber woman suggests that men should open up when they need support and be vulnerable - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6MehPfn-6w . Welp, she's married (would she have been attracted to her man originally if he was like this in the beginning?) Maybe this is something that can only be either or depending on where people are at in their relationships.

I know that many are going to lazily attempt to write this off as a false dichotomy. If that's the case where is the place in the middle? If there was a place in the middle all along, why aren't women just saying that in the first place? Women posture themselves as superior communicators and yet we end up in these situations all the time.

No topic changes.

The question is: which is it?

how do you negotiate this in your relationships (what do your relationships look like)?

Open up / be 'vulnerable' or we're sick of being 'emotional servants,' how dare they? (we all know we've heard a lot of both)
