I'll say what the women on this sub have told men who gripe about marriage: no one's forcing you to get married. If you see no benefit in it then don't do it. No need to justify your views to anyone. I doubt very much any partner would want to hang around a woman whose view on commitment is that she doesn't benefit at all.

It's ironic considering how much women push for commitment and how early too.

Married women are always at the bottom of the list in terms of happiness.

Men on this sub seem to have this idea that women should all be begging them for commitment.

Where exactly do you think anyone gets this idea from? Commitment is something that most women want, and foolishly even attempt to demand. The measure of a thing's worth is exactly how much people desire it, with scarcity also being a factor.

If a man's commitment means nothing to you, then that means it is worth nothing--to you. So here's a question in response to yours: why are you looking for others to convince you otherwise?

Are you asking for the benefits of being with a man besides the obvious economic incentives? The most obvious that comes to mind is child rearing. Splitting of costs, labor, and time. Children can consume a single parents life; two makes life much easier.

Another would be the division of labor and skill sets throughout ones life. A man can allow you to concentrate on whatever household or life skillsets you want to pursue while still maintaining a comfortable home and career. I can cook- my wife does it better and enjoys the task more. She is capable of building a deck- I enjoy the task and do it better.

High value men will seek high value partners. I appreciate the things my wife does for me. She appreciates the things I do for her. Marriage is a reciprocal relationship and that cycle can cause each individual to become a better version of themselves.

A man's commitment is a luxury. It's a nice thing to have, but not at all a necessity. I like having someone to prioritize, and having someone prioritize me. I like the intimacy. I like making plans for the future, even if they never come into fruition. It feels good to be "chosen" by someone I desire and respect.

I can be and have been perfectly content without all those things. I consider having a man a cherry on top of a pretty rad life.

Marriage? Not a lot besides that check. Marriage seems to soften up a lot of (most?) men. Because a lot of men who are gunning to get married really just want a surrogate mommy to cook for him and clean up after him. The ones who weren't gunning for it specifically and kind of acquiesce to it just mentally check out and stop contributing to the relationship. Both situations are going to lead to resentment and unhappiness in the woman. Hence the divorce rate.

If he marries and miraculously stays the same man then she really only has what she already had, just with the state now interjecting itself in the relationship so really no new gain.

So really a man's (legal) commitment is neutral at best. Don't get married boys and girls.

Most women are lower middle class or poor. Most people are lower middle class or poor.

Because of that, getting a man's commitment and resources is the most reliable way most women have in order to have children (most women want to be mothers) and have some extra time and cash so they don't go insane due to the extra work and lack of sleep.

A man's commitment is, to the majority of LMC and poor women, the key to be a mother and avoid a life of slaving to death for an employer that doesn't give a shit for them (or two employers that don't give a shit) and sleeping just 5 hours or less per day.

i think women should drop the idea of coddling and spoiling worthless males and start loving themselves then other women. never males. males should be used for reproduction and as sex toys. Look at how poorly children of single mothers fair. They are behind in almost every metric and their life outcomes are statistically much worse.

Thats what a mans commitment provides. A stable home, a stable (?second) income to (help)provide, a moderating influence on the child rearing.

There is probably something intangible going on, something we cant point to which causes children to be so much better off. But whatever it is, it does help rather significantly.

Thats what a mans commitment buys you. Giving your children the best possible start in life.

Lets see I was married for eight years. In addition to providing about 2/3 the family income I burnt through about 175K of preexisting wealth to provide/do all sorts of shit for her including but certainly not limited to the following:

-- got her off in two criminal cases and a traffic case too.

-- using money I'd earned before the marriage I paid for her weight loss surgery and multiple reconstruction plastic surgery procedures after she lost weight (inc. body lift, arm lift, and breast reconstruction). Total net cost (after insurance) almost 40K (I had to sell a house I had owned since before I met her).

-- Approved almost 20K in family trust payments supposedly for her to complete her degree. Since I trusted her I never asked for documentation. Guess what -- she took the money and never enrolled.

-- Bought her a Triumph Bonneville motorcycle and all the equipment. Over 12K total.

-- Paid off the note on a POS car she had bought before I met her. 7.5K

-- Paid for a new engine for her car when she forgot to check her oil. 5.5K

-- Paid for a new used car when she ignored the low coolant dash light. 6K.

-- Fixed innumerable civil and criminal problems for her extended family. They're still asking for help more than two years since I got kicked to the curb.

Nothing. A man's commitment is worth nothing. It's not like he can get laid at will with most of the women he desires. Men are easy to replace, even if they are hot. Hell, most men aren't even good enough to be sperm providers.
