How can you protest Warren Farrell? Not only is he the former head of the NY chapter of NOW, he seems like such a calm and soft spoken person. On top of that, all he does is state the facts.

They were juvenile and uninterested in hearing what we were about.

It was surreal. Even some of the reporters were complaining about them.

I always find myself wondering whether individuals like these honestly believe that talking about men's rights is hate speech, or whether they are fully aware that the whole feminist movement has turned into a misandrist movement and simply support it because of the often gender biased advantages (against men) that it affords them?

In other words: are these modern day radical feminists brainwashed or merely opportunistic?

I always saw these posters all around campus, even before this, and it makes me sort of slightly uncomfortable just to see them. Cuz I've heard a lot about men's rights and it seems to be more of a veil for misogyny, but I could never like find one thing to be really angry at them for but then this guy Warren Farrell, he publicly advocates date rape and it's like, in some of his books he said it's called, or I forget the exact quote but what was on the poster?

(other girl) He said um, women saying no right is

(first girl) I think it was like um, sorry

(Interviewer) Oh thats okay

(first girl) Um it's like he said something like before we called it date rape we called it exciting

Anyone know if that's an accurate quote, and is there some wider context? Seems pretty weird to me if it's true, which it seems to be from a quick googling. There also seems to be some stuff condoning incest, any credence to that?

I don't like how in my country people think it's just to order someone to be silent. I'm all for people exercising their right to disagree, even loudly. But "off our campus" is bullshit. Fuck you, let him speak, and in the meantime, say why he's wrong. Gather in disagreement, not in censorship. This is not how the marketplace of ideas is fueled.

These fucking protesters are saying "your right to speak, stops at my feelings". And that pisses me off immensely.

I figure I'd redeem a bit of karma here, seeing as I'm probably going to lose about 20 points for having the audacity to disagree with anything on /r/feminism.

edit: so it turns out my comment was well received there. Which is surprising. It seems I misjudged that community a little. But it certainly wouldn't be the first time I've been pounded with downvotes for being even remotely contrary there.

The "attacks by police" apparently happened when police broke through a blockade made by protesters. They were actually trying to block people from entering and attending Warren Farrell's lecture.

I notice in this video, the little white night at the podium is sporting a brand new 'stache, in support of Movember I assume; a month focussing on men's issues, specifically health. That conference Warren was putting on, clearly states it's focussing on men's issues. Yet that little asswipe is leading the charge against it.

That's all I can really say at this point. My head's about to explode. Maybe facepalming myself a nosebleed would relieve a bit of pressure.

The problem is that these people are stupid. And crazy. Some are so stupid, and have remained uncorrected for so long, that it has become a kind of crazy. And some are so crazy that they were never going to hang onto concrete reality long enough to build enough intelligence to see what's actually going on.

And any time someone tells them they're crazy or stupid, they shout "sexist!" as loud and long as it takes for them to shut out the new information, thus reinforcing their own crazy and stupid.
