I don’t know anything about spring break - I didn’t go to college and never went on vacation to one of these types of places - but I don’t think anyone is recording fat and ugly people dancing. They may be out there but probably for mocking and derision and that would be incredibly mean.

2) Nobody uploads videos of “normal” people having a “normal” time on spring break. All of the videos that people will bother to upload are videos of conventionally attractive people. When you search for spring break videos online, you are seeing only a sliver of activity and assuming what you see is universal.

I feel like some of these things have always been true.

-For all of my life, women have been more active dancers and a lot of men wait around in what you label the “penalty box” on the outside

-girls wear skimpy clothing in a place like Cancun. It’d be weird to come dressed for church. Showing skin isn’t even a slut tell when everyone is doing it

-ugly or non-confident guys struggle in a dance floor setting. There’s no opportunity to show off other traits and they often seem out of place or anxious

-most women cluster with their friends and most men cluster with their friends. Some mixed gender groups are seen, but they are less common. In my Cancun days this was fraternity brothers and sorority women down as a group in Mexico on break.

This pattern was the same when I was in college in 2009 and appeared the same when I was a kid watching MTV and BET Spring Break in 2000.

If anything changed it seemed it changed at least by 2000 because my entire life from adolescence to now has always looked like what you described. The club/party scene was always “Darwinian” If by that you mean “hot women had fun with and danced with each other and only the cute or bold guys got play, and sometimes a not so cute girl got some attention but not really”

This is similar to a rave. You don't see many overweight women, because they would be depressed to be surrounded by all the hot thin rave booty.

Its similar for men, but to a lesser degree. You'll see big fat guys, but they're typically rave dads who arn't getting much action. but they are great to walk behind when you want get through a crowd.

The most powerful realization I had growing up was that most people project themselves onto others and then accuse those others of doing the wrongs they themselves are doing. If you have ever been taken aback by a wild accusation, then you were probably experiencing this effect.

Women accuse men of objectifying women, but it has always been the women objectifying men. Most men will fuck anything and the men with options are the ones who pick based on personality. Women are firmly material beings who can only accept an ugly man by making him promise something else material.

I'm not drawing conclusions off this or anything. Who knows what it means.

I'm not interested in any parties or dancing or even beaches, so never been to anything like that. My spring breaks in college were either spent camping with guyfriends or working overtime for that sweet, sweet minimum wage paycheck lol.

But even I can tell you what it means.

Women will be more outgoing and sexually aggressive if they see a lot of competition for the man they want.
In current times, women who are overweight or fat are generally accepted due to the "fat acceptance movement" whereas men unfortunately are still not.
Male beauty standards are just as whackadoo as female ones, so you're going to see more "Ken doll" men out there who think they need a 6 pack and 9% body fat to be "attractive".
Pretty men and women will always be filmed more, but the fact everyone has a supercomputer + mini film studio in their pocket means tons more evidence of what the other people are doing will be seen.

A) Have a job.

B) have his own place, doesn't have to be owned. Women usually don't like to fuck with the guy's parents in the next room, or his roomates.

Kind of weird description of PCB in march, but .... I went there 4 times in 4 years and it was never so explicit. Maybe people self selected out. But all of my friends were able to hook up even with girls more attractive than them. Must be something about the Gulf Shores, Destin, Orange Beach etc area.

I'm not American, so the Spring Break phenomenon is not familiar to me at all, but you observations are nothing more than selection bias to me.

There were always people who choose to spend their college years partying and sleeping around and ones who choose other activities and consider constant parties as extremely boring and mundane.

And since men see and care only about hot women and their lifes it's easy to know which group they're going to pay attention to.

It's basically brutally Darwinian. If you are fat at all as a guy, you keep your fucking shirt on and stay away from the dance floor. Girls or all weights wear even the stringiest bikinis and act like they are hot shit, and get at least some male attention.

GGW started in the late 1990s, but found massive traction in the 2000s up until the Financial Crisis. Ubiquitous ads on Comedy Central. Everything is self-selecting with their content and they also seed the girls for the videos and such... like the way Storage Wars would fake it with items found in a storage unit.

Those who never been to a venue with GGW and the GGW bus would be disappointed to find that it is less interesting than you think. The girls who are going wild were more often than not paid and brought to the venue. Yes, there are the girls who are complete amateurs doing things for beads or swag, but they are fewer than you would think.

Times have changed significantly since 20-30 years ago. There's no average man or woman. Nobody falls in the middle as a median anymore. Everyone is at extreme ends now. You're wealthy or you're very poor. You're obese or you're muscle-bound with 6-10 pack. You're a teetotaler or you have a substance abuse problem. You're blissfully going through life or you have some form of a mental illness.

Even the concept of Spring Break has been altered completely.

College students still flock to beaches and engage in debauchery, but it is nowhere close to the way it was 20 years ago. Lots of cities have cracked down hard. Why? To ensure property appreciation and to attract older people to retire to these locations. More money in older people than hard partying college students who are there to spend 4-5 days for sporadically during one month of the year. Higher crime rates due to the Spring Breakers discourages the AARP crowd from moving to these locations.

Spring Break used to have a hard, fixed purpose to it, but everyone is now using the time to do what they want with it.

All of the dynamics you talk about in the bars/clubs during Spring Break was prevalent when I used to go clubbing. The last thing you wanted to be was the guy alone near the wall just standing there nervously having a drink. You needed to go with other guys to be able to get interplay with groups of girls and then you got the girl who made the most sense for you, the one who just looked at you the longest. Girls would get very aggressive and sexual real fast on the dance floor, grinding and not necessarily for dancing. They'd just look to hot dog a guy on the floor, literally... I have had girls on the dance floor somehow through their dress secure my dick while grinding and just jerk me off through my jeans with their ass, it was insane. Your biggest fear was finishing, often times, you'd just go into the bathroom stall at a club and get a BJ from her after all that. Once you get used to this sort of life when going out, you think it's always like this... you kind of get spoiled.

Pre-Covid I bartended(mainly Shirley temples) at a “Sweet sixteen” party. The birthday girl was heavyset.

Despite the parents & family being present the girls and some of the boys participated in an organized “Twerking contest” on the dance floor.

I basically did the Homer disappearing into the bushes as I didn’t want to look like I was watch the “competition” as the booty shaking was fierce.

So, while I don’t see that at every sweet 16, it does point to a general decline with this sort of behavior at a more formal event.
