In previous generations, age-gap couples were much more common than they are now, ask your grandparents how many 10+ year age gap couples they knew when they were young (it’ll be a lot).

PPD says that the lack of current age-gap couples is due to the fact that modern women have more earning power, are less financially vulnerable and thus don’t need a richer, established older guy.

However data shows that women at all income levels look for someone that out-earns them. Older men who have been working longer out-earn young women, thus these young women could more easily find an older guy that out-earns them than a younger guy that out-earns them.

Additionally, older men are proven to be more physically attractive than guys in their 20s. Men gain bigger muscles, lose feminine facial fat and look more distinguished. Men can have children at any age so women evolved to find men of all ages attractive. Most young women thirst over George clones, Johnny depp and other guys in their 60s whereas men of all ages are not thirsting over women in their 50s or 60s.

Yet, in the last few decades, society began to tell women that dating older men is anti-feminist and that older men who are following their natural instincts of being attracted to fertile women are creepy.

Thanks to tinder and online dating, young women have more access than ever to richer, older guys yet there are fewer age gap couples than ever.

Older women and jealous men (who’ve never had the chance to date young women) constantly tell young women that older men who want to date them are doing it because they want to manipulate them.

And then young women, who are more conscious of their social standing, absorb the message that if they follow their desires and genuinely fall for an older guy, they’ll be looked down upon by society.
