Yay! Another way to use false allegations and abuse the legal system!! Can't wait for predatory women to take advantage of drunk men, used condoms, and whatnot for free $$$!

But for real, Imagine having to pay child support, have no reproductive right, AND be sued for lack of reproductive rights. When are men gonna protest?

[–][deleted] 108 points109 points110 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

This is what my mother did to my father after I was conceived. I am the product of a one night stand. My father found out about my existence via a phone call from my mom. She said, “I’m suing you”, and hung up.

[–]ABeeBox 29 points30 points31 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Did she win in court? How's your relationship with your mother and father?

[–][deleted] 89 points90 points91 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I met my father on Facebook when I was 21. My mother would disagree, but my father says she wouldn’t let him see me as a child. The first time I saw him, didn’t meet him, was in a child support court room when I was 8. Nowadays, I’m 30, and my relationship with my father is great. He is very supportive and loving.

Same with my mother. However, our relationship is strained because she always talks to me about the Earth being flat, the moon landing was faked, and about how smart she is. I post and visit r/qanoncasualties often as therapy.

[–]ABeeBox 46 points47 points48 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sounds like your mother might be a narcissist.

It sucks. I've been in a similar situation. My mother lied about everything to juice as much money out of my father. The government paid for my full college tuition but my mother never told my father that, in fact, reinforced the idea that my dad owes her €2,500 for college. My mother told me it was for me, but I never saw that money. I spent my entire life with having only a single pair of shoes while she had 4 large black bin bags worth of shoes.

When it comes to communication, I don't talk to my mother. When I do its always negative and 80% of the time its shit talking my father. When I talk with my father, it seems like he has genuine interest in my studies, my hobbies, my life etc. He's never bad mouthed my mom even through all the bullshit and prefers to be quiet about her, even though I've learned A LOT from secondary sources. Even experiencing physical abuse from her first hand.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m sorry about all of that. We have had similar experiences.

My mother is a very sad, lonely, and angry person. She is very uneducated, and thus, doesn’t know what she’s done is wrong. But because she’s my mother, I love her, and still try to be good to her.

[–]shifurc 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bruh your mom ....

[–]babyshaker_on_board 69 points70 points71 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

That's what women do! My coworker pays his exwife 7g/month while she lives in the house he bought with her bf. And how many men have I heard say "she would never do that to me!" They all fucking take the paycheque

[–]GoOozzie 33 points34 points35 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

At that point I'd be seriously considering 3 square meals and a cot to be a superior situation.

[–]r2o_abile 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There are established pipelines to help women "come out on top".

That's why opening and sustaining men's shelters, men's divorce groups and associations, etc, are of paramount importance of equality is desired.

[–]babyshaker_on_board 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I read this wrong since I'm a woman who works on pipeline. I completely agree. There are too many men out there who just grin and bear it for the kids with no resources. Where can you find a battered mens' shelter?

[–]TheCryptoKeeperHodl 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A good friend of mine lost everything and pays his x wife out the ass while she’s shacked up with her divorce lawyer.

[–]Valfreyja87 -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not I. When my ex said he wanted nothing to do with our son, I refused to go after child-support - I want nothing to do with the bastard.

[–]tenchineuro 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yay! Another way to use false allegations and abuse the legal system!! Can't wait for predatory women to take advantage of drunk men, used condoms, and whatnot for free $$$!

Women can do that now, and they do.

[–]DaBigVikin 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just more ways to their arsenal.

[–]throwawaygoodvibess 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You could say mgtow men are protesting by not playing. A winning move imo

But those that keep playing and get burned may have to learn the hard way 🤷‍♂️

[–]NohoTwoPointOh 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Everyone said they were crazy.

As you say..the only winning move is NOT to play.

[–]ZaddyTissues 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even if this does pass, all it will do it push people away from hooking up. Men and Women included. If hook up culture has taught me anything is that women love taking advantage of older successful men and men enjoy basically paying for sex and affection, which most people would consider it taboo.

All these “ideas” to “get back at men” for roe v wade is just going to make people avoid non-monogamy, which would push for the conservative value as the only other option.

[–]safetaco 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Predatory “Pregnant People”. Men are easily defined. But only biologists can define “woman”.

[–]Fausty79 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well, to paraphrase what so many of the pro-life boys say... keep it in your pants, nothing to worry about.

[–]manicmonkeys 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Guess ya haven't heard about people who aren't even the father (proven with paternity test) being forced to pay child support, and the same happening to boys who were raped by women?

[–]Limp-Dee -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

About to give in and get a vasectomy

[–]gamerlololdude -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good reason to get a vasectomy I guess. Can always retreat sperm from testicles anyways for IVF method is want bio kids.

This abortion ban really fucked it up for all of us. Who were these idiots that wanted abortion to be made illegal even.

[–]nitefang -4 points-3 points-2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Seems like it wouldn’t be an issue if women could get abortions, but if they have to keep it the father should be held accountable for the mothers medical expenses.

How the fuck did I get on this cesspool, god damn Reddit suggestions.

Yes, and men will be blamed when they don't want commitment in relationships as usual.

[–]freerossulbrich 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago* (13 children) | Copy Link

Precisely. This is why I have always advocate that sex must be transactional.

It's actually win win for the woman too. She knows exactly what she is getting. She knows exactly what she will need to do to get that money.

Also because transactions are win win, otherwise people don't agree to it, then everything tend to be win win.

[–]Albino478 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

So now women who seek to profit at our expense can have money from getting pregnant AND child support? Having sex sound less and less exciting.

[–][deleted] 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–]freerossulbrich -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Or you can just offer money or child support if she wants to give you children.

Even some women themselves have that idea.

[–][deleted] 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–]freerossulbrich 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's been done in surrogacy I think.

But why stop at surrogacy? Women that I can pay make great mother.

Actually, 80% of what makes a great mother are genes anyway. If she is pretty and have good IQ and she will be a great mother.

If we can pay her then we know the cost beforehand.

[–]freerossulbrich 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Actually why not? The problem is this sort of thing is not explicitly agreed by both parties.

2 people have sex with so many restrictions on their choice. Most notably is that women cannot consider money.

Then they have children and the state decides amount of child support.

What should have happened is, if a woman want to make money by getting pregnant and child support, she should have just say so from the beginning to a reasonably rich man.

Problem solved.

[–]AdAcademic4290 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sex is not transactional. It's just sex. Unless a person visits an actual sex worker and pays them for it.

[–]freerossulbrich 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Sex is not transactional mainly due to stigma and criminalization of it.

Anyway, if sex is not transactional, what about if the woman get pregnant? How much money the guy should pay? Do they want babies? When sex is transactional, this sort of things can be discussed before first fuck.

Transaction is actually the fairest way to get anything in this world. It's just that radical feminists want that prohibited

[–]PrimeWolf88 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Will it be in the form of itemised receipts with special offers and buy one get one free on certain activities? The future will be very strange.

[–]freerossulbrich 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I offered some money and financial support if she gives me children. To make her believe me, I did some transactions first. It worked.

[–]PrimeWolf88 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Don't forget to read the refund policy

[–]freerossulbrich 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's the catch.

There is no refund policy in marriage. If you fuck her and she gives birth to milk man's son, you owe her money, and not the other way around.

If my mistress gives birth to someone else's son, that's not my problem. I just leave.

More fair.

[–]freerossulbrich 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Paid doesn't mean you don't want commitment. If anything, the best way to maintain commitment is to split them into many transactions.

[–]AdAcademic4290 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But sex workers don't want to have to deal with the outcome or R v W either. I reckon quite a few will leave this type of work.

[–]NegativeOrchid 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ya no #metoo and unwanted pregnancies

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's honestly the safest means of having sex at this point. For men and women.

Nope, because men will then wise up and we will probably want some kind of contract to protect ourselves if it came to this. Women won't sign that shit if it protects the man, which in turn would put more burden on here where it belongs in some areas. The whole reason women are monetizing sex is to gain more form it. They will not want to have any disadvantage at all, even if the disadvantage is nothing more than being responsible.

They don't care about little girls that mostly haven't yet been brainwashed into or old women that mostly have grown out of feminism.

[–]tenchineuro 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Maybe, but even Supreme Court justices don't know what a woman is, so we're back to step one.

[–]Nicholas_VI 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

One justice. I suspect the others know about X and Y chromosomes.

[–]Baldasus -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Is this not a place for mens issues? If you want to talk about conservative ideologies you should go to that subreddit

[–]QnsConcrete 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Lol, imagine thinking that asking what is a pregnant person is a conservative ideology. No one else seems to agree.

[–]Baldasus -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You are deliberately misunderstanding what I am saying. I am not saying asking what a pregnant person is is a conservative belief. Im saying that assuming a pregnant person is a woman is conservative and has nothing to do with men or their rights

[–]QnsConcrete 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, assuming a pregnant person is a woman is not a conservative belief. It’s common human knowledge for thousands of years based on biology, and has only been questioned within the last couple years by people seeking to change the definition of biological terms.

If we can just make up definitions for men and women, then that’s absolutely a men’s right issue as well.

[–]Baldasus -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Biology is a form of science. Hundreds of years ago people thought the earth was flat. Now we know its not. Scientific discoveries change what we know about things research on the transgender brain

[–]Solid-Perspective98 64 points65 points66 points 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Maharath said the existence of the new law makes it more important that people who become pregnant have the option to file a civil suit against the person who impregnated them, regardless of how it happened.

It sounds like a woman can sue a man if she rapes him and become pregnant with his child.

[–]C20H25N3O-C21H30O2[S] 26 points27 points28 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Absolutely

[–]duhhhh 23 points24 points25 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

As it is today, even if she is convicted for the act of conception she will get primary custody and he will owe child support. $5k is nothing compared to that.

[–]tenchineuro 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I don't see anything in the proposal that absolves the purported father the child support obligation, so it's $5K + court costs + CS.

[–]duhhhh 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I was trying to say a male victim being made to pay his female rapist isn't anything new. Another $5k on top of the $50k a low income victim or $500k a high income victim is already paying his rapist wouldn't be a big new injustice. The order or orders of magnitude bigger injustice has already been there for decades.

[–]tenchineuro 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I see, but court costs can exceed $5K easily and the purported father is given both bills at the same time. I do think that this is a bigger injustice, especially given that many men don't have enough left to live on after CS. The only difference is that he does not face jail from not paying a civil case.

[–]duhhhh 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The only difference is that he does not face jail from not paying a civil case.

Are you sure it couldn't apply here as well? Contempt of court for failure to pay child support is also civil.

[–]tenchineuro 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Are you sure it couldn't apply here as well?

Even O.J. Simpson was not jailed for failing to pay the 'wrongful death' damages of $33 million IIRC.

Contempt of court for failure to pay child support is also civil.

AFAIK, this only applies to CS. But if you have other information I'd love to see it.

[–]tenchineuro 23 points24 points25 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It sounds like a woman can sue a man if she rapes him and become pregnant with his child.

That's always been the case. No change here.

[–]JosephSmithSux 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even if the man is a boy just out of puberty.

[–]zmKozXyH6 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

new law? I was baby trapped/raped back in 2004.... I had to pay....

[–]Solid-Perspective98 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm so sorry for your experience. That said, this supposed new law, which compels men to pay the mother of their their unborn child, is different and independent from the existing one that requires parents to maintain their children. Both however do not take the circumstance of conception into account, which is completely reprehensible.

[–]Claws_and_chains 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah unfortunately that has been the case both ways (women who rape men and men who rape women) for a long time. It’s vile. A lot of anti sexual violence advocates have tried to lobby to put specific rules in place preventing this but since only 3% of rapists serve jail time there’s not a ton of recourse if you can’t get a criminal conviction. I hate it.

[–]Solid-Perspective98 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes I'm aware that individuals (regardless of gender) who have offsprings as a result of sexual assault are liable for child support.

However, there is a distinction with regards to the new proposed law as it provides women the right to compel men to pay them (not for the child) for being made pregnant, regardless of circumstances.

[–]Prophetspeaks 54 points55 points56 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What bothers people in the comments is the “birthing people” part💀never mind the part where men are going to get sued wholesale for “un-wanted” pregnancies

[–]Accomplished_Shoe_31 90 points91 points92 points 4 years ago (146 children) | Copy Link

Really? Men are held responsible it’s called child support. Hell we’re the only ones held responsible.

[+]velvetalocasia -107 points-106 points-105 points 4 years ago* (145 children) | Copy Link

That’s being held responsible for the outcome of pregnancy, not for causing pregnancy and associated damages.

[–]Accomplished_Shoe_31 71 points72 points73 points 4 years ago* (53 children) | Copy Link

Women are equally responsible yet not held responsible where they could be sued. And watch if RvW comes back this law if passed won’t go anywhere and y’all will fight tooth and nail to keep it.

[+]velvetalocasia -51 points-50 points-49 points 4 years ago (52 children) | Copy Link

Because women are left with the damages! What would someone else want to sue for?

[–]Typhooni 26 points27 points28 points 4 years ago (41 children) | Copy Link

Then men should sue for child support, since that is damaging man.

[–][deleted] 4 years ago (40 children) | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–]Typhooni 25 points26 points27 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Lolololol, I think you need up the laws of nature. Because to cause a pregnancy you need 2.

[+]velvetalocasia -9 points-8 points-7 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

I think you need to up biology……the woman has her egg, she ovulates and nothing happens, if she is on her own. Only if the man comes along and ejaculates (irresponsibly) into a woman, a pregnancy occurs.

[–]LittleDicken 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That’s a 12 year old troll that failed their biology in school

[–]velvetalocasia -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What other way women get pregnant?

[–]Typhooni 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

Obvious troll, but allow me to respond for comedy purposes.

If a man ejaculates semen, nothing happens if he's on his own. Only if a woman comes along, which has sex (irresponsibly), a pregnancy occurs.

[–]velvetalocasia -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

That’s why the guy shouldn’t ejaculate INTO a woman. If he keeps his shit to himself, no damages occur.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Pretty wrong there.

I can ejaculate in an infertile woman all day everyday and it wouldn’t result in a pregnancy, no matter how hard I tried to get her pregnant.

Now if I ejaculated in a fertile woman then that would result in a pregnancy.

My sperm production is 24/7/365, your egg production isn’t a constant thing.

Why should the thing that never stops take responsibility for something that does.

Imagine a railway crossing. A train is coming along the track and will cross over a roadway. Who is stopped? The train, that take kilometres to stop and to get going again. Or the cars and trucks that can come to a stop sooner and get back to speed quicker?

We all say the cars and trucks should stop, they slow down and can speed up quicker than a train. It’s the logical choice.

So why, when we talk about reproductive rights, do we say that men take responsibility for pregnancies even though our sperm production never ceases and to cease or reduce the production is more difficult and has more negative effects, while women go through stages of fertility that allow doctors to add blocks to a woman’s body so her body doesn’t go into the fertile stage.

Why would you say a train should stop at a road crossing instead of the vehicles?

[–]velvetalocasia -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Surprise, if the woman has no viable egg, there is nothing to fertilize! Did you have to think really hard for that?

You ejaculate INTO a woman.

You are a potential baby maker 24/7 for decades.

YOU ARE THE RISK!!!!

You are so close and still miss the point.

What the frick? Do you think you are Thomas the Tank Engine? Last time I checked, men very well can not ejeculate into women…..if that makes you need miles and miles to get hard again, I think that’s a YOU problem.

You don’t need to stop anything…..you just should not ejaculate irresponsibly INTO someone!

For your birth control shit….to this very day women die of birth control and men whine about getting a jab or some pimples. Cry me a river.

Unless it’s rape, no one person causes pregnancy. I’d say go back to school, but schools are notoriously shitty at sex Ed (ex. You).

No man ever got someone pregnant without the input of a woman.

[–]tenchineuro 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The pregnant woman is always the one bearing the consequences…..

Some few, yes. In most cases the result of a pregnancy is a healthy mother and a healthy baby. And that's the reason why many women have sex, they want a family.

The purported father can face lifelong financial damages and even life in prison, but you apparently don't think these are real damages.

[–]velvetalocasia 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And a shit load of medical bills, and loss of income for the mother, bodily damage for the mother, less time to generate income for the mother…….

A woman alway faces life long financial loss, not only sometimes………

[–]Accomplished_Shoe_31 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Since when has anyone ever been able to sue from something the consented to? And “left with the damages?” Sounds like you’re talking about the outcome of being pregnant which you admitted yourself is what child support was for. So why don’t you try making up another excuse on why women can’t take any amount of responsibility for their actions.

[–]velvetalocasia 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Nope, I‘m talking like loss of income, medical bills, developing complications, ripping from hole to hole while giving birth or have major abdominal surgery to get it out…..none of that is covered by child support.

You glossed over „unintended pregnancy“……no consent here.

[–]w1g2 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Men also are unlikely to have consented to a woman becoming pregnant.

Both parties engage in the sexual act knowing that pregnancy is a possible outcome. There is no logical reasoning that suggests a man having sex with a woman makes him responsible for the outcome of pregnancy and that she bears no responsibility. You said sperm causes pregnancy, but sperm alone does not cause pregnancy, it can only happen when sperm meets egg. So therefore the woman shares half responsibility for making her eggs available to sperm.

If you really want this law to come about, in order to be fair and logical, a woman needs to prove that she tried to prevent pregnancy as much as possible so that therefore it was indeed solely the man's fault. She should have to prove that she took birth control perfectly and that they did not engage in the kind of sexual acts where pregnancy can occur during the time it can occur. Otherwise, one would not be able to point to the man as solely at fault.

On many food bags, there are warnings about potential allergy-inducing ingredients and if you eat the food, whether you know you have that food allergy or not, you cannot sue the company because they made sure the information was available. If you go on an amusement park ride, the park has a responsibility to make the rides safe for you, and you also have a responsibility to adhere to rules to ensure your safety. If you break those rules, you will not be able to sue the company because you caused your own injury due to your reckless behavior.

[–]velvetalocasia 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Where did I or the bill say, that a men consented to the pregnancy?

If you cause a car accident, you didn’t consent to have one but you are still liable for the damages. All drivers willingly drive, even though they know car accidents occur. Without other people on the street accidents with other people can’t occur…..still, someone who caused an accident is not less liable, if the other party didn’t use a seatbelt.

I don’t see why of all people Americans are so against such a law…..they are a thing in other parts of the earth.

[–]w1g2 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A pregnancy is not comparable to one person causing a car accident, it is comparable to two persons causing an accident. Their insurance companies will most definitely investigate if one person is more at fault than the other, particularly if one person received physical damage to their person. If the physically damaged person was more at fault for the accident, they will have to pay for the damage to themselves, their car, and the other person's car.

If a person sets things up to have someone crash into them in order to cause physical damage so that they can then get a huge payout, this is considered extortion and is illegal.

Alright, you convinced me. Pregnancy should be treated with the same laws as car crashes.

[–]Accomplished_Shoe_31 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I‘m sure they do push for abortion legislation.

But are you really to blind to see that pregnancy and childbirth is literally a risk to very life?

Even if a pregnancy is easy and nothing out of the order happens (let’s forget for a second that the US has the highest maternal death rate out of the developed countries and it will only shoot up now) the woman will still be left with damage to her body (to push the child out let’s you literally rip from hole to hole) or let’s have a c-section (that’s major abdominal surgery). If it doesn’t work out so nicely, pregnancy and childbirth can literally leave a woman disabled for life. All of that doesn’t even touch on the necessary prenatal care (medical bills are a bitch without universal healthcare) don’t even think about it, if the mother where to develop pregnancy diabetes or something, what the birth itself will cost, the loss of income before and after birth, less career development……

[–]tenchineuro 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (27 children) | Copy Link

But are you really to blind to see that pregnancy and childbirth is literally a risk to very life?

So is driving to work, or the store. It used to be about 50,000 traffic deaths every year, with no count of injuries.

A quick google shows that driving is far more dangerous than childbirth.

  • How common is death during childbirth in the US?
  • Highlights. The most recent U.S. maternal mortality ratio, or rate, of 17.4 per 100,000 pregnancies represented approximately 660 maternal deaths in 2018. This ranks last overall among industrialized countries.

And I got news for you, both childbirth and driving are almost 100% voluntary actions.

If you don't want to risk getting pregnant, the simplest solution is to not have sex. It's the same advice women give men, but it's kinda hypocritical that they don't follow their own advice.

[–]velvetalocasia -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

No, men just create sperm.

And this is irrelevant since a man need not be the father to be treated as one.

Even sperm banks don’t operate without the input of men. But that’s not the situation the law is about, as pregnancies occurring with intervention of a sperm bank are not „unintended“. I‘m sure you know that.

Men produce sperm and sperm causes pregnancy.

[–]velvetalocasia -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

And still only one party is left with all the problems while the man walks free….that’s exactly where this bill comes in. It distributes disadvantages out of a pregnancy more evenly.

I love this….actually many women say they don’t want to any more. And where did that bring us? Yeah, men crying out, that they feel punished by that. Or bitching, that that will reduce their sex life, as if their very survival depended on getting their dick wet.

[–]tenchineuro 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

There is no requirement that the man charged CS be the father. Perhaps the most obvious example is when a married woman screws around. Guess who is legally responsible for a child that is not his.

[–]velvetalocasia 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

That the husband is the father is legal assumption, that’s right…..everything else is just bs.

[–]tenchineuro 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

The legal father is the one charged child support. The purported father is the one that government agencies go to to recover the costs of the services they provided to the mother.

[–]velvetalocasia -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

The man can at any point demand a paternity test, if he doesn’t do that, then legal assumption kicks in, that’s how that works.

If the man doesn’t do it, he perpetuates the legal assumption.

So yeah, saying that you are the father or not saying that you are not (if married) will make you liable.

It has just nothing to do with the damages the mother has.

[–]tenchineuro 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

The man can at any point demand a paternity test,

He can also demand a ton of gold, he's as likely to get it. If unmarried the mother is unlikely to allow such a test, but it remains worthless legally unless ordered by a court. And to make sure it does not happen, there is a very short period after birth when a man can challenge paternity, in some cases 30 to 60 days.

If the man doesn’t do it, he perpetuates the legal assumption.

The fact that he may not even know the woman had a child till after the period when paternity can be challenged is not a failing on his part. And there should be no presumption of paternity today.

[–]velvetalocasia -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Sweety Pie, the unmarried father has to actively recognize paternity…..no assumptions here. If he does it, then he is liable.

A married man, has to actively say he is not the father….if he doesn’t do that, he is liable.

So you want to tell me now, that there are boat loads of married men, who have no idea their wife had a baby, until deadline for challenging paternity is up?

Or what scenario is in your head?

From week seven of pregnancy through the first trimester, you can get a noninvasive prenatal paternity test. During this test, DNA is collected from the mother by a blood draw and from the father with a cheek swab. The samples are analyzed to compare the baby's and possible father's DNA.

That's great to know! At least it would give a little fighting chance, until they ban it, like they've done in France.

[–]denyjunctionfunction 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even if it wasn’t possible, they would still need to prove that the man contributed to the pregnancy. That’s the fundamental issue the law hinges on. That’d be a key fact and lack of it would be a great defense for at least postponing a decision.

[–]velvetalocasia -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link

If I read this shit one more time! Paternity tests are not banned in France, what is banned is doing it in secret and shipping the dna off to unverified providers.

[–]SunosUnix 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link

Thats still terrible....

[–]velvetalocasia -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

[–]SunosUnix 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

Can't quietly go get your kid tested if you suspect you got trapped because some shit came out years later.

[–]velvetalocasia -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, one parent can’t just ship off the dna of their kid without the other knowing……horrible how France enforces that both parents are legal representatives of their child and that dna testing has to follow set rules.

[–]spelczech 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Please. If it were only a matter of both parents knowing a DNA sample were being sent for paternity testing, I would be okay with that, even though it probably means the end of the relationship no matter the outcome of the test.

If the man is not the father, the relationship is probably over, and if the man is the father the woman would be understandably upset that the man didn't believe or trust her, and the relationship is likely over. Far better to let the man send it secretly and preserve the relationship if his suspicions turn out to be unfounded.

But that's not what the ban is about. The ban prevents a paternity test to be performed unless BOTH the mother and father approve the test being performed. Do you really think a woman who knows she was having sex with more than one partner at the predicted time of conception is going to be okay with the man she claimed is the father wanting to do a paternity test?

Regardless of the wording of this ban, all it is really doing is protecting unfaithful women. Nice one, France. Go fuck yourselves.

But on the other, it's so lonely. For all the benefits to staying single, it really doesn't feel that great. I haven't been in a relationship for almost five years now, not counting a weeklong dumpster fire in early 2020. No intimacy, no connection, on-again-off-again depression without anyone to help with the bad days...

[–]kal_el_diablo 25 points26 points27 points 4 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

This is just more misdirected rage against men. This woman is angry about the ruling and is lashing out at men, even though it is NOT men that are against her on this, it is Republicans. Men and women remain equally split on the issue. And what is even the point of this? Sue men for what? The system already allows women to take very liberally from men financially for the children they father. This is already covered. That's how you know this is just about revenge (and against the wrong group at that).

[–]Outrageous_Fondant12 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

It you’re gonna have casual sex then follow a couple simple rules at least.

  1. Don’t stick your d*ck in crazy.
  2. Don’t be silly, wrap your Willy.

[–]12_nick_12 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Not even casual sex. Having kids in a relationship and then the mom cheats. You break up and now you the man own 30% if your gross income every month. I'm all for supporting your kids, but the amount is too much when they don't even expect the woman to work the same amount as the man.

[–]Outrageous_Fondant12 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

30% lol. I got laid off in 2013, had my support raised to $1,300 a month. Mind you I was only making like $42,000 a year or so. Got unemployment compensation a few weeks later. The court took 55% and left me with only $200 a week to live on. My ex wife’s attorney was her mother in law. She said right to my face, “no one cares about you.”

[–]greyman0425 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

She said right to my face, “no one cares about you.”

[–]Outrageous_Fondant12 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I’ve never once not supported my child. But you need to eat and keep a roof over your head too, ya know? There was no reason our child HAD to be in preschool ($800/mo) when I, nor his mother had a job at the time. She quit hers after becoming pregnant with her new husband’s kid. I worked myself to death trying to stay afloat. Nobody takes a job and is ok with taking home less than 50% of what they earn, I don’t care who you are. Can’t get blood from stone.

[–]greyman0425 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

While true, you cant get blood from a stone but you can break that stone.

That may have been the point in your case. That was about revenge not caring for the child.

At some point enough guys are going to stop caring and a tipping point will be reached where choas is preferable. We may be close to that now.

[–]Outrageous_Fondant12 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I mean, what’s the downside of waiting until you’re married or at the very least in a serious long term relationship? People rush into bed with others they otherwise have no business being with before getting to know them.

[–]Volkodavy 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Who cares how soon someone gets into a sexual relationship? If that’s not for you, then don’t do it? Humans like sex, expecting them to hold off until marriage is puritanical and invasive

[–]Outrageous_Fondant12 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I’m not saying you have to wait, but why is that a bad thing necessarily? Look at all the problems it causes when you rush into it and just sleep with just anyone. There’s unwanted pregnancies, STD’s, heartbreak, etc that can be avoided with a little self control. We’re not animals.

No because it would exclude post-op trans men who have a uterus, therefore can become pregnant.

[–]DiversityIsDivisive 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

All these word games make it difficult to communicate. Maybe we could just have a short phrase that refers to a person who can get pregnant. A single word. How about "womb-human", because they have wombs? Actually that's a bit verbose, so maybe we could shorten it to "wombman". Since having three consonants like that is still a little awkward to pronounce, maybe the 'b' could be silent. Yeah. That works.

I like it: "wombman", pronounced "wo-man"

[–]CawlinAlcarz 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Women presently can (and many do) "sue" men for pregnancies that were intended by the woman and UNINTENDED by the man - they call it child support, alimony, etc.

Ohio bill would allow pregnant people to sue men for unintended pregnancies

Side note: if we're saying "pregnant people" because saying "women" unfairly excludes trans men (who can become pregnant), then by the same reasoning shouldn't we be saying something like "sperm producers", so as to not unfairly exclude pre-op trans women (who can produce sperm)?

The funny thing is that men are ALREADY held financially responsible for “accidental pregnancies”. There really is no point in this bill, because society is already pretty much set up this way.

[–]miroku000 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The point of the bill is to hold men responsible for the cost of flying to another state to have an abortion. Society currently doesn't equally divide the cost of this. Though usually men are extorted into paying it because the alternative is paying child support for 18 years.

-Feminism

[–]helloimderek 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wait? What happened to my body, my choice? You can't claim autonomy over your body then blame others for the consequences of that freedom.

If anything, MEN should be able to sue a woman for getting pregnant. Men don't control their bodies (according to them) so why is it that men are responsible for what happens to their bodies? Like good god, I have to perform mental gymnastics to understand society's logic.

Women should be the only ones that control their body. Freedom of choice. I 100% believe that. BUT, I believe that men should 100% be in control of their finances and money and should be able to opt out of fatherhood. If a woman chooses to keep a child then the man should get to choose if he wants to pay child support or not since he had no say on whether the woman keeps the kid or not. Both need parts need to happen in order for the other to work. If abortions are made illegal (right now it is possible for them to be made illegal since Roe v Wade was axed but they're not illegal yet) then that would change everything.

This country is regressing into the dark ages.

[–]Marty-the-monkey 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

Honestly, I can kind of see this as the extention of the removal of abortions.

To me it's seems like a protest bill, to illustrate a point (whether or not you agree or disagree with the point is a different matter), and not as a bill intented to be passed (I'll bite my tounge if they get it through).

If women are to be forced to live with the consequences of getting pregnant, I can see the reasoning behind such a protest bill (that not the same as agreeing with it, just that I can see what point they are making).

and yes I'm aware of the many other laws and injustices which ropes men into paying for children they don't want, however my point here is that whomever suggested this bill is attempting to make a equivalence (however misguided one might find it) to how women now have to "pay" for unwanted pregnancies, so men have to as well

[–]buried_alive0 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This makes sence. No way to prove the pregnancy is unwated.

Men already gave to pay for unwanted pregnancies with child support.

[–]Marty-the-monkey -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Like I said; I'm aware of the other aspects and facets this comes into contact with, but trying to parce out the reasoning behind of trying to get men just as interested in making abortion legal as some women do..

[–]neveragoodtime 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

[–]Marty-the-monkey 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

I agree, however part of me kind of see the point in what's being done here.

If this is the measures necessary to "level the playing field" so to have an honest debate about abortion, then that's what it takes.

[–]neveragoodtime 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

“Level the playing field” to have an “honest debate?” They are holding a gun to men’s head until they cave to their demands. And guess what? 10/10 pro life women don’t give a damn what you do to men. You think men are responsible for our political position today?

[–]Marty-the-monkey 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Who is our in 'our political position'?

[–]neveragoodtime 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Our current position is no longer a constitutional protection for abortion, only state legislative protections for abortion. Unfortunately, those protections are voted on, and pro choice supporters would prefer an unelected minority decide the fate of their rights.

[–]Marty-the-monkey 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I have to ask again: who is our in all of this?

[–]neveragoodtime 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The political position of the United States of America. Our (country’s) political situation, all Americans are in the American political situation. The position we’re in as a country, not the position of a particular party platform. We’re all in this position, whether you agree or disagree.

[–]Marty-the-monkey 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]neveragoodtime 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

[–]Marty-the-monkey 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I'm trying to understand what you are attempting to say without presuming something wrong, because it both vague and weird what you seemingly are trying to say.

[–]neveragoodtime 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Ok, maybe you don’t think our country’s current political position is in turmoil. No worries mate. That’s all I’m trying to say, no hidden subtext. Men and women vote, men and women are responsible for our current political position, a position which i don’t think is particularly good. As exemplified by a female politician looking to punish men for the crime of being fertile. Pretty f’d up if you ask me.

[–]hedic 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

whether the pregnancy was from consensual sex or not

So they want to allow women who rape men to sue their victims.

The reality is this is a DOA bill meant to Virtue signal what she thinks women will be subject to.

[–]TheSpaceDuck 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This comment comes to mind. Imagine the progress the feminist movement would have made so far if it were as pro-women as it is anti-men.

to give consideration to her bill that holds men, who cause an unintended pregnancy, responsible whether the sex that led to the pregnancy was consensual or not

That already happens. It's called child support. Which men have to pay despite having literally zero choice on the child's birth.

This seems to be yet another feminist law for "strong independent women" to lie about contraception, sue, get a couple thousands, move to another state for an abortion (or an easier method to terminate pregnancy if early enough), repeat with another guy and not have to work a day in their lives.

It won’t. It’s written by a democrat when both houses are controlled by republicans. It won’t even get to the floor.

[–]Twinkidsgoback 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So does this mean men can sue women for it too like say the women pokes holes in the condom or tells him she’s on the pill

[–]Kinexity 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"pregnant people" yeah. There so many types of people who can get pregnant that no one category can encompass them all.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Typical feminist dodging accountability like Neo.

[–]Glass-Ad-2389 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So we can sue women for aborting our children?

[–]Flockswithflames 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Pregnant "people". So they can sue them and THEN either abort it or receive life long child support? Women are so oppressed.

[–]cplJimminy 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Shouldn't it be the other way around? Women, ahem... pregnant capable people, can decide when to get pregnant. So shouldn't men be suing wom... pregnant capable people when that happens?

[–]DATB0IMAN 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You mean women?

[–]C20H25N3O-C21H30O2[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Unfortunately no. Currently you can't define the meaning of "woman" without offending someone, so the article uses the safer "people" to stay woke and politically correct.

[–]DATB0IMAN 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then in that case, the article should not have said men in the headline, because men can get pregnant according to today’s standards.

[–]FreedomAnarchist88 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]TheMatchingRadical 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Nicholas_VI -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fine. Carry the child to term, sign over ALL rights to the father (who will pay for any expenses related to the pregnancy, NOT including basic living expenses for the mother-victim as this is not a retirement scheme). Then they can walk away from each other.

By reading the actual article not speculating this goes for anybody that has consensual sex or non-consensual sex that results in a pregnancy. The individual that caused the pregnancy, the man can be sued civilly for support.

It's only common sense that they're going to tighten the reins on women and bring in a more conservative thinking mindset into the United States that it's going to be a domino effect eventually towards men too, they don't want a bunch of men out here having a bunch of babies without responsibility being held.

[+]stacyxxluv -20 points-19 points-18 points 4 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

I mean costs of giving birth in America range from 15k on average all the way to 50k. If women aren’t allowed to abort then it makes sense that men have to pay for birth as well. But 50/50 not 100% in my opinion.

[–]Fearless-File-3625 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Child support can cost more than $200k+, so why shouldn't men be able to sue women for unwanted pregnancy?

[–]IronJohnMRA 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's a very good point. Never even thought about that.

[–]stacyxxluv 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also childcare costs on average 300.000 so that seems pretty fair. And not every man pays that amount. Many pay a lot less and some pay a lot more.

[+]stacyxxluv -15 points-14 points-13 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

That makes zero sense if a judge already appointed the child support. Best chance is to fight the child support itself, not sue the woman for causing a pregnancy.

[–]Fearless-File-3625 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Women should be able to sue men because unwanted pregnancy is costly then why shouldn't men be able to do the same?

I don't understand what to do you mean by fighting child support. Child support is determined by child support laws, so you can't just bargain the payment amount in the court.

[+]stacyxxluv -7 points-6 points-5 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

In the case that the man takes care of the child and woman doesn’t then they should be able to sue the woman for child support. In cases that the woman does it, it’s other way around. Not that difficult to understand I would say..

How dumb would it be if the woman got child support appointed by a judge and then the man sue’s her for having to pay child support. You really think that can work like that?

[–]Fearless-File-3625 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

How dumb would it be if the woman got child support appointed by a judge and then the man sue’s her for having to pay child support.

Not anymore dumb than women suing men for hospital bills due to unwanted pregnancy.

[–]stacyxxluv 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

How is that dumb if she is forced to keep the baby? The man should pay 50%.

[–]Fearless-File-3625 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

And he is not forced to keep the baby?

[–]stacyxxluv 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Yes they both are. That’s why I said 50%. God you are dumb

[–]Fearless-File-3625 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

So 50% child support?

[–]Dirtball231 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

About time, men need to be held accountable because like it or not there are horrible men out there.

[–]C20H25N3O-C21H30O2[S] 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (24 children) | Copy Link

Men have been accountable already if you haven't noticed. What about women's accountability? Were they not present at the impregnation? There are horrible people out there, regardless of gender, stop blaming men only. Women can be horrible too. The fact that society tries to remove/shift all accountability from women, it just shows that they don't think women are mature enough to have responsibilities, essentially infantilise the entire gender.

Dear misandrist lunatic feminazi, can you please provide sources of your crime statistics? Most unbiased statistics would show you that most sexual assaults, domestic violence and stalking is done by lesbian/bisexual people. Rape and sexual assault is rampant in prisons for women. You have been properly brainwashed you dumb fool. Also, are you going to punish the next generation for the failures of the previous ones? Wouldn't that be collective punishment, which is considered a war crime? In addition, you might have heard of paternity fraud and stealthing? There are many cases where the woman punched holes in the condom, lied about birth control to trap the man.

[–]GrannyGoodness89[🍰] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Again, you cannot hold an entire generation of the male gender accountable for the fuck-ups of past generations. Those people are dead. They lived in dark times when church ruled over politics. Look at the present times. Who are against abortion and female rights? Fucking religious zealots. That's why separation of church and state is so important. The US is slowly slipping into theocracy. That's fucking scary. Look what theocracy did to the Middle East in the past 50 years. Vast majority of people, regardless of gender support equal rights and are pro-choice. When you want to punish and oppress and entire gender for something they did not do, what do you think will happen in the long run? These people will turn away from you and even though they used to support the same things you believe in, they will say "fuck you, you are on your own". Modern feminism has been highjacked by misandrist extremists. They are not pro-women, they are anti-men. If you wanted equal rights and responsibilities, then you would be egalitarian, like myself and majority of modern society.

Let me just throw in some actual fact: MOTHERS are twice as likely to kill or abuse their own children then fathers. You think Im bullshitting? Here's the source: DHHS Child Maltreatment Report Quite honestly children would be much safer in their own fathers' care after divorce then their mothers. You don't hear about this from feminists because it doesn't suit their agenda.

No, I am not. YOU and all deranged feminists trying to portrait that women are victims and cannot be perpetrators. Women are just as capable and definitely more willing to commit violence than men. And since you are so obsessed with sexual violence, here's another statistics for you: men are more likely to be victims (1 in 4) of sexual violence then women (1 in 5) during their lifetime. Source

I have been molested, raped and abused sexually, physically, mentally, emotionally, verbally, psychologically, financially, spiritually, nutritionally many, many times mostly by men....

If you live in the fringe of society, you bound to attract other people from the fringe of society. You are a weirdo, attracting weirdos essentially. Normal people will keep a generous distance from you. Simple as that. You are trying to generalize and punish an entire gender based on your skewed experiences from said weirdos, who represent maybe 0.000001% of the entire gender.

It's definitely incentive to get loud about abortion rights. When women get loud they get laughed at.

To be honest this is dangerous. But not as dangerous as forcing pregnant people to remain pregnant after 6 weeks no matter the circumstances.

If we gotta make sure this doesn't happen, then we have to make sure women can opt out. It would be immoral to speak about pregnancy as a "consequence" of sex for women but not for men.

To be clear I'm not a fan of using a child as a pawn to punish anyone in a puritanical society. But I'm especially not going to endorse special treatment for one sex over the other in the conversation around pregnancy as a consequence of sex - whether consensual or not.

This certainly lights a fire under our asses to act. Which I honestly believe is probably the motivation for it. I've never actually had a conversation with a woman who didn't wanna be pregnant but then changed her mind because she could get some money out of it. Most women who don't wanna be pregnant couldn't be paid enough money to go through with it.

False accusations aren't really necessary when pregnancy requires a man to be involved. She's not gonna risk her entire suit by going after the wrong guy in an era where paternity tests are the norm in deciding who's responsible. Women aren't out here spontaneously growing embryos.

[–]TheSilverShade 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Very interesting.

First there was this Roe vs Wade abortion thing.

And now this. I can't be the only one seeing through the lines.

Women won't be able to abort so there will be more entrapment of men getting sued, as if child support and alimony weren't too much already.

[–]MrElderwood 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I can't begin to tell you how mistaken you are I'm afraid.

But let's start, if you want to, with me asking for evidence of your claim that men win slightly more family law cases than women.

[–]C20H25N3O-C21H30O2[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm not sure what claim you are talking about. Court sides with women in the vast majority of family law cases, even if they were in the wrong.

[–]MrElderwood 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My apologies for the confusion. This was meant to be a reply to an ongoing discussion within the thread, not in any way a statement in relation to the threads main post.

I was plainly more tired than I thought I was when attempting (unsuccessfully) to reply to them!

The post I intended to respond to included the following comment - "Family law is not and never was in favor of women. In the US something like 95% of custody cases never go before a judge. The once that do, men win slightly more. There is no favoritism."

For further clarity, I completely agree with you that "Court sides with women in the vast majority of family law cases, even if they were in the wrong", which was the point I was trying to make to the person I was originally intending to respond to.

Majority of rapists are men

[–]C20H25N3O-C21H30O2[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Prior to the 2013 change, the UCR's definition of rape was "carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and against her will". This means that rape specific statistics were extremely gender biased, since men were excluded from the definition.

[–]GrannyGoodness89[🍰] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

US Department Of Justice say based on statistics 99% of rapists are male

[–]lalopiloto13 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I swear women aim to avoid any real responsibility for their actions. 18 years of 20% of your income is already holding men responsible. It’ll be interesting to see what exactly the law defines as “unwanted pregnancy”. Can a woman just change her mind a couple of weeks after like they’ve done countless times when it comes to rape accusations and changing their “consent” decision the morning after? I honestly don’t see how any judge can legally enforce a decision based on hearsay.
