Just turned 40 this year so older millennial, my social circle is that and some Gen-x. I would say 5-15 is average - but anything more than 20 is prob getting labeled promiscuous. Part of the reason I like this sub is the dichotomy of the younger gen and how it seems my gen was way more relaxed about casual sex. Going to clubs, bars, house parties was a normal part of late teens/early 20s then getting married later was just a normal part of life not all this AFBB and “pills” that people are dissecting- it was literally just growing up and it wasn’t something people needed to make a thesis about.

I am 25/male and I believe partner count is varied strongly based on location.

In a big Californian or modern city (dallas, austin, charlotte, nyc etc), I'd say the average is 10 to 15 at my age.

In rural South where I went to college, I'd say the average is 2 to 5.

Outside of my college town, the average is probably 1 because they get married quickly

I’m 30, and I would guess about 10 would be average, but anything from like 3 to 50 would not really raise my eyebrows at this point. 30 is a quite variable age for this. Some people got married in their early 20s and stayed married so they never had more partners. Some have slept around a lot, and some still are. Some have been serial monogamous, maybe had a few hookups in between. All are fairly “normal.”

33F, I stopped at 6 since i met my husband in my early 20s. I always went for relationships rather than hook-ups. Looking at friends my age, I'd say under 10 would be low, 15-20 average, 40 and above is high. Numbers seem lower with people i know that are younger.

Mid twenties. Don't think the average is that good of a question since it so massively depends on sociosexuality.

I've seen women that were promiscuous, so whatever the number is, often is around getting a new one around every two weeks to month. I've seen others that were serial monogamist, so one dude about every 10-11 months. And others that were in a ltr for years or not interested to date.

I've seen men pulling consistantly, others having a few fwb every now and then, some being in a ltr, and others just being unable to get someone - often understandably true.

Middle 20s; for men, seems to be anywhere from like 4-10, for women 5-15. Varies depending on location and sexuality. Gay men have CRAZY body counts and lesbian women lower. Bi women and bi men seem to be on the middle-high end.

In my 30’s, 25 people is probably around average.

I should add I seem to have met three types of people with whom this knowledge has been shared: those who remain under 3 partners (either by choice or because they have zero options), people who marry between 6-10, and then everyone else seems to be above 20. And once you cross the 25 threshold no one counts.

I also have met a lot of women who if surveyed would say they’ve been with 10 men, because they have slept with 10 men more than once. When really they’ve probably been with 30-40 guys.

40m I use to think something like your age minus years married would be normal.

After seeing a lot of different studies it looks like normal is more like half your age minus years married as about a max.

I still find the numbers hard to believe. I've racked up more than most peoples lifetime numbers during normal dating easily in any given year of being single as well as doing the same several times in a certain month.

I can only guess for the women they tend to rack up a few very quick and then partner up until next time....then repeat. I mean if average is like 3-4 dates per hookup it's hard to believe it's so low unless people just don't date much.

I think most of the girls I knew in high school were already in the high single digits. College, I mean c'mon, definitely hard to believe they didn't rack up at least 4-6 a year.

Idk but all the studies seem to concur with these low numbers so I'll go with them as normal.
