I am a hairstylist at a high end salon in Los Angeles, so I deal with alot of women on a daily basis. This is what I hear all the time from them. Especially the 5'11 models that frequent the salon. They want a man they feel is powerful, strong and a protective. They want to feel feminine ane small next to a big strong man and know if anything happens. Their big strong man will step up and save them or keep them safe. They feel short men have a short man complex and that usually comes with an aggressivez loud personality as they need to make up for lack of height to be seen. This is what I hear all the time. From women age 20 to women age 50+.

I think in most cases its easier to hate or be unkind to people we don't find attractive. I've noticed it in friends and coworkers for both sexes. Not saying that people that are unattractive are automatically treated bad, but the potential for them to be treated bad is usually higher.

I can understand a tall woman preferring a tall man just for the desire for standard norms, man being taller than the woman. They have more flexibility in shoes for their outfits. I don't know, my wife has told me variations of that for years. "I hated wearing sandals all the time with prior boyfriends."

My mother always points out that people are short as an attack on them. Every time the prime minister is mentioned, she always points out how he's a short little man and he has to wear shoes that add an inch to his height, like she's disgusted with the idea of him being short.

I know people hate these facts, today, I know they're trying so hard to make everyone believe that culture is everything, but it is false. There are so many studies on the topic. Women have needed men's protection forever. I remind you we've been around for 300 000 years. So to say it's recent is a euphemism.

Moreover, the simple biology of genders makes it that way. You have to remind people that the main goal in biological organisms is fitness, which means the spread of your genes. Well, with every ejaculation a human male produces around 300 000 000 gametes. He is capable of fertilizing all the female on earth in a matter of a few months. His strategy will be, basically, if he is left to himself, to impregnate as many females as possible. On the other hand, a human female produces one single gamete every month. And if fertilized, this egg needs 9 months to produce an offspring, and at least 10 to 15 years to be sure it will survive and thrive. The human female NEEDS a male partner that will protect her, help her raise that offspring, provide for her, etc. She NEEDS to convince one male to invest THAT MUCH in her life (in other words, she needs to be very charming). Her entire sexual strategy will be to seek the proper, great, powerful male.

So women want men who succeeds in everything, and are full of contempt for men who can't. This is why they only have great respect for men who make six or seven figures salary, are over 6'2", drive a big car, etc., etc., etc.

Here is another perspective. Psychologically speaking. Women end up with someone who has their fathers traits, like a male ends up with someone who has his mothers traits, both good and bad, aka daddy/mommy issues. As a father, who tower's over my daughter during the most important time in her mental, emotional, and social developmental life. I am her first unconditional love, her shelter, her rock, her protector, and the strongest man alive. I am the most loyal perfect man in her eyes who has never broken a single promise nor ever will. As thats how children should see their parents. So it has been ingrained since childhood that tall, strong men are protectors, nurturer's, and make the best partners. As the best partner she had was her father. That's if he was a great present father to her. If not, they have daddy issues. Lol. Women subconsciously seek traits that their father had growing up both good and bad. Height is one of them as a child grew up, always having to look up to see dad's eyes, felt his protection when he hugged her, and felt his strength when lifted her off her feet. Even women with short fathers end up with tall men as their shirt father towered over them at one point.

There's literally been campaigns to stop people smoking because of how bad this lifestyle is. I've seen social media posts of people smoking and the comments are mentioning the smoking saying things like, "why are people still smoking?", "smoking is horrible, you should quit", etc. I've seen posts mentioning how people hate second hand smoke and steer clear of smokers. I've seen people jumping down smokers, drinkers, etc, throats.

I'm 5'7 so not really that short. I never though of myself as short, in fact I had many girlfriends in high school.

But since dating apps appeared, most girls just tell me I'm short, or that 'I like big guys' and not only that, I genuinely seems creepy to them. I could not believe that they hate me for being short but more and more evidence support this fact.

The worst thing is that you talk to guys over 5'11 and they are all 'Its not your height, there has to be something wrong with your personality' they cannot see it. But you talk to a short guy, and all of them experience it.

And then you have those that say 'look at that short guy, it has a girlfriend' but you don't know that the girlfriend either cheats on him all the time, or last just a couple of months until she gets a taller guy.

Let's be honest, it's not all women. While travelling, I went on a couple of dates with a woman from the Netherlands. She brought up how she was surprised that compared to Dutch guys men in the US were shorter (this was over a decade ago) but my height wasn't an issue for her willingness to date me. In tons of other countries it's not unusual to see short fat guys with beautiful wives.

I think we see it so much in the US because women have different goals than in the past. Historically, women wanted to get married and to do it young. That meant that instead of catting around, they needed to find the most stable guy they could before they hit 25. Stable meant the ability to take care of a family not to hypothetically protect them in a fist fight. So in that situation height didn't matter much.

Fast forward to the present and women in the US have different incentives and often those incentives don't center around starting a family or the need to find a provider. They center around finding a man who will give them a certain status or a certain feeling. Hell with our divorce laws, she can marry steady Eddy, cheat on him with some tall guy and then walk away with half his stuff plus a check every month for the kids that may or may not be his.

Like it or not, in our society, we associate height with intelligence, success, good genes...Is it true? Absolutely not but perception trumps reality. To be honest, within some of the communities, the push for tall men has to do with the desire to hopefully birth a pro-athlete or entertainer and get on easy street.

If you happen to be a shorter guy, which I am, just live your life and don't let what anyone says hurt you. You're likely not short because of some flaw as much as because of certain circumstances in your childhood. As much as people pretend genetic is the largest determiner of your height, specific nutrition and certain stresses play a huge factor in growth as a child. It's why over the last 10-15 years you'll have families where mom is 5'1, dad is 5'6 and the boys are close to 6' but the girls are barely taller than mom. You generally find that the boys were fed good protein filled balanced diets and the girls got what was left as well as the stress of being surrogate mom when the parents were busy.

I mean, there is this thought in our society that the man should be taller than the woman, but I can assure you there are sensible women who do not care about that. They don’t hate short men (relative) but they just in general aren’t attracted to short men unless said man has money or status. I critique Lizzos big hefty ass but I don’t hate her, she’s just built like one of them skee balls from chuck e’ cheese

This post implies that ALL women hate short men. But they really don’t. Not all women think the same. Some are cold and some are more compassionate than others. Nothing to get upset over tho really. Either a woman likes you for you or she doesn’t, it’s no big deal.

My thoughts to this dilema with women not interesting in dating short men, is all about the visual appeal of showing off tall arm candy when they are out in the social standpoint. We men can care less about a womans height for the most part. We are not that picky. Im 5 9" and considered short by picky women OLD. So okay, i will date a short woman and is no big deal to me or tall. As long as im attracted to her i dont care what her height is.

My man is safe height as Kevin hart. My ex is safe size as the rock.

“The big man” (my ex nickname) is an ex for good reasons.

“El Chico” (‘my man’s nickname) Is my new man for good reasons.

It’s not about height. I think it’s media hype, and this idea that women should be smaller to feel more feminine which is absolutely not true.
