Hi All,

I’ve scrolled through this sub a few times and it’s filled with doomers and gloomers for the most part. I moved to New York a couple of years ago and I feel like the world is my oyster. Note, yes I am college educated, yes I do have a good job, yes I do have a nice apartment in Manhattan. That said, I have several friends who don’t have any of this who have wildly successful dating lives in the city.

It is true that young girls are outpacing men in several categories; however, if you’re a young man who is literally just somewhat successful just a tiny bit successful you will become attractive to many. The truth is, girls in my social circles can’t find anyone bc well they want an equal or someone on their level and simply can’t find it. They’re outpacing the dating market at a rate that is truly beneficial to a man with just some momentum and something going for him. Many think the bar has never been higher - I disagree I think if you’re emotionally stable with a decent job you can get a GF. There was a podcast I watched recently where all members on the panel were in agreement that it has never been easier to stand out amongst the crowd as a man bc so many have taken themselves out of the dating market. I have been successful in the market and sense a bit of desperation, even though women will never admit it, there is a clock in their heads, and they absolutely do want to get married - most do anyway.

I see a lot of talk about the 80/20 thing where 80% of women date 20% of men. Here’s an interesting study that essentially debunks that. Also there’s been an increase in men having sex since the year prior but no change for women, as young girls seem to be driving the sexlessness statistic, contrary to popular belief. There’s a large silent majority who are in committed relationships or who are content that we’ll never come across bc they’re enjoying their lives with their loved ones and partner rather than being a doomer on reddit. The people in this sub are a loud minority. Another link you may find interesting.

If you’re a young male and you’re reading this, never give up hope because opportunity is always right around the corner. Remember you just need a single yes to a spouse, a job, and so many other things. And if you simply cannot find it, spend your 20s in a large city - where opportunities are endless, career and social.
