You see this being brought up a lot especially in debates around male mental health and loneliness. It's something along the lines of 'men need to be nicer to each other, help each other, and treat each other with kindness'. But, this is usually used an excuse for women to ignore men, dress men down, and be horrible to men in general.

Men on average are already being quite kind to another. I can easily strike up a conversation in public with another man and they will usually react with kindness and helpfulness. They will never accuse me of being creepy or trying to take advantage in some way. Meanwhile usually women act cold, assume the worst about other men, and sometimes even hurl insults even when asked a harmless question like "is the main station this way'. I see in hobby groups it's usually the men being friendly to each other, joking and bantering. In sports groups it's men who are coaching the young boys and girls. I volunteer on the weekends and there I see mostly men, doing heavy lifting, and joking around to make the work more bearable, while the women stand on the side and chatter, sometimes complaining about other people behind their back ("that guy didn't laugh at my joke, ew!").

Throughout history, male relationships have been about friendship, mentorship, brotherhood, and generally encouraging each other to be the best they can be while offering support. One of the oldest written stories in our history, The Epic of Gilgamesh, deals with a cruel and selfish king, Gilgamesh, becoming whole through his friendship with Enkidu, who is created and sent by the gods to become his friend. This keeps going throughout history: Damon and Phintias, with their friendship being so strong (both being willing to give up their life for each other) that even bloodthirsty tyrant Dionysius asked to become their friend. Queequeg and Ishmael, the fellowship in Lord of the Rings and so on. Let's not forget Jesus and his disciples. So, men don't need modern influencers to tell them to be kinder to each other.

In reality, male groups are usually demonzed for being 'exclusive'. For example, in my country we have fraternities for students (Studentenverbindungen or Burschenschaften). Those groups are for young men to get together, they offer men a living space, help with learning housekeeping and life skills, coaching each other on studying and finding a career path, and socializing by attending parties, gatherings, dances, and also some cultural skills like writing or historical knowledge. Sounds great, right? But the reality is these groups are demonized to hell because they are 'exclusive' and 'elitary'. It's true that some of them are right wing but there are also many that are non-political and have members from leftist and liberal parties, but they are all uniformely demonized and considered weird. When I started studying I and all the other students were uniformely told to stay far away from these groups. Most of their members who join are people who were familiar with them through family members and so they know that's they aren't a weird women hating cult. Meanwhile, the same groups exist for women and absolutely nobody bats an eye about it or calls it weird.

So who's being unkind to men? It's mostly women, and their simps. We just had a huge public debate where women argued that the average man is worse than a wild man eating forest creature. When some men expressed their shock at this and argued that men who are psychopathic torture killers are extremely rare, they were accused of being part of the problem and just as bad... for the grave sin of being kind to their fellow men and not assuming the worst about them. It was very telling that all the arguments on the pro-bear side would assume that the bear would behave the absolute best a bear can behave, and the man would behave the absolute worst a man can behave. A lot of them said "Bears aren't that bad, they are often cowardly and just want to avoid you'! as if men who are cowardly and just want to avoid you don't exist.

So what we get is this Catch 33 situation where 'man have to be kinder to each other' but also 'men who are kind to each other HATE WOMEN and are PART OF THE PROBLEM'.

Is it really surprising that men are dropping out of society, when they are taught from a young age that they are THE PROBLEM, they are THE VILLAIN, they are OPPRESSING (and annoying) WOMEN just by existing, and they can't even encourage each other to be better because that's ELITARY and EXCLUSIVE? Video games offer a chance where you can actually be the protag and do stuff without having to worry about oppressing someone just by standing next to them on the public transport, or existing in a STEM lecture, or going solo hiking in the forest. Real life used to be like that too before the man hating train started. You still get the idea when you talk to trad women (= women who see men as people) and older men. As a man in the modern world you are constantly told that you are a burden, that you make people uncomfortable by doing nothing at all, it's no surprise this has an effect on the mental health of boys and men, although men are largely doing pretty well compared to modern women still.
