How tall are you? How tall is your SO?

I'm 5'7. He's somewhere between 5'10 and 6', I'm not sure.

Did the height differential make any difference to you in sexual attraction, selection, etc.? Do you believe it made any difference to your partner/SO?

I like guys who are taller than me so I suppose so.

Edit: Well, I suppose age influenced selection for me because I never wanted to a date a guy more than a few years younger or older than me. But I mean, I met him in my early twenties when my entire social circle was roughly same-age peers, so it's not like it was a conscious decision I ever had to make. I have no idea if age played into his attraction/selection process but I doubt it.

Both me and the wife are 5'6".

A woman's height has nothing to do with her physical attractiveness for me, which is more related to: her face, her body shape (hourglass) and how shapely her legs/butt are as well as her styling/self-care.

I'm 30 and she just turned 29. I care more about mental/emotional maturity than the age, although if I had to find a partner today I'd prefer younger women due to them having more prime baby making years ahead for better family planning.

1) I’m 5’11”, he’s 5’7”. I’m used to being the taller one is relationships, I’ve been my current height since middle school. Plus I like heels so I’m usually even taller. He’s into the Amazonian height difference between us when I wear my taller shoes, for the most part though it doesn’t have much impact on our lives. We joke about it at times but it’s lighthearted.

2) I’m 34, he’s 45. When we met I thought he was younger and he thought I was older so we both assumed the other was about our age give or take. I wish he was a little closer in age to me but it is what it is. We have a lot in common interests wise, the age difference only comes up when referencing certain tv shows and such that the other missed.

Height- I'm 5'3" and my spouse is 5'11". I kinda have little dog syndrome where I think I'm way taller than I am, so it didn't play into it for me. I think my SO would have definitely still dated me if I was taller, but he likes how cute and short I am.

Age- I'm 24 and he's 29 (about a 4.5 year difference). It didnt play into anything a first because he didn't realize the age difference at all, and neither did I- we looked to be about the same age, within a year or two. It just never mattered or affected anything.

I'm like 5'10.5", almost 34 years old. My SO is 6'3"ish and 28 years old.

I did tend to gravitate toward taller and older than myself when I was dating, but I went out with just about anyone who showed an interest at least once -- never know what chemistry might happen! I had a couple shorter-term (less than a year) relationships with dudes who were shorter than myself so it wasn't really a deal-breaker.

My bf at 23 when I met him had his shit more together than a lot of the 35-ish year old dudes I'd dated before. I was out of school, living on my own, and wanted someone at the same life stage more than I cared about raw age.

ETA: I don't think my height or age made any difference to my bf at all. I was dtf and didn't make his life harder than it needed to be, and I find his gross sense of humour funny. We've been told repeatedly that we are soulmates. lol

I'm 5'2" and he's 6'5". Personally, I think he's too tall, and I'd much prefer him shorter. (Or me taller, whatever.) Sex is a pain in the ass.

He prefers short women and really tall women. He gets excited every time he sees a tall woman lol.

Me, I don't care about height. I've accepted everyone is taller than me, so whatever. I come from short stock, so this tall guy thing is confusing. I'd much rather be able to kiss his cheek or hug him without it being so difficult.

He's also 8 years older than me. I was 17, he was 25. I thought he was younger, he thought I was older. In his defense, we met at a bar. But the age difference didn't make either of us more attracted, it just became another obstacle. Trust me, it's not sexy to be offered a children's menu when you're on a date or getting together with friends.

I think he now loves me being younger. But I think that's because his favorite thing to do is brag about me, so he likes to tell EVERYONE that I'm young, fit, pretty, smart, educated, and a lawyer. It's his favorite subject matter.

I am 5'5 and my boyfriend is 6'0. Yes, I like tall, skinny guys so it mattered to me. Tall is fairly subjective though, my ex was 5'9 and I would have sworn him and my current boyfriend are the same height.

I'm 28 and my boyfriend is 27. I sometimes wish he was a year or two older than me just because I feel he is slightly behind me in maturity. He's into milfs and older women so I don't think my age has anything to do with his attraction.

2) I'm 47; he is 54 in a few weeks. I have generally dated my age or thereabouts. I'm enjoying dating someone a bit older. The youngest I've dated was 10 years younger. Never again.

I have been attracted to and dated people shorter than him (and, in fact, shorter than me). I know it's not a factor to me. He always comments on how small I am (I'm not, but "smaller than him" counts as small to him, I guess), so I'm sure he likes it, though I don't think being taller would be a dealbreaker.

2) I'm 22, he's 3.5 years older. I prefer to stick closer to my age but the difference is tolerable. I don't think he'd be into me if I were a decade older.

We're the same age, he was born a few months before me. I usually preferred guys a bit older than me, but he was very established and mature for his age so it worked.

Honestly, when you're this short it's hard to "see" height the same way. I can't tell how tall anyone is. You're all fucking tall to me. Men who are 5'5" look tall to me.

The fact that we're close in age would have actually been a mark against him, had I not been extremely attracted to him. I have tended to date much-older people (biggest age gap was 16 years), with the exception of my husband.

I am 5'4 and my husband is 5'11 but often wears boots of some sort and that tends to put him at about 6'1. Height is one of those weird things that shouldn't matter in attraction, but does. We are from a city where there are a ton of Hispanics (like me!), Hispanic men tend to be fairly short compared to white men (like my husband). This made my husband literally, stick out to me and his height was something that I found attractive, because it was so different than what I was used to. I think he likes that I'm so much shorter than him, it provides a good aesthetic. For example, at our wedding I didn't wear shoes (my mom's idea) so that our height difference would be even more noticable, especially in our pictures.

We are both currently 23, however I am 9 months older than him. This was weird for me for a while because I always wanted to be younger than my husband for some reason (this seems to run in my family). We started dating at 16 though, so I may have been hyper-focused on finding a mate that checked all the boxes and might have fixated on age. It doesn't matter to either of us now.

Her height didn't influence my attraction to her in any way. I'm not sure how my height influenced how attracted she was to me since it never occurred to me to ask her when we were still together.

In a sense I guess. I generally try to stick to women close to my age for dating (mid/late 30's to early/late 40's), granted it's not something written in stone and I have no problem going out with someone who falls outside that age range if there's enough mutual attraction.

Possibly, I think she tends to date people in more or less close to her age as well.

2) 32, she's 30. We met when we were young so at the time it didn't make a difference. Today, were I single, I'd probably try and date 26-28 year olds to give me a bit of a cushion before baby fever.

No difference to me, I've dated shorter and taller than myself, height isn't something that factors into sexual attraction for me. Don't think it did for him either - he hasn't exclusively been into tall girls historically or whatever.
2) I'm 32, he is 33 (25 and 26 when we met).
I'm generally attracted to guys around my age, as we tend to have more in common, and I would find it strange to date someone much younger or older than me (to the point that I'm generally not irl attracted to them as such, its like I just don't see them that way). I don't think age in itself is really a big factor in attractiveness for him, he has generally been with other women his age before me, and I know he sometimes finds older women attractive as well as younger ones.

1.) I'm 5'2, he's 5'9. I used to be very insecure about my height and thought I had to find a short guy so we wouldn't look weird together but it ended up being a non-issue. I think he likes that I'm short, at least he says it's cute. His mom is just as short as I am, idk if that has anything to do with it 😝 but srsly we met online so our height didn't feature in our first impressions of just seeing a picture.

I don't think it matters. In fact, I like being able to reach him. Being closer in height also probably makes sex easier.

2) 22 and 23.

Age keeps us in the same 'life situations'. In college at the same time, going into the workforce around the same time. So We have more empathy and understanding for each other's situations. I don't think age really affects my sexual attraction to him. I'd be attracted to him at nearly any age. But I wouldn't like a weird power dynamic with someone much older than me.

He’s 5’11 and I’m 5’2. I definitely like the fact that he’s taller than me and it contributes to my sexual attraction to him. Before I met him, however, I wasn’t strictly attracted to guys that were as tall or taller than him. I like it when a guy is taller than me, even if just by a little tiny bit, which is easy because almost everyone I meet is taller than me. I’ve asked my husband if he is specifically attracted to petiteness and he says that my height doesn’t really make a difference to him.
Both of us are 25. We’ve been together since high school and us being the same age definitely influenced our decision to be together. As teenagers we were similar in our desire to meet our future spouses young and stay together throughout the milestones of graduating, moving out of our hometown, going to college, etc. I still believe that the fact that we experienced most of our teenaged years and all of adult life together is one of our strongest foundations. As far as how our ages affect our sexual attraction to each other, I really don’t know how to answer because we’ve only ever been with each other romantically and sexually, so neither of us have experience selecting other partners.

1.) I'm 5'3", my husband is 5'9". I didn't realize height was such a strong aspect/contention of sexual attraction until I came to Reddit. I think I took for granted the fact that most men I have and ever will encounter are taller than 5'3", which is good enough for me as a height requirement. I know my husband isn't attracted to taller/bigger girls (had a few bad lays with the bigguns in college), but I don't think he's drawn to short women because of their shortness. I think he's more attracted to proportionality.

2.) I'm 34, my husband is 35. I never specifically sought out a same age peer, but I know that I would never seek out someone 5+ years older than me. Despite my parents loving and stable marriage, I have issues regarding their 25 year age gap which have tainted my dating habits and beliefs.

I'm not sure my age influences my husband's attraction to me, or if he has any feelings about my age at all. As far as I can tell our age is only relevant regarding my issues, and the setting in which we met (college). I do know my husband has spoken poorly about a friend of his dating a much older woman, but I don't think its a particular issue he cares about in depth. When I've brought up "younger women" (for sexual play) he seems pretty turned off by the concept, or at least uninterested. His reservations are: annoying as fuck, I don't want to teach them, boring in the sack, more likely to be crazy and a social liability, too sensitive and stupid.

1) I am 5’3” and some change, Husband is 6’4”. I find his stature attractive but we started dating before online dating was really a thing and height wasn’t as a big of a deal. (Fight me. Being 6’+ wasn’t as impressive when people were meeting in person. Women have to imagine presence from badly written, 8 word descriptions and saying 6’+ is a sure fire way to get them imagining this.) He finds our height difference funny. Mostly my continued belief that I am taller than I am or my shock when I see our reflection.

2) I am 34, he is 37. I was 21 when we started dating but we were still in college and had the same friends and interests. That overlap was key for us in the beginning. Me being a few years younger likely didn’t hurt in making me seem “easy, fun, no pressure” compared to the other girls trying to lock him down in college.

I like them to be shorter than me, and they’re all roughly in the ‘average female height’ category. I have to say I was a little apprehensive about the shorter ones (5ft3), because an 11 inch height difference is quite substantial.

The general trend is that as I get older the age gap gets bigger, so in real terms I’m attracted to 18-22 year old girls. I hadn’t actually been acutely aware of this until I wrote down the figures. Clearly my attraction to them is based on the average age of females’ peak fertility. I’ve only included relationships that lasted for a significant extended period of time, I have had brief encounters with girls older than 22, and some of these girls were older than 22 when we broke up.

5’9, OH also 5’9 (I think he’s a fraction shorter than me but he’s adamant I am, so we’re probs save height). I’m not allowed to wear heels when I go out with him, but he’s strong enough to still pick me up etc so doesn’t make me feel big which meant it didn’t bother me.

I'm 5'9", my husband is 6'2". His height absolutely made a difference in terms of attraction. I come from a very tall family. All the men are over 6'. My grandfather and uncle are 6'8". For me height and masculinity are almost interchangeable; short men might be masculine but tall men cannot be unmasculine. I'm 43. My husband is 45. He could have been 10 years older than me (we met when I was 35) and I would have still been attracted to him. I'm not sure why he chose a woman near his age. He certainly could have landed a younger one. I'm glad he didn't.

I'm 5'8". My wife is 5'6".

I don't care how tall a woman is. My wife says that she just likes a man to be taller than her, and I guess two inches taller is good enough for her.

My wife is five years younger than me. I'm almost never attracted to older women, especially now that I'm at my present age (mid-40's). I have no idea what my wife's age preference is. Just that a man is around the same age as her, I suppose.

I am 6'1(luckily) my current SO is 5'9 and my last was 5' even. I think I prefer somewhere in the middle but neither really is an issue. There is a 6' girl in my office I would totally smash that but I don't think on average I am looking for uber tall ladies.
I am 25 my SO is 22 finishing up her BA. I have dated girls younger and while fun the age difference makes things weird after a while. I still have fairly little experience with older women but would not mind the opportunity.

I'm 5'6"; Mr. Upton is 6'2". When we first met, I was somewhat unnerved by his size. I grew up around white ethnics who topped out at 5'10", max. The office where I met Mr. Upton had three guys, of whom he was one, who were all 6'2" or taller, all of whom were in outstanding shape. One was a former AAA pitcher. I had never met a man of that size or shape before and I spent the first few months there wondering where these giant dudes had come from.

Now, of course, I am used to his height and size.

Edit: I don't know if my height made any difference for him. Just about every woman is shorter than he is, so. There was a woman who lived in our old building who was about 6'3". He thought she was hot.

I am 43 - 44 on Monday - and Mr. Upton is 48. Age was a nonissue for us.

If I'm seeing or dating a woman she'll eventually point out my height in a tone that suggests that she's surprised that she was attracted to me begin with, which is funny because they're typically very short and I'm pretty much as tall or short (however you want to call it) as most guys round 'here.

I think there's a disconnect with women's perception of their attraction to height (must be 6ft), and their actual attraction to height (they like the difference in height, but not in the radical way that you see on dating sites, where the numeral takes precedence over the actual difference in height.)

Most of my G/Friends have been average height for women or slightly below.... so maybe there is a thing going on there I can't access. Same on her side, given what we know about how instinctive attraction works I'm almost sure that sub-consciously it was a factor.

Age wise.... I'm now 42 (sigh) and she's 38.

We met in college when I was 19 and he was 22 so age wasn’t really a factor - we are close in age there’s nothing really to notice with a mere three year difference.

Height I guess because my type is tall and skinnyish while toned but not muscular if that makes sense and he fits that to a T. Height has never been some dealbreaker though I had a prior BF who was 5’8”.

Yes, it did. I think my cut-off point is /u/smurfesmurferson (I'm sure she'll be delighted and hugely flattered to learn!). If I'm with someone who is literally 5' then I just feel that I'm towering over them. I don't find that appealing. 5'4" - 5'8" is my ideal height.

I'm sure if I wasn't taller than her it could have been an issue. When you are reasonably tall then you do take it for granted, but I accept that being short is a disadvantage.

Possibly to some extent, but far more important was that we get on really well, have a lot in common, and very similar taste in many things. When I started seeing her, I obviously considered that the age gap might mean we have nothing in common, but it really isn't an issue at all, far less than I even would have hoped for in an ideal scenario.

Having said that, of course it is somewhat flattering to date a younger woman.

I generally like that he's taller than me and I think he likes that I'm shorter than him; the precise ratio doesn't feel like it matters much. It would have struck me as odd if he were shorter than me because that would be really short for a guy, but all else being equal I doubt it would've stopped me from dating him; same for if he were over 6 ft

both of us are in our early 30s. for me personally I think it was important to be roughly the same age in terms of being able to relate to him and feeling like we were on equal footing

probably, most of the girls that like me are around that height. I notice the height difference a lot less than other short girls I've dated so I'd say we work well together

Yes, I've dated short guys (like 5'5") but I prefer guys that are my height or taller. My husband has said he doesn't like short girls and wouldn't date anyone shorter than 5'5" or so. But I'm betting he'd make an exception for someone hot enough (just like I would).

I don't think height made a difference at the time. Taller than me isn't a shared trait in people I dated. I had a thing for great faces though I'll own that.

But I have specific happy memories now that are attached to his height, so it is an attractive trait. Also he was into weird shit in LA, but drama and violence didn't happen around him and by extension me. I'm not dumb enough to assume it's because he was "just so nice!"

Age was definitely a factor on his part. Not in a perv out with a 20yr old sense either. He was with women around his age who thought vulnerability and drama were interchangeable concepts. I know there's a lot of talk here and elsewhere about women being "used up" in a sexual sense before settling down, but 100% honestly: his focus was on firsts that didn't involve holes. Travel, experiences, etc. The emphasis on sex I see online isn't what I see/experienced irl when it comes to firsts and shared memories.

He was the one with baby rabies. Idk if that's tied to going younger in dating for him but it's worth mentioning because that is so often put on women here.

I'm 6'4" my GF is 5'7". My first wife was 5'9". My second wife was 5'6". I've dated women from 5'1" to 6'4". Most women seem to see my height as a positive. My first wife especially liked tall guys (the guy she cheated on me with was 6'7"). The 6'4" woman was a former college basketball player. It was actually pretty cool being with someone the same height.

I'm 54. My first wife was 6 months younger. My second wife 6 years younger. My GF is 12 years younger. I'm seeing a trend.

I’m 5’4ish. He’s just over 6ft. I love that he’s tall. It’s always been an attractive trait to me. I love when hugs cover your whole body.

I’m 29 and he’s 32. It seems weird to say it played a role in attraction. It’s more like if there were a bigger age difference, it would be a barrier to our relationship. But lack of barrier isn’t necessarily a plus, it that makes sense. When we met we were at similar places in our lives, and that definitely helped.

1) 192&154 cm respectively Yes, but not a huge one. I generally dont like girls 175 and up, but there is not that many of them anyways. I dont think my SO is very picky in terms of height, her ex was 170.

2) Late/early twenties, we have 7 years difference. My SO is very vocal about her age preferences, anyone under 25 doesnt even register on her radar.

Male. I'm roughly 5'8"-5'9". My partners have ranged from 5'3" to 5'11"ish. I've been intimate with women ranging from 4'10" up to 6'0".

Height is generally irrelevant to me. It doesn't impact my attraction to my partner. My partners have never expressed that my height is a turn off, but I'm sure they wouldn't have been upset if I were a few inches taller. I'm an outlier, I'm in the top percentile of looks, so the height issue hasn't been an obstacle aside from a few particular women. If you're very attractive, the height requirement seems to drop significantly. I never have trouble finding 7+ women for flings or relationships.

I'm 27. My partners have generally been about 3 years younger than me. I generally prefer my partner to be younger, but it's a case by case basis. Within a couple years either way is generally irrelevant to me. I imagine it's similar for most of the women I've been with. I can easily find women interested in me from 18 up to 40. It really depends on the individual. As an average, I tend to be older than most women who are interested in me. They may attribute it to older men being "less immature" but that's mostly cognitive dissonance. Age doesn't necessarily correlate with maturity. I imagine this stems from cultural norms.
