I like that there are finally some studies giving some support to the "20% of men are having the majority of the sex". And the percentages are pretty much what I had guesstimated them to be.

Though the article/research attributes inceldom mainly to lack of marriage, residence with parents, lower religiosity (contributing to lack of marriage), and education levels, what's really going on is that women don't need these men, don't want these men, and these men aren't attractive. More and more men at the bottom of the SMV chain are getting squeezed out of the market. And that "bottom" is being moved upwards as more and more women flock to Chads; and more and more non-chads aren't ready for marriage (or much of anything else, really) when Stacy, Becky and Jane decide they're finally ready to tie the knot.

We've always had a small surplus of men who can't get married or cant get sex. The difference is that they now have internet connections and are talking to each other, and they aren't being shunted where they used to be (the military, religious orders, etc.).

What I find fascinating is that more and more married men are reporting sexlessness. I told you so.

yes, the people having lots of casual sex are the people who spend a lot of time drinking and partying and (usually) aren't very ambitious or career-driven. the hard-working nerd who has to get up in the morning for work isn't partaking because he isn't part of that scene. casual sex is insanely awkward when you're sober.

it boils down to personality and lifestyle choices more than appearance. it appeals to people who are very extroverted and unconcerned about the future, which I'd put at right about 20% of the population.

The study supports NAWALT by showing that female sexlessness has basically not changed or has even slightly increased, but supports the TRP narrative slightly in that the women who are having a lot of sex seem to be clustering towards certain men.

In reality, according to the GSS, the top 20% of the most sexually active never-married young men have about 50-60% of the sex.

So their argument to say that 80/20 isn't true at all is that its really more like 55/20? Is that really an argument? It sounds like its saying "Well, its not THAT bad, but its pretty close"

What bothers me about these studies is they always seem to use a metric, in this case “had at least 1 partner in the last year,” that obscures the whole picture.

I always think of a girl i used to know. We hooked up a couple times, then she started dating someone. I went through about 14 months of involuntary celibacy, hooked up with one other girl, then another 6 months of celibacy. She dated the guy for about a year, they broke up, then she went on a 6 month hook up spree with around 20 guys.

By the metric in the article, we’d both be in the top 20% having all the sex, but that doesnt tell the full story at all. And depending one when the “in the last year” question was asked, i may have never even been counted as celibate despite being so for over a year.

It also obscures another trend I’ve seen happen where a girl goes on a similar hookup spree, then decides she wants something serious before having sex. She still goes on dates twice a week but doesnt actually have sex for a year. She could be counted in those celibate numbers.

I dont know if thise scenarios are significant enough to be statistically relevant, and i havent been able to find the data to confirm or deny. So while this is all technically true, it makes me think of the old saying “lies, damn lies, and statistics”

The main factor driving this trend, however, isn’t Chads and Stacies, but just declining marriage rates among young men.

I question the legitimacy of this argument when further up in their own article they literally stated that male sexlessness is rising among married men.

They paint lack of marriage as the problem and thus imply marriage to be the answer, but the data doesn't support the latter is sexlessness marriages are increasing.

The NSFG also shows that virginity, both voluntary and involuntary, is higher among men living with their parents, as shown in the figure below.

I can agree with this to an extent, especially wrt living with parents, but I find it surprising that data shows higher education correlates with more virginity considering that when I was at uni everyone spent half the time drunk and banging each other, and the norm is to live in university accommodation not at home.

If those men want to find a partner they will have to try harder. Just showing up isn't going to cut it, and we have to stop telling boys and men they are entitled to relationships/sex. That is how we get school shooters. Women have used skin care etc. forever, it's probably time men start doing the same. If you want to be attractive to women, you have to put in some actual effort.

I think men need to be more aggressive and gentlemanly. I was attractive enough to get model scouted in my 20s. But I went 11 months without sex when I was 24-25 - arguably the most attractive year of my life, and it was not “voluntary.” I was 5’8”, 110, 30D-22-35. For people who think that is too skinny, it isn’t as skinny as most models so stfu. As soon as I got on Tinder, I matched with every guy I right-swiped.

I was “involuntarily celibate” because I literally just didn’t know how to get laid. Back then, I didn’t know how to approach guys. There was maybe one guy who approached me but I thought he was out of my league and didn’t realize he was hitting on me because he wasn’t clear enough. I needed someone to come up to me and ask me out on a date. That never happened.

I think men are not approaching women and that is the problem. They definitely are not approaching women and respectfully asking them out on dates as much as they used to. So all this crap about it being women’s faults is bs.

I’m easily in the 95th percentile of attractiveness, especially for my age, and I will go out with almost any guy who walks up to me, engages me respectfully, and asks me on a dinner date. Just something to keep in mind.
