I’d still choose a career. You can’t bet on a relationship lasting and money gives you a lot more options.

I feel the attitude of young girls living off men is mostly cultural though - the SAHM trope particularly is a very conservative/Puritan US mindset that doesn’t exist at all in Australia/Europe now IMO. Tbh I think it’s also class dependent. UMC are raised to get degrees and careers.

Yeah that is what I did. Well, I wasn’t “building a career” from 18-25, that was college through law school, then I started my career.

Being a sugar baby or something like it seems like it would be very fleeting and unsteady, plus you’d have to deal with a lot of creeps and expectations of sex. Plus I just find it icky and I doubt I’d have the patience for it although I don’t exactly know what all it entails

I did both. Wouldn't do it again though, I'd just have focused more on my career and more wholesome activities. Making money from men's dick lust really enables toxic thinking and it took me years to unlearn many mannerisms that had me come off way too thottish

i actually side tracked my career between the ages of 20 - 25 to maximize what my attractiveness afforded me (granted, i was making a lot of money doing it so??) and i would do it again because i am not naturally ambitious and i don't see myself working fulltime after children.

Of course I'm building a career, ffs this isn't 1850. I couldn't imagine being so vapid and passionless about anything that I wouldn't explore any of the many meaningful and interesting vocations that exist. I found a field that I love, so of course I'm going to pursue it and make money along the way.

On a purely financial level, it's also silly- most guys in this age range are just as broke as I am, so good luck finding your ticket out, as it were. It simply cannot exist for most people. And heavens forbid the horse you hitched your financial wagon to dies or dumps you without any earning potential. Plus, you really can't beat the DINK life before kids come along. My SO and I want a big family one day, but we both know that means that the two of us have to grind it out for the next few years making as much money as possible so that those early years of parenthood aren't as financially disastrous.

Men think that they can work and sustain a family forever. Companies are not secure and don't offer benefits like they did in the past. Folks are living longer. So you better have a plan beyond sex and looks for ages 50-70. Even if a man works a steady job, will his pension, health insurance and salary cover a family of four for 40 working years (ages 25-65)?

I know lots of men who are hit with a sad reality around 40 when jobs no longer hire, lay off and the woman is not skilled to work, yet you still have children who need to health insurance, college and provision.

Women must build a career and savings. Marriage to a man is not a financial plan.

I'd choose the career because just being a housewife seems dull. I wouldn't be a "career woman," though, wouldn't be upset if I were passed up for promotions, and would probably spend a significant amount of time trying to find a decent, loyal guy rather than focusing so much time on my career.

Most anyone who works in an office should too. A woman with a career is smart, dedicated, but not overcommitted. Her ceiling is likely middle management which isn’t a bad lifestyle.

Career women will put off other responsibilities to focus on career. That includes family, self, relationships. This means long hours, traveling, moving cities, and evenings happy hour networking. They live to move up the little bubble heiarchy they live in with their office. These are women almost avoid in relationships for many reasons

I also didnt notice a decline in interest from opposite sex but I do notice the loss of permanency of jobs and the importance of experience.

What I'd never ever want is to financially depend on anyone, especially anyone who isn't my parent.

From 18-25 I went to college and got a degree. Then I started a freelance business. I switched over to a career type of job where I make six figures.

I'm also an escort. I see a couple guys per week. They come by we hang out, go to dinner and have a genuinely nice time (most if the time). I'll also clear 6 figs there. It doesn't interrupt my work.

I do well at both and my bank account is happy as I am. I have zero debt and I'm saving to buy a house in the area with some of the most expensive real estate on the US.

I can't be a sugar baby. I don't have the patience for that. As for house wife, I already work from home so I guess if still be home but I don't give up work. I'd just have a more flexible schedule than my commuting spouse.

I was in this situation and did not. I don't personally have any regrets, although I've had to play catch up in the years since, which is hard to do with a family and when you start dealing with inevitable hardships (ex: loss of parents, serious illness, economic recession). I wanted to prioritize my family though, partly because my parents were older when I was born and they were always too tired to do anything with me. In retrospect it wasn't just their age, but I'm not going into that here.

I don't love money. I'm relatively low maintenance and see it as a means to an end. I'm more interested in getting satisfaction out of my performance and helping my community.

Even if I wanted to, I don't think I could have gone through with something like sugaring. Those girls are very good at masking their true thoughts and feelings from their patrons and selling a picture of what he wants. I suffer from foot-in-mouth syndrome.

Definitely I would have a career. I'd choose carefully so it offered flexibility to be downgraded to just a goddamn job if necessary, but I would try for establishing the groundwork of a career. You're alive for decades after your youngest child gets old enough to get to school by bus and have their own house key, if you set yourself up so that all you are qualified and experienced to be doing in those decades is being dependent on a man's wages and catering to the desire of others not to do housework then sucks to be you.

Dependency is never the answer. Freedom is everything. Too many women waste the potential of their younger years. Money is everything until it's not. If you can use your looks to stack and SAVE some serious cash, and I mean serious retire by 26 years old cash, then go for it. Otherwise find yourself a lucrative field to get into, stay the hell out of debt, and make it a goal to retire by 28. Keep the looks game as a side gig. What people do when they're powerless means nothing. If a woman has no skills/education/means of employment on her own and latches onto a guy, she's effectively powerless. Resentment building up on her end is a real possibility. Being able to support yourself but then choosing to be a SAHM is a different story, because it's a choice you're making out of abundance and is something you genuinely want to do.

Only shallow women with little ambition would make it a goal to be a housewife or a sugar baby. Most people start out with goal to create a career for themselves and actually build their lives and reputation. Women then get side-tracked and stall their career to spend more time with their children. Then again, many women try to continue their career after the kids have grown a bit, but they will never get those years back and their career will almost never be as great as their husbands.

I'm still a young woman and I want to build a career for myself. It's incredibly unlikely that I'll have kids.
