Male thirst has become a huge problem. I can post on an anonymous site and imply that I’m a woman and get tons of messages from men. They don’t see what I look like and I don’t even explicitly say I’m a woman but still they message. Male attention is virtually worthless imo

However female pickiness is something that can be affected.Women weren't as picky before 2008 for example.These men aren't interested in these women for anything more than a pump and dump.If women were more realistic they would get relationships more easily and of better quality.

Well then I'd have to say it seems like a self defeating cycle for the men if we want to follow things with this logic.

On one hand you'll have have the average man go with their supposed thirst, inevitably aiding in their dissatisfaction.

Or you'll have the average man that doesn't go through with their again supposed thirst, but they'll be at even more of a disadvantage as they've yet to even play the game.

So with this being established I have to ask, what would you all have men do then? I'm not trying to say one or the other is correct here, I'm just noting what I see personally from this train of thought. And please do remember that it's ultimately not a game of who's right or wrong, but something more akin to whom is it that can change these problems through their actions alone.

Male thirst is more nuanced that many women and men admit, though. First, I think the idea that high value men will sleep with anything is overstated. I was very much a late bloomer, and so once I finally started figuring things out a bit, I was eager to just get experience. I think that was fine for a time. But now, frankly, I don't get excited about women above a certain caliber. Never thought I was turn down "sure things" but here we are. This is how most of my natural friends have operated for years. We have some degree of abundance, too.

Also women don't just want sex with high value dudes they want commitment from them. They'll appear to settle for the sex but that's not what they truly want. And accruing 2000 matches with random dudes you have no investment doesn't solve this. It's a temporary validation but not an ultimate one.

Male thirst is a real thing and leads men to poor choices in women. Women's need for validation leads them to make poor choices as well.

Male thirst is a symptom of a deeper problem.

Girls can hug other girls. Girls can kiss other girls. Girls can cuddle other girls.

If a woman has no man in her life, she will never want for any kind of physical closeness at all. She can have as many or as few partners as she wants, and she will be judged either way (either she's a virgin and there's something wrong with her, or she's had too many partners and she's a slut). Sucks, but the judgment is there, so at least if you'll get flak either way might as well do what you want right?

For guys, if you do any of the above, it's gay/feminine/weak/weird. The guys in American/Canadian culture can't cuddle, can't kiss, and if they hug it can't be for more than 3-4 seconds or else it's awkward and gay.

I suspect for gay guys it's less of a problem, because being called gay when you are in fact gay doesn't matter as much, but for all the straight men, that's absolutely a no-go. You cannot do that.

The only people that men are allowed to be close, physically and emotionally, is with their girlfriend. If they want hugs, kisses, and cuddles, that is literally the only situation in which they're allowed to have that. Otherwise, you can kiss good-bye to any kind of physical comfort or emotional intimacy, except maybe hugs from your mother. That's it, 2 people in your life you're allowed to be emotionally and physically close to.

Couple that with the horribly wrong fact that "every man wants sex all the time", that the value of a guy depends in part on how many chicks he can bang, and there's a huge relentless pressure to get laid as often as possible. If you can't, you're a virgin, you're a loser, you're less of a man, there's something wrong with you.

This is all incredibly damaging and toxic to human emotional development and self-esteem, and yet that's exactly what most boys and men have gone through.

So yes, male thirst is a problem. It's a problem that is also rooted in the fact men are only allowed physical and emotional intimacy with girls/women they're sleeping with. The more women pull back (understandably) and reject men, the more starved of emotional and physical affection men are.

I'm not saying men are entitled to women because of this, or that all women should just give guys the emotional and physical intimacy they need.

I'm saying there's a huge problem that causes male thirst, and turning around and blaming men for the thirst they have, due in part from issues over which men have little to no control over, is sticking men between a rock and a hard place and then blaming them for their misery. Like it or not they're stuck with their thirst, they don't like it either, but when you're borderline dying of thirst all the time you'll do what you can to sate it.

1. Feelings of emptiness.

Do you find it hard to know what you are capable of? What are your strengths and weaknesses? What do you like? What do you want? What matters to you? Struggling to answer these questions is a sign that you don’t know yourself as well as you should.

This one on the other hand applies less, because there's a very clear thing that men have to do right and know how to do. They have to be strong, reliable, tough, make money, be stoic and dependable, never need help, and always be willing to help out, right? Men got this, except that now that image of traditional masculinity is under attack. Men have to be strong, but they're attacked for that strength because they intimidate and attack women with it. Men have to be tough, stoic, and dependable, but they also have to be sensitive and fragile and vulnerable and talk about their emotions, and yet they can be attacked as weak for doing exactly that. Men have to make more money than women, but women want to make more money and now broke men are hurting America's marriage prospects.

What exactly is a man to do? What is he supposed to do to meet the approval and validation every human being desperately needs? If a man is getting less validation, then he has to try twice as hard to get the girl, because that's how he'll get more emotional validation right?

4. No compassion for yourself, plenty for others.

Are you harder on yourself than you would ever be on a friend? Do others talk to you about their problems, but it’s hard for you to share yours?

Do I really need to go into this? There's a reason that men are more than 3X as likely to kill themselves than women.

Besides, men's depression goes under-reported and unnoticed. From the same article as above:

5. Guilt, shame, self-directed anger, and blame.

Guilt, shame, anger, and blame; The Fabulous Four, all directed at yourself. Some people have a tendency to go straight to guilt and shame whenever a negative event happens in their lives. Do you feel ashamed of things that most people would never be ashamed of? Like having needs, making mistakes, or having feelings?

If you can't get a girlfriend, what's wrong with you? You feel guilty that you can't do what others got, you're ashamed of being a virgin, upset at yourself for your failure, and you don't know who or what to blame. Yourself for failing? Women for rejecting you? Combine that with women being the main source of emotional validation and physical comfort for men, with rejection not just being a denial of you as a good partner but also the deprivation of those essential needs, and you've got a rather toxic combination there. 6. Feeling fatally flawed.

This is that deep sense I talked about above. You know that something is wrong in your life, but you can’t pinpoint what it is. “It’s me,” you say to yourself, and you feel that it is true. “I’m not likable,” “I’m different than other people.” “Something is wrong with me.”

7. Difficulty feeling, identifying, managing and/or expressing emotions.

Do you get tongue-tied when you’re upset? Have a limited vocabulary of emotion words? Often feel confused about why people (including yourself) feel or act the way they do?

How often are men told that they have to open up and communicate more of their feelings? It's not easy after years of repression, of being told to man up, to deal with it, to keep it to themselves. Then, there are many who do open up, and who get burned when things admitted in a moment of weakness is used against them.

So yes, male thirst is a problem. It's also a symptom of a much deeper and more systemic issue that's gone for the most part unrecognized and unaddressed, from mental health to emotional validation to physical comfort.

It's not just that men are thirsty because they want sex. That much is usually true, especially since sex tends to be better and have far less drawbacks as men.

But it's also because men are on average cripplingly deprived of emotional validation and physical comfort. Since this is what boys and men have only ever known, many think that sex is the solution. In fact the need for emotional intimacy can be just as much of a driver, but since men don't know this, and they're emotionally deprived, they think that it's just being "thirsty", it's just the normal thing for men, and that they just need to have sex and it'll all be good.

It's a terrible and terribly complicated situation that can't be solved overnight, but it seems to me this is one area that as a society we have utterly failed to recognize, and characterizing it as just "men be thirsty" is both ignoring the actual problem and blaming men for trying to deal with it the only way they know how.
