There is a minority of men that spam unsolicited dick picks to women. This makes women think the majority of men send dick picks since every woman they know has gotten them. It makes men not understand what women are complaining about because as far as they know they don't know many if any men that send dick picks.

The most common kind of dick pic is probably of the unsolicited variety. Women I know in real life have talked about receiving them and I've heard it a lot online as well.

In terms of consensual ones, I think an explicit request for a dick pic probably isn't very common but women definitely fish for dick pics by trying to get you to talk about how hard you are for them and to show them, and stuff like that.

The men who send dick pics retrieve them from Google images, or some porn site. They'll send it to 100 women. Most will ignore them, some will react aggressively, but some will react positively.

There are incels who jerk off to sexting initiated by a pic sent of another guy's larger (6+ inch) dick. Spamming enough dick picks, you might even get nudes in return. It's a thrill for them, interaction.

Nobody is going to spam 100 messages unless they've realized that some will respond positively, even if it's only 2%.

I've never sent an unsolicited dick pic. I have however been asked for them, usually before or after getting something as well. Exchanging nudes is kind of a natural part of dating someone you're attracted to and want to be sexual with in 2021. But the above qualifiers are important, because the woman involved generally asks, and is also giving pictures back without prompting or coercion. If you both have pictures of each other and both sets of images were freely given that's a very different dynamic from sending one unprompted or one side collecting nudes while the other has a clean phone and message history.

I wouldn't say a woman isn't attracted to you if she isn't after your dick pics, but it's a very direct way for a woman to tell you she's attracted to you and wants to fuck you.
