When will men get it through their thick heads that casually calling your partner a gross name isn't funny!? It's disrespectful and rude. Why the fuck would she want to be greeted that way? Would he like to be greeted with a 'hey fuckwit with the beer belly'??
[–]motioncaptureFFDS Newbie[S] 127 points128 points129 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I guess we know the answer ... That'll take empathy and seeing woman as humans first 🤡
[–]bepbep747 18 points19 points20 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Just answer "Oh hey there lil' ole limp dick!" And listen to his howls of indignation. 😎

My deal is ask, then tell, then we're up to consequences, and if that makes me sound like the retired teacher I am, so be it. I've said this (hey fuckwit with the beer belly, or whatever physical characteristic they're most insecure about) to men before, and results are amazing. The behavior instantly stops, and if there's a bad case of butthurt, I do not care. They brought it on themselves, and again... power, control, dominance. Flip that script, give him a taste of his own. Works wonders, nearly every single time.
What I don't get, don't comprehend, and cannot deal with is people who LIKE to roast, who eat up insults and roasting like it's energy. That utterly depletes me. If they instigate just to start a negative interaction, I physically leave.

My ex, after I broke up with him and while helping him move out of my house, did the fake-punch-wind-up at me. I told him what he did was unacceptable and to leave immediately
He argued but I persisted and put the rest of his stuff on the lawn for him to get.
It’s not funny and I don’t interact with men who use (even pretend) violence and ugly words at me

I'm so glad you are aware and out of that relationship!
This is a form of boundary pushing. They pull these stunts to gain control and increase abuse. If you make no moves to stop them, they slowly escalate. First it's "Just playing", then after an "accidental pop in the nose", it's sorry I didn't realize I was that close, then after that its "I didn't know my own strength.", then it;s "Well, if you hadn't pissed me off I wouldn't have done it."
Ugh, the amount of shit I am going to have to teach my eventual kids about what is okay and not okay just breaks my heart.

I remember being four or five and waking up I'm guessing due to hearing my mother and her husband arguing because I walked out into the hall and could see him holding one of those ground fans that have a long pole over his head aimed at her while she was sitting on the ground. They told me to go back to bed. I did. The next morning police officers were there, we moved out, they got a divorced, etc.
It didn't hit me that she was a victim of domestic/male violence until I was about twenty-two.
A few years later, she filled me in on more details of their relationship. About how he hit her hard on her thigh once and how she was bewildered as to why he hit her so hard. She had a bruise. This was before the fan incident.
Boundary pushing for sure.

Holy shit! I had something very similar happen to me!
I was moving out (moving a heavy box of antique glassware and mugs) when my ex wound up and punched, stopping just barely touching the bridge of my nose so that he didn't actually punch me. Then he kicked my box and broke a bunch of the glasses and mugs.
When I said you almost punched me in the face, his response was "I wasn't really going to do it so I don't consider it 'almost punching you in the face.' "

She doesn't understand how that's a joke.
She understands that it was a joke, what she doesn't understand is why you think it's funny or why you think that she should think it's funny or why you thought you could call her a hoe and then act like the victim when she didn't laugh.
Weak men hiding behind "Y U No Understand JOKE??" is such cringe. YOU are the joke, my dude. You just aren't funny.

If you go back to like 2005/2006, that was peak humor. A lot of people who aren't actually funny will just repeat things other people said that got a laugh. A lot of immature people just stay in the shit they liked age 12-18. Thus you get a person somehow coming to the conclusion that answering the phone like that for his girlfriend in 2021 would be funny.
[–]riddlepoe 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My ex twice called me (also my family, there was a cuss saying that basically disrespected a person’s father) an ugly name in his native language. I pressured his friends to translate it for me right then and there. It was vile.
He called me derogatory names, too. Once, to “call me out”. Another, it seemed like it slipped casually, but was said in front of his friend when him and I were on a call.
I’d call him out and bite back, but did that change anything? No. If that ever happens again, I’ll be out.

Yes! Of all “jokey” greetings to choose, why was this the most natural to him instead of a “What’s up, boo” or “What’s up, babe”? It’s one reason why I disagree with the saying “communication is always key” 🤢. No, there are some basic things that reveal an incompatibility if women have to tell grown men to do them. Ex: not using derogatory terms for women, not having a moldy bathtub, not continuing to pressure for sex when told no…

Unfortunately, this is common younger millennial and Gen Z speak. I had a male friend and he’d started calling me ‘ho’ casually. My retired pick-me self thought it was so cool, and I started calling him that too. Eventually he also starting using ‘slut’ and ‘whore’.
Needless to say, he’s not my friend anymore, and I will never let anyone gaslight me into thinking it’s cool to call me derogatory terms.

I can guarantee she understands it was a joke but still doesn't like it. A misogynistic joke is still misogynistic, the 'joke' part doesn't completely override it. I wouldn't tolerate this either, I take jokes like this as just their inner misogyny slipping out.
