I go to a technical college in a rural town, and I'd be weary of any men in male dominated technical fields. Mechanics, linemen, welding, etc. I have a class that focuses on communication in the workplace as well as social and culture differences; the amount of proud ignorance and disrespect is unreal and sickening. They egg each other on, and encourage one another to be as vulgar and offensive as possible. Not a place where you're going to find many men worth your time.

OMFG. This was my list. Whenever I say stuff like this, I get banned for "dehumanizing" from other subreddits when I was REALLY warning women that these professions attract men who tend to be abusive. These professions also tend to look past a man's criminal record and tend to give men with abusive and violent tendencies "a second chance" at life.

Avoid:

- Veterans. ALL of them. Navy, airforce, even if he was "just an engineer". NOPE. AVOID HIM.

- ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT PROFESSIONAL. Even the "desk jockeys". This includes men working for the FBI, the CIA, the VA, the NSA, DHS, Department of State, etc. etc.

- Paramedics, first responders

- "martial artists"

- Bodybuilders

Former member of the military here: in all fairness there are some really good dudes in all of these professions. But there are also some really bad ones. There were dudes in my unit who had “unit girlfriends” when they had wives at home. It sucked. I always tell my friends now to think long and hard about considering a military dude.

Not all of these men are created equal - military men are rough, but you’re going to find a diamond or two. I met some wonderful guys that all ended up with great careers and beautiful families - I’m still in touch with a good number of them and tbh, I’m a little jealous. They can be old fashioned, but I only know of one divorce in the group and it was not really anything that gets talked about here (raising a special needs child will tear up a marriage....)

Don’t date anyone under an E-5, try and find an officer. They are more settled and proven in their career. The rest of the rules still apply.

Totally agree. Plus once it get serious you don’t want to have kids with someone who travels / works shifts. You want 50\50 childcare. Get a man who understands that both your careers will take a childcare hit, but that you’ll be much better off by both earning $75k than one $0 and one $150k. Get a man who views having children and earning money as a team effort, not an excuse for him to work long hours then fuck his secretary as you don’t ‘understand him’ anymore.
