“Mental health advocate…’cause if you date me, you’re gonna need it!”

Meaning he knows all the psychology terms and can better manipulate women pulling from the DSM-V. He also has access to vulnerable women to take advantage of since he's an advocate. He's using his position of "advocate" in order to play the "nice guy".

BPD! A favorite label of women by abusive, gaslighting men. My ex literally went through the whole list of mental disorders and labeled me with everything under the sun. His whole MO was to chip away at my self worth systematically so I wouldn't wake up to what a LVM he really was.

He didn't stop there, he told everyone we knew, friends and family, that our relationship problems (which were known to many) were the result of my upbringing and the consequential mental defects that created in me. God forbid he ever looked in the mirror, he was 100% blameless in his own warped mind.

I've been very happy now for a year and a half with a man who thinks I'm amazing and would never reduce or label me. This infuriates my ex because it invalidates his claims about me. My boyfriend actually knows how to communicate and admit when he's wrong. The ex just pretended he was some kind of mental health expert and would research stuff online then come back to me and basically say "I figured out what's wrong with you, you have BPD!" (Or then it was I'm bi-polar, a narcissist, chronically depressed, etc.). It never occurred to him once that HE was the problem.

[–]File-OwnFDS Newbie 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have high-functioning anxiety (a lot of people don't believe b/c I am very confident IRL), and my narc emotionally abusive ex used to try to loudly talk about how girls with mental health problems were "no good" and "being the reason a girl needs therapy" (apparently it's an LVM quote) after I dumped him.

He had mental health problems too (borderline personality, also anxious as he grew up in an abusive household, etc.) and the ironic thing was, his were much more apparent and I was usually the one supporting him, not the other way around.

But his insecurities from his own MH problems led to him talking in a sick, disgusting way. He was a "finance bro" too so I knew a few of his colleagues were casually racist, etc.

Just wanna give a tip to whoever needs. Men will lie about career in a way that they can later backtrack on if confronted. Others will straight up just lie. When I see “dentisting” makes me think he is not a dentist but works as an assistant or hygienist. That way less embarrassing for him to say oh ya by dentisting I meant ... (and proceed to call u a GoLdDiGgEr for caring) Anytime they don’t STRAIGHT UP write their job title or give u lengthy excuses about their work “ya I have a background in tax assessment law but no don’t practice law right now” (even tho bio says lawyer)- THEY ARE LYING. I was only on OLD 2 weeks and I cannot tell you how many men lied about work😂

[–]FDS-GFYFDS Newbie 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even the use of the word “dentisting” is a turn off. The correct term for the field is dentistry. This sounds like he is a child.

When I see “dentisting” makes me think he is not a dentist but works as an assistant or hygienist.

Thank you, you read my mind. I believe if he were a dentist he would PROUDLY and LOUDLY say so.

[–]riseaboveagainFDS Apprentice 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My first thought, as well. Starts off his profile with a red flag. “Dentisting”? Suuure.

Profile pics in scrubs are always another automatic turnoff. Isn’t it always someone hoping to con you by posing as a doctor?

[–]CheetahEnergyFDS Newbie 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Dirty John, anyone? The man showed up to black tie galas in scrubs claiming he’s an anesthesiologist and the surgeries finished late... (no one leaves hospital in dirty scrubs literally first thing they teach u in a hospital) he was actually a nurse anesthetist solely to supply his opioid addiction.

ugh this reminds me of guys who are studying medicine and have the audacity to call themselves doctors, or better yet someone who was accepted into med school but never went at all. like sure, getting in is tough, but it’s not a badge of honour.

[–]cml678701FDS Newbie 25 points26 points27 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Or a law enforcement officer who says, “I practice law.” I also once went out with a guy who called himself an engineer, but in reality, he worked at a factory, and his title was something like, “bottle cap engineer.” He was dumb as rocks, and then was surprised / hostile when I didn’t go on a second date.

[–]s_slayerFDS STRATEGY COACH 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My favorite is the military guys. Some are dumb as bricks but have fancy, exotic sounding job titles, that is, the ones that still work for the military. A lot come out and just end up doing menial labor. Again, nothing dishonorable about any job, but they should lower their standards accordingly and not expect 8s and 9s to be cool with that.

Yeah the only way I'm going to be involved in sports on a man's behalf is if he's out there on the field sweating, building muscle, burning calories and getting hot. I'll hang on the sidelines occasionally to watch his tight ass run up and down field.

Why are so many dudes obsessed with finding a woman into sports? I get wanting to have mutual interests, but it’s just TV. It’s a passive past time, not a hobby. I mean, have you ever seen a woman put in her bio “must be into the real housewives franchise” as a requirement for their man? I don’t think so.

I don’t mind guys that are into sports, but I keep away from guys who specify they need a woman who watches sports with them like the plague. It just tells me they watch sports on TV 24/7, they never leave the house, and it’s the only thing they know how to talk about. I’ve been on dates with guys like that, and they’re boring AF. Don’t know how to hold a conversation unless he’s telling you about the stats of some athlete from 20 years ago.

[–]FDS-GFYFDS Newbie 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s also bullshit. My dearest friend is a huge sports nerd. It freaks men out when she knows more than they do.

[–]Noemie_MathildeFDS Newbie 38 points39 points40 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But why the "sports business" bit? Does he specialise in hockey players who've been smashed in the mouth? Or is he part of a team of dentists who pull teeth in a competitive fashion? "And that's a molar for 10 points! He goes in with the scalpel....no! This ones gonna need root canal...can he do it?"

[–]abirdoftheskyFDS Newbie 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As per rule 6 adding a strategy comment: I know that few men bother to write out a bio in online dating. I would advise you to write one to deter men as a first filter, and also to only match on men with bios.

Once I put in a bio, I got the same amount of matches but a LOT less men actually reaching out with a message, and those that did were not “how’s you’re weeked going?”-ing me to death, but rather got some sort of thoughtful response. Another reason is to remember men tell on themselves, like the guy I posted.

As for you posting something, describe yourself and what you want in non-compromising terms (not I’m looking for a soulmate, the real deal) but more like neutral hobbies. For example, I do book reviews on instagram and it’s an easy way for men to start a non-personal conversation that’s still interesting and let’s me see at least how they are.

Lastly, it will show you who is the scrote who couldn’t even bother to read 5 sentences on your bio. For example, my profile says NOT DIVORCED and the amount of divorced guys that still swipe (I can see who liked me without swiping back) is pathetic. If he relies asking something you already wrote in your bio, or clearly against it, don’t just un match but block him so he doesn’t show up again.

One guy matched me and his message was: “that’s quite a list!” And I just unmatched. What I’m saying is, if you’re already on the apps at LEAST use the one personality filter you get: a guy’s bio and your own bio. It’s only takes a few minutes and can save you tenfold the time it’s worth to write it.

"If you can hang and watch sports with me, that's a big deal"--so he doesn't have any buddies to watch with? Also suggests that even post-pandemic, this man's free time will still be divided between the couch and the toilet. Hard to think of anything less attractive.

Now factor in that his hands are in other people's mouths all day, and 🤢🤮 ugh, so much no.

"Mental health advocate" "Weird is a good thing"

Looks like he's specifically looking for a neurodiverse woman to abuse.

"Weird is a good thing" = "You'd BETTER be in to some extreme kinky shit if you think I'll be putting up with a non-neurotypical girlfriend experience.

While I expect you to accommodate and participate in my special interests in sport and kink, yours are embarrassing, annoying and you'll be giving them up anyway once I've worn you down to a shell of your former self.

You are to be quirky enough to amuse me and my friends but are to be a demure neurotypical-passing fuck toy/ servant at all other times. "

I don’t even believe this guy is a dentist, but if he is, he is the biggest, cheapest douche. My dad is a dentist, and is the most generous person I have ever met! I can’t think of anything less attractive than a guy who earns the same as my dad, but is cheap and stingy. I think it is even worse to be that way when you can afford to be generous without it even affecting you!
