It is, but love isn’t something you earn through hardships. It’s not supposed to make you miserable, or require you to go through trials and tribulations to get there. It’s great because it should be comfortable and happy, and it should be a good thing from the beginning. So I would say look for it, but don’t force yourself to participate in something that makes you miserable.

Love is worth it. I agree with cloudberrypunch. There's nothing more gratifying in the world than falling in love with someone whos also falling in love with you. It hurts really bad when it ends though. I'm lucky that my love began to dissipate at a certain instant that she crossed a boundary, so that when some months later she crossed another/the same type of boundary, i was not too crushed when it ended. But some who have an out of the blue breakup are staggered. So let that be a warning.

But i agree with the adage "it's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all"

P.s. the sex with someone you love is impossible to explain.

I've told people on here and i stand by it that a recent hookup i had was so good that it reframed my sexual relationship with my ex in my mind (negatively) - but knowing that, it makes it all the more interesting how while i was in love i was more than happy with the quality of the sex. And its only in hindsight that i realise it was unsatisfying. Thats the power of sex with someone you love.

Love was the happiest and most anxious / neurotic I've ever been. If i never fall in love again i can't say I'll be unhappy, but i also would be disappointed that i wouldn't feel that feeling again.

Yes, it is worth it. I treasure my friendships that remain from my failed past relationships. I am blessed with some wonderful memories, some new knowledge, some amazing experiences, and the greatest gift of all, my kid. My current and most likely final relationship came at a time when I figured I was never going to find someone to grow old with, had given up on it. Every day is hilarious and interesting and even mundane trips to the grocery store can be mini adventures. Of course it’s important to be realistic and know if it’s time to let it go if the relationship is beyond repair, but if both parties are mature and enough time has passed you can stay in touch. Or not, that’s for you to decide to keep the person in your life or not. But keep some of the memories. As an old lady, I promise you will look back on them fondly some day.

Yes, love is definitely worth it. Doesn't even have to be romantic or intimate love though, which is what most answers seem to be focusing on.

Love for your friends can be just as powerful in its own way. Even if you don't have a partner of some kind, and aren't close to your family, love from and towards friends can also be highly cherished. We're a social species and the majority of us need some kind of love to remain healthy.

It is. It makes my life so much better that I'm willing to risk having the hardships. My husband is the person who I know for sure loves and cares for me, I can trust him and be vulnerable with him. And all of it is fully reciprocated. He's one of the best people I've ever met and he's the only person I don't get tired of. We provide support for each other, we work together on our common plans and help with personal ones as well. So yeah, it's worth it.

I think in attempts not to be miserable one can become exceptionally miserable eventually. Even having friends is rather risky, but I doubt that most people can be happy without them. Going out of your house is risky too, driving, traveling etc. We still do it, because otherwise we'd lead pretty miserable lives.

Yes, a million times yes. Love is one of the most magical incredible feeling one can have. Waking up every day next to a team mate is so comforting. Seeing your lover bring in groceries for the 1000th time and having your heart skip a beat because of how beautiful they look in the doorway. That feeling of selflessness when you see them sleeping and all you can think about is what you can do to make thier morning easier. The absolute bliss you feel when you can get them to smile. Yes and no. The reality of the situation is that love is not like how it is in the media. It takes a LOT of work. A LOT. It takes a lot of sacrifice and concessions. Over a long period even the smallest of these can breed resentment. It isn't easy. And, if I'm being truly honest, I dont think most contemporary people are fit for it. We have become too selfish and too entitled. I honestly and truly think most western people are not fit for it. The con is that it takes a tremendous amount of work for love. The pros are that it provides a partner. Here's what I can tell you, and I've seen a lot of people (mostly women) state that after their current marriage ends they wouldn't reenter the dating field because pleasing another person in an actual partnership is extremely difficult. I feel the same way. I love my lady. I would give my life for her. But if our relationship ends, I dont think I will pursue women any more. I wouldn't go MGTOW or anything, but I'd be done with long term relationships for a decade or two. Love is worth it, but only if you can make it work. And very few people can truly make it work. Just my two cents.

Once your in it it’s ecstatic.

Once it’s gone you have to be happy that for atleast a moment. You were truly happy.

I haven’t ever fully went into that ocean but dipped my waters by having some level of Romance. I didn’t let myself go all the way through but the small amount I did feel and allow myself? Those small memories I really do cherish.

There was a girl who we both liked another but it couldn’t work out. And we both knew it. But we’d be able to sit in coffee shops and talk for hours and time would just never matter. We played 20 questions one time and honestly I enjoyed that experience.

Sex lust and all that? Not even a fraction of the happiness I got from just sitting there asking questions and being asked questions in a small coffee shop with the rain in the background.

I hope I can find someone that I can fully fall for one day but it’s nothing to shrug off.

Drop the bullshit standards everyone. No it’s not about looks prestige or whatever. Who actually makes you smile. Take a risk. Of course make sure to keep and mitigate that risk. But let yourself fall a little bit atleast once.

Love is worthy. Fake stuff isn't. It's worthy if it lasts. It's worthy if you always tell the truth to one another, and see the truth. It's worthy if it's based on something other than a decaying body, however hot that body may be. You won't always be able to appreciate that body. It'll fade from your memory, and you'll see other bodies to look at. On the other hand, if something is really meaningful, you'll never forget it and you'll pass it onto many other humans for good reason. That's the essential stuff to life. Ask me how I know. My relationship involves plenty of drama. It’s annoying and just uneccesary at times. With that said, I have no fear that she’s ever cheat on me, she’s easy to please (doesn’t ‘need’ expensive gifts or restaurants — she’s actually thrifty and good at saving money), we’re both pro in the same sport and travel around the world and compete at the same events, we both choose a night at home with healthy foods over junkfood — although we do eat crap at times — or partying. She compliments my lifestyle, provides financial stability to my life and supports most of the things I do (just not penis enlargement at this point) but when I am between jobs she does become more easily annoyed wlth me. Overall, I choose stability, love, less exciting sex but being freed up to pursue my goals than constantly chasing women to satisfy my rediculous libido and that for female companionship.

Love is absolutely worth it, but people often mistakes if for other “obsessive” emotions like infatuation, competition, passion and jealousy.

I say “obsessive” because these feelings often cause neurotic fixated thinking, to the point of impacting your productivity. I know that on days I’ve been having a good time with my partner, I often forget to pay attention at work, I’m so distracted thinking about how crazy I am about them. We’ve known each other for over 20 years and we still run into each other’s arms to greet when we’ve been away for too long.

Love is just another feeling. Is it worth it? Sure, all feelings are worth it, for a time. Is it some deep intimate force throughout the universe that houses special meaning aside from any other emotions? Nope.
