South Korea is the only developed country that prohibits porn. Let's just say, this is impossible to enforce and doesn't really fix the issue. Since production of porn is illegal in Korea, they will just consume JAV instead, and Korean AV actors go to Japan to do their work. So in essence, the Japanese government takes a cut from taxes earned from Korean models, making Korean porn, for Korean consumers.

A better way to fix the harmful effects of porn is teaching youths about the impact that porn can have on a man's motivation for self development. Perhaps the only thing that ever gave me ANY hesitation to over consume porn was a high school teacher that warned that excessive porn/masturbation can cause erectile dysfunction when you get married and see your beautiful wife unclothed for the first time. That magical moment is lost due to porn.

Nowadays, there are a lot of self iprovement gurus that preach seed retention and cutting off porn from your life to channel that masculine energy into doing productive things and self improvement. It's more important for people who have been there, to teach youths about avoiding the mistakes that others have. What rarely works is government, schools, parents, institutions, etc unilaterally clamping down on what is perceived as a moral issue, "just because it's bad"

I’ve never heard of and the rage against it always seems disproportionate to the problem. The war on porn from the church.. the church’s attempt to link homosexuality to child molestation.. the fight against sex ed in school.. parents shaming their teens for sexual exploration.. it all feels like it comes from the same place . I’ve never encountered anyone that seems like a down to earth person foam at the mouth about porn the way some people online seem to. Seems like it stems more from insecurity or a desire to control. And not even just your partners but.. other random ass people? It’s bad to shame hookups but shaming porn is straight? So weird

I joined a subreddit once about it and while I realized the people there were fanatics (about hating porn) which made me leave, they raised a lot of valid points. Personally I haven't watched porn in a while, I just read vanilla doujins nowadays, but I never really noticed some of the stuff that there is in porn until it was pointed out.

Well for starters, yes, the industry needs a lot of regulation given how shady it all is. So let's asume it's all regulated for a second. Apparently the fictional scenerios usually depict women in a rather shitty way, normalizing slapping them, choking them, calling them whores, etc. Like you could call it kinky but I guess in a way it really doesn't feel like they are both in to pleasure themselves but rather the woman is a toy for the man to exploit, which is honestly a scenerio that makes sense since it's mostly watched by men.

At least that's what I got from what I read. Then again, they also blamed porn for the fetishes one has, and how it's driven to a darker place? Which I don't really agree with I guess, specially since they condemned BDSM so much, like if you are into being tied up, maybe you learnt that from porn, but you don't like it because you watched it, you can still hate it or say it's not for you. But yeah apparently if a woman wants to be chocked is because she was influenced in a bad way by porn, and it's just abuse and she is a victim that doesn't realize it, which again might be a psychological thing but come on, if we are all consensual about it, it shouldn't matter what kinks people have.

Then something about not being into normal sex anymore because of the wild stuff that turns you on, which I feel like depends, each person is different, some might like the same old shit. Then there's the Coolidge effect that basically makes sex with a different partner new again and exciting, so I guess it makes sense that if you stay with the same partner you want to experiment new stuff to keep it fresh. But no, these people claim you had to do the same boring shit otherwise it was deviant or something.

Then I guess there is the fictional scenerios in porn like incest or young teens that are not real but stimulate people with taboo stuff, which I guess even if it isn't real, it might still have some consequences on a person's moral compass and their psychology? I don't really know too much about this sadly.

But in conclusion porn as it is now should be heavily regulated to ensure the safety of the performers but aside from that, I don't think there's too much harm in it. You can argue that it's bad for you but so is many things if you abuse them, or that it's a bad influence for your sexual habits but I think anyone with common sense would know better than copying what they see in porn when they have their first encounter. Like everyone prefers amateur porn specially because they know how fake porn is

I am extremely pro porn. To me, porn primarily exists to give men sexual agency, by allowing them to have a somewhat fulfilling sex life without a partner. This is vital for giving them the means to leave bad relationships, in a similar way that women having economic independence frees them from being tied to partners who are abusive. Being able to live a fulfilling life while being single is essential for healthy relationships to thrive.

As such, an obvious corollary is that the availability of porn makes men more selective when it comes to partners, which is, in my mind, the main source of the anti-porn movement. Women who are unable to attain a partner they find desirable see porn as an easy bogeyman and yearn for the pre-porn days where they had full control over straight male sexuality, in a similar way that some undesirable men are heavily against women's rights because it makes it harder for them to find a partner.

Now of course, porn can occasionally have some drawbacks. Obviously, pornography involving unwilling participants is completely unacceptable and is rightly criminalized, but this is also an extreme minority that the vast majority of men would never encounter, the porn industry is generally extremely well-regulated and the vast majority of porn involves well-established adult film stars who have long careers in the industry. There is also the fact that pornography does not usually resemble real human sexual behaviour very accurately, which can lead to men having unrealistic expectations or performance problems when it comes to real sex. However, I would consider this issue to be significantly overblown. Men who cannot properly differentiate fiction from reality when it comes to sex will be considered undesirable partners and are thus appropriately encouraged to consume porn responsibly, and many resources exist for assisting men who struggle in this way. It is also simply the case that porn use among men is nearly universal, leading to the easy conclusion that it does not severely impact relationships because relationships are still common.

It's not fair that people out there are getting exploited for any number of people's sexual pleasure. In my country prostitution is illegal, but as soon as you prop up a camera, then it's suddenly legal. What's the difference?

As long as it's drawn and it doesn't depict children, animals, incest or non consensual things, I'm fine with it. Anything else should be banned, in my opinion, and here's why:

-female actresses oftenly end up in hospitals due to injuries caused by the filming of the videos. Human bodies are pretty damn fragile, and female bodies even so.

-male actors get pumped with various drugs to last longer, have a better performance, etc, causing them to literally become sexually dysfunctional (erectile disfunction + other issues) as early AS THEIR 30s'!!! 30 YEAR OLD MEN! INFERTILE!!

-the actors are oftenly not paid enough -actors are often coerced into being filmed/filming content they'd rather not

-causes human trafficking

-causes abnormal sexual habits

-makes watchers impotent

-comes to the detriment of watchers and their partners' sex lives

-causes loads of body issues for both men and women.

-has been scientifically proven to damage your brain, specifically the effort-reward dopamine system

-I personally thinks it hurts pair-bonding just as much as promiscuous past can do.

It’s only unethical when it is. Otherwise, actors sign paperwork which is about as concrete consent as can be. On the other hand in romance novels, it is pretty common to have scenes where consent is less explicit than a signed document.

Not saying there’s anything wrong with romance novels either, but written porn is often implied to be more ethical. You can’t approach one with blanket dismissal and then defend similar themes in another.

I dont know if this is a chicken or egg scenario, because I didnt believe it until I heard multiple women I know talking about dudes theyve dated, but sometimes porn absolutely does break a dudes dick.

I have no idea how it happens, as a man who watches his fair share of porn, as Im just as sensitive as ever , but the dudes who are addicted have the following symptoms

I don't think there is anything wrong with people thinking porn is negatively impacting the dating pool or not wanting to date people who consume it.

I personally think porn use is pretty normal but i also belive there is no reason your partner should ever know about what you consume unless you are both into that together. So feel free to consume what you want but depending on how you do it i will decide if we are compatible.

But excessive masturbation is a vice, and watching porn does not produce excellent character.

I disagree that societies or ideologies that shame porn cannot be rational, sex positive, pro freedom, and/or pro happiness.

The contemporary progressive culture of the West is, historically speaking, very new and an aberration. Almost every society to have ever existed recognized the dangers of sexual imagery and shamed its production and consumption — this was completely normal and healthy until very recently in human existence.

Similarly, it is very rational to be anti-porn given its personal and social effects on its producers, consumers, and society as a whole. Look at the porn epidemic we have now: it is not by and large contributing more to personal and social happiness and health than misery.

Additionally, a culture of shame does not limit personal autonomy; it only introduces pressures in on the human will but does not constitute any external force. Having a culture of shame in which porn production and consumption is not outlawed but discouraged is completely compatible with maximizing human rights and (political) freedom.

And if we concede that physical, psychological, and spiritual fulfillment are part and parcel of a flourishing (e.g. happy life), it is also rational and utilitous to be anti-porn as a society, if we want people to be happy and healthy.

While I do agree that porn shouldn't be banned, you're using an overly-broad definition of porn to make it look less harmful than it really is.

There's no doubt that regular porn consumption is psychologically damaging and hurts people's ability to have stable happy, IRL relationships.

That said, it's a matter of degrees ( a little bit no harm, at lot, more harm ) and it's people's personal choice. It's like smoking or gambling, in my opinion.
