Fairly new to this Redpill stuff. 30F, recently cut things off with a guy I was seeing. Found out later that he was into Redpill.

I’m pretty used to unhealthy emotional behaviors, so early on with dating him I did notice some red flags that seemed more like narcissism. Grandiosity, talking much more than listening, not asking many questions, a hyperfocus on material things rather than social/relational stuff, that kind of thing.

Well, after the fact I found out he had been doing a LOT of lying.

  • Shaved 5 years off his age
  • Lied about giving me a fake number (it wasn’t his real number, Google voice or something)
  • Lied about random personal details of his life -misrepresented his views. For example, once I paid for my own food/split the check when he was up from the table when the check came. He later said, “I didn’t really like that.. guys want to be the ones to pay.” Meanwhile was on Twitter complaining about how awful dating is, how men feel obligated to pay, how women are so boring to talk to, etc.
  • Told me I was gorgeous while liking tweets about how no 30s woman can hold a candle to a 21 year old
  • Asked if I wanted to watch the Barbie movie while apparently tweeing about how misogynistic it is (I’ve seen it and it’s not that serious.. if anything just saying to walk a mile in the other person’s shoes which is great advice)

Etc. At some points he would not text me at all, basically only talking if I reached out, while liking tweets about how women want a guy who ignores them and makes them mad.

That’s case in point manipulation.

My questions for the community are:

1) Do you think Redpill encourages men to attempt to control women’s behavior by not being straightforward with them?

2) Do you consider this type of behavior manipulation, and if not why not?

3) Do you believe manipulation is wrong?

I’m not a feminist or anything. Honestly pretty traditional and conservative in a lot of ways. I just don’t really involve myself in this sort of gender war stuff because I feel it’s unhealthy. I do have the impression, at least from this run in with a Redpiller and his Twitter sphere, that there’s an emphasis on men having the upper hand and not being honest with women, to control the outcome of the situation. Whatever you call that, and regardless of who does it to who, I believe that’s a pretty morally messed up way to treat another person.
