Idk. Shapiro would probably be the best possible candidate. Any Republican would gladly stab Trump in the back to get him on the ticket, and most moderates find him very agreeable.

For one, he's Jewish. Not just racially Jewish, but full on orthodox. The alt-right will hate him far too much to associate themselves with the Republican party, but those brainless bigots would still likely vote Republican because, well who else are they going to vote for. With them out of the picture, the rust belt would very likely go red again without hesitation, and even more states might switch sides.

The only thing that could prevent that would be the Dems shifting gears and actually running on a platform that appeals to the working class, and as of now that seems very, very unlikely. They have their heads too far up their asses with globalization and political correctness and identity politics. They might as well ride not even bother stopping the bus in any blue collar town and just flip the bird as they pass through with their current platform. It's going to be at least one more election cycle before they remember that the idiot college kids they appeal to hardly even bother voting anyways, and typically their views change within a few years of entering the workforce anyways.

Because he got really whiny and bitchy, getting into semantics about how the conversation started. He claimed he didn't want to talk about it anymore, but always had to try and get the last word in by making unfounded claims. When Joe Rogan would call him out on those bad unfounded points, he cried like a baby about it, and then the argument devolved into an argument about the argument.

Joe Rogan didn't help it by any means, but he wasn't the one making unfounded claims. And Steven eventually made a point that "But you have some fact checker I don't! Waaaa!!" which is ridiculous because you shouldn't hold strongly held beliefs if you don't know what you are talking about without help.

It's different to not not know what something is and look it up only when you need it, it's another to hold a belief to the core of your being and not have anything to back it up.

After seeing Steven act the way he did I lost all respect for the man. All he needed to do what accept the fact he was wrong, and say "You know, you're right dude, that's probably why I shouldn't talk about it I get heated up and don't know what I'm doing lol." Boom next topic. But he didn't, and only pretended to do that later at the end, adding caveats to it to retain some personal moral victory or something.

Thomas Sowell is another. Old school.

Milo has merit, but his flamboyancy gets in the way of himself, so people instantly dismiss him on that alone. However, if you watch him debates (not his lectures), especially in his own country, he holds himself very well. He does not lash out or name call, he lets the opposition speak, and then forms his rebuttal.

Dave Rubin is also another "famous" one, in that he went from working with the Young Turks to swaying almost completely over to the other side of the political spectrum. In all honesty, I don't think Rubin changed so much as his affiliated party did. He's a "classical liberal", as it were. Fiscally conservative, socially liberal.

Another one to watch that's currently on the rise is Colin Moriarty. He's a video game journalist that's currently in transition to be a political commentator. He was one of the few (if only) conservative voices within a community that's awash with leftist leaning ideals.

However, with all the above being said, Shapiro is the gold standard.

I just put the parenthesis of their identity to show that Conservatism in America is nowhere near as homogenous as it is thought to be.

I tend to shy away from the people like Steven Crowder, Tomi Lahren, etc. They tend to stir the pot too much and they slide into subjectivity easily.

Well, if there's a conspiracy among millions of scientists all over the world to falsify their whole careers for money, then they're both really good at being a secret shadow society and really stupid for doing it for so little money. And statistically speaking it's far less likely than millions of scientists doing their work as intended.

Then add simple concepts and simple if-then statements like "if we put mining waste into a river, then the river will be polluted" or "if we put carbon dioxide into the ocean, it will get more acidic" or "if we trap more heat in the atmosphere, the atmosphere will be hotter".

Then consider that the world is literally covered with people and it's not much of a stretch to assume that we have the capacity to affect our environment. Also not much of a stretch to think that if we pollute the atmosphere with greenhouse gases, that it will heat up, assuming that's how greenhouse gases work. So the question is: is that how they work? You can answer that question in your kitchen, and verify it with your own eyes.

I think it's more of a stretch to believe that humans are not affecting the environment.

Except he doesn't because he doesn't know the difference between the very basic scientific term of differentiating between a male and female (sex), versus a psychological/sociological term that differentiates females and males in a relative society (gender).

That's why they call them gender roles, because it is a "role" of one sex in that given society. These roles are not replicated throughout each society. Which means they are interchangeable roles and not something you are born with. If you aren't born with this inherit role, or set of characteristics then his whole argument falls apart.

Example: Males wear pants when women should wear skirts/dresses = Gender role since;

Irish men wear kilts, which are skirts in the U.S. and men in middle eastern countries wear a thawb, which looks like a dress in the U.S.

another example, Some tribes in the amazon actually have women who hunt, which was seen as a role of a male in other tribes in history.

Gender is not the same as sex. One is psychological, and one is physiological(biological).

See, the people who are against anthropogenic climate change have never really addressed the primary drivers, and instead attack fringe issues or push non-fixes that give them more control over people's daily lives.

You want to stop burning fossil fuels and reduce the environmental impact of humans?

Push for lab-grown meat over raising animals.

Remove restrictions on nuclear power while we work out the innate problems in wind, solar, and geothermal power.

Most importantly (and most controversially), you've got to raise interest rates about 20 basis points. Cheap credit encourages consuming now instead of in the future. Saving is worthless, and goods are cheap now. We're building more houses, bigger houses (more expensive to heat, cool, etc). People are buying new cars all the time (minimal improvements in fuel efficiency don't offset manufacturing costs).

If you want to fix wasteful consumption, regardless of whether you believe that humans have an effect on climate change, you need to slow the global economy down a lot.

Nobody wants their name attached to that.

I'm pretty sure we watched the same exact clip and he really doesn't. He's just using peer pressure as a means to argue. He doesn't make any intelligent comment, but because other people laugh at what he says the girl chokes up and can't speak naturally. Even when she can speak up others people's laughing and noises muffle her out. It's really just that.

Honestly, his argument against transgenders is that if a person identifies as the other gender then they must also identify as a 60 year old. Really, how stupid is that. Besides, there are plenty of studies that confirm that transgendered people have brains that more closely resemble the opposite sex, this isn't even up to debate. The only thing that matters when it comes to transgenderism is whether or not someone is scientific literate or illiterate.

The number of neurons in the BSTc of male-to-female transsexuals was similar to that of the females (P = 0.83). In contrast, the neuron number of a female-to-male transsexual was found to be in the male range. Hormone treatment or sex hormone level variations in adulthood did not seem to have influenced BSTc neuron numbers. The present findings of somatostatin neuronal sex differences in the BSTc and its sex reversal in the transsexual brain clearly support the paradigm that in transsexuals sexual differentiation of the brain and genitals may go into opposite directions and point to a neurobiological basis of gender identity disorder.

I mean, he's basically making the "slippery slope" argument, which is a fallacy. It's quite easy to break fetal development into enough small parts where you have a hard time saying it's ok to terminate. But if you simply say, "is it ok to terminate a fertilized egg cell?" it's pretty easy to say yes. I mean, I just jazzed into a towel, which is hardly different. He begs his own question with this argument type.

No, being able to die grants you person-hood aka life. Since you can't die without first living. Our society holds the standard that somebody is legally dead when their EEG is no longer demonstrates regular wave patterns. Between week 20 and 25 the thalamus fully develops and a baby thus has regular brain wave patterns. Its the reason why third trimester abortions are illegal. Before then it is a ball of organic tissue. If you want to deny this is the case, then we will have to have some serious talks about practices like beating heart corpses, and reversing some murder charges to attempted murder charges.

No, it can't. It can make you into a reasonably close copy of the opposite sex, but it cannot make you male or female. Transgender women cannot get pregnant. Transgender men cannot inseminate women. Our sexes have very specific functions that cannot be faked, spoofed, or replicated. We can pump people full with hormones and alter them surgically until they look the part, but these people will never truly be male or female.

Please note that I place no particular value on the ability to spread or receive seed. I don't even have a problem treating people as the gender they perceive themselves to be. I don't care if you want to be called a man or a woman, it's no skin off my back either way. I'm just saying that what actually makes us male or female can't be faked.

Surgically altering a human body so that their genitals mimic the appearance and mechanical use of their opposing sex's genitals, or deliberately regulating the hormones in their body does not make them that sex.

This is largely the speaker's point on the topic.

You wouldn't call a Lion a Leopard just because you dyed spots into its fur.

Of course there are ways to make a woman able to fuck like a man, and vice versa, but how we fuck does not determine our biological sex - it is a byproduct of it.

Except that no one is claiming that trans people can be given functional reproductive systems of the opposite sex or change their DNA, but that something exists called gender identity that is separate from those things and more integral to a persons sense of self. A disparity between these two creates a particular sort of depression called gender dysphoria that decades of study has shown is most effectively treated by the patient transitioning to live their life as and recieving medical intervention to make their body as close to the sex that normally matches their gender identity as possible. Science has found a physiological basis to gender identity in the structure of the brain that is unrelated to the physiology of the genitals or DNA. Shapiro is either ignorant of the science of outright lying when he openly states that gender and sex are the same thing.

I think you're missing the point. There exists an aspect of person that is the self, and that aspect has a gender that is determined by brain physiology rather than genital physiology. Most people would agree that the aspect of a human being you communicate with is the self rather than the genitals, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to insist that your perception of a person should be defined by their genitals (unless you're planning to sleep with them) when the self is the part you're actually interacting with and which has a gender independent from their genitals.

Making a comparison to someone thinking that they're a bird is a false equivalence because their is no condition wherein a person has a birdself in a human body caused by having a bird's brain structure in place of a normal human one, nor is their an accompanying body of research showing that people with such a condition have their mental health needs best served by allowing them to transition in their public and private lives to live as a bird. If those things existed, you would have a case but they don't, so your argument is bullshit. Also, I have no idea what

Why does everyone get so worked up about this sort of thing?

The estimate I found is that there are 1.4M people who are transgendered in the United States. We are a population of 320M. Less than 1/2 of a percent is what we're talking about. The likelihood of anyone encountering a transgendered person in a bathroom or anywhere is practically nil. Think about it. Someone who is transgendered wants to use a bathroom at Target. You have to have a Target in your area, and you have to be at a Target when you have to take a leak. Now we're talking about a very small number of people. The religious right wants us to think that these human beings will molest your daughter. So, back to our stupidly small number and we have to find a percentage that is interested and willing to molest a child. Well, there are 400,000 registered sex offenders. Let's triple that to include a number that aren't registered. We're at 1.2 million which represents something like .003 of the population. .004 * .003 = 0.000012 of the population, which is about 3840 people in the US that are transgendered child molesters. People are insane when they get all up in arms over stuff that has NO impact in their lives. And, by the way, I mean, if they encountered a transgendered person, there would still be NO impact to their lives.

Treat people like humans. And worry about more important things.

EDIT: 9% of child molesters are women. 9% of 400,000 is 36,000. That number is almost 10 times greater than the number above for transgendered child molesters. So, your daughter is nearly 10 times more likely to run into danger with a woman than with a transgendered person.

The confusion arises because A. You're not clear at all and B. There is still confusion about what a TG boy and TG girl is referring to depending on who is saying it. TG boy may by many refer to a Boy to Girl who is transgendered or it may refer to the opposite. While there is a "standard" understood by many it is hardly all inclusive and understood by all.

Ben Shapiro has a law degree, not a biology degree, and it shows here. According to the latest DSM, being trans is not a mental illness. Trans people are more prone to having mental illnesses, which makes sense if your whole life you feel like you're the other gender. Shapiro and his ilk will often point out that "gender dysphoria" is a mental disorder, that doesn't mean being trans is a mental disorder. Trans people often, but not necessarily suffer from gender dysphoria. Being trans and suffering dysphoria are not one in the same. Shapiro and his ilk are either ignorant of that or deny it. Either way, his entire argument is an affront to biology and neuroscience through means of oversimplification and lack of respect for the complexity of the subject. Ironically, when he says "facts dont care about your feelings" it is actually true that his feelings do not care about facts.

and that society should help find a cure instead of promoting genital mutilation.

Which sounds eerily similar to the folks trying to cure the gays with electroshock and pray the gay away.

Theres a bit more to it than that. There is also Gender Euphoria which is the opposite (feeling happy when seeing oneself as the desired sex) and other stuff. Different people experience and express it in different ways.

People only really hear the "i knew i was trans since i was little" or "i always felt i looked wrong" story but that is just one possibility. Its like if people assumed every lesbian only had buzzcuts and wore tank tops.

There is a lot of "lol 99 genders" stuff on reddit but really its because its such a unique experience people cant help but to read other stories about it and still feel excluded. Saying it is a mental disorder is just dismissive of a viewpoint youve never experienced and can't be bothered to. Its also not universally agreed by all health professionals. The NHS in rhe UK does nor consider it to be a mental disability.

Who are you to say what "traditions" need to be preserved? You do know that people used the same argument you're using to protect the institution of slavery as well as segregation.

Time and time again history proves that those that resist change and cling to tradition and the argument of "This is the way it's always been!" are seen as bigots and looked upon with disdain. And some of these changes are being made simply for the sake of change, not because there's anything wrong with them. You ever heard of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? This mentality of "we have to include everyone in everything" is dumb if you ask me, that is not progress, that is simply trying to avoid people getting their feelings hurt, instead of letting people learn for themselves where they belong and where they don't. Also, your claims of our founding values being shit are entirely subjective, as are mine, so we won't get very far arguing there. In my eyes, our founding values come from people who were visionaries, entrepreneurs, innovators, go-getters, free-thinkers and people who wanted a better life for them and their families, free of royal oppression and religious persecution. I'm not saying a society shouldn't change according to the times, but we should be respectful (while at the same time critical) of our heritage and history, because that's what has gotten us so far as a nation.

Our heritage and our history is what has held us back as a nation. Have you taken a US history class that actually emphasizes all of the relevant events of this nation's history? From the very begining we had enslaved Africans and poor European indentured servants building the country and allowing those who exploited them to gain wealth. And once we had enough wealth and after we had forced all the poor white men to sacrifice their lives to defeat the British, we started a Westward march in which we directly caused the deaths of thousands of Native Americans, blatantly robbing them of everything they had. Then we pointed all our guns at the Mexicans and slaughtered their people and raped their women until their land was ours. They didn't do anything to us and we attacked them.

I can't believe you also mentioned freedom of religion. The United States has never been a refuge for people to practice any religion freely. Only Christianity was allowed in the early United states. Nothing else. And it better be the right kind of Christianity otherwise you would be ostrasized and harassed. You remember the Puritans who came to the United States to escape religious oppression? That's a myth. They came to the United States because they were disgusted by the religious tolerance that Britain was starting to adopt and they wanted to raise their children in a land where only Christians resided. Freedom of Religion my ass.

The founders of our nation were worthless excuses for human beings. The more different we are from Early American society, the better.

First off, there is no story of colonization that doesn't involve the slaughter and rape of thousands of natives, this is not exclusive to America. I'm not saying it was right, but it happened, and were here because of that. No changing those events, moving on. Second, the freedom of religion thing is debatable, since the people who came to America did have the freedom to choose, but that doesn't mean that the rest of the colonizers had to agree with them, since yes, most were christians. You have the right to choose, and I have the right to hate you for it. That's how that worked for the most part. And third, yes, I have taken US history before, and what the colonizers did was pretty par for the course for the time. Again, it wasn't "right" by todays standards, but it was back then, because society determines what they consider to be "right". Like I said, we both have different outlooks on the events, I decide to focus on the positive things that come from our history and embrace those cultural aspects that shaped our country into what it is today. And it is perfectly fine if you choose to stick with the negatives since that is also important to avoid repeating some of those mistakes, but I feel like you discrediting our roots and core values as a society is a dangerous mindset since it can make you lose your sense of identity as an American, and when enough people think that way then our society collapses as a whole.

I have no problem with little kids going camping togeather but sometimes boys need thier own space just like girls need their own. But what you are talking about already happens the boy scouts and girl scouts have combined activities all the time.

Just think about it this way, when all of these kids are 12-13 those girls are going to need a safe place to talk about their bodies changing and their periods and bras and boys... it makes gives them a chance to really truly understand what is normal and to understand things maybe they haven't learned at home along with making a set of relatable female friends that they are more likely to stay friends with well into early adulthood and longer without the pressure of things worrying (too much) about losing that friend over hormone and youth induced relationships.

It's the same story for boys. It's not the activities that would be what are disrupted it's the need to bond with other kids of the same gender and to better prepare them for the relationships they will have with other boys and eventually girls.
