How did that last girl react?
[–]ZachMoore88 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link
With unrelenting claims that cold approach of any kind is a form of harassment.
[–]cobraCL 4 years ago [recovered] (15 children) | Copy Link
Of any kind? That is harsh indeed. If it's any consolation, many women love engagement that is light and respectful, especially extroverts. For someone to claim that any day game interaction is harassment, they may be better off moving to a sex segregated society. How are people supposed to meet eachother?
[–]ZachMoore88 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link
Her reasoning was that a woman who hasn't made eye contact or smiled should just be left alone. She said guys should meet women through work and hobbies instead.
[–]cobraCL 4 years ago [recovered] (13 children) | Copy Link
I'm not sure I agree with her. There's nothing inherently wrong with a guy shooting his shot even if the girl didn't initiate eye contact first - flirting only becomes a social faux pas when there is persistence in the face of clear discomfort or requests to stop.
There is nothing stopping her from saying "no thank you" and moving on. Another woman might be charmed and very flattered.
[–]ZachMoore88 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I tried to get that point across but she insisted.

Alright, I just read that whole thread. First off! Holy shit well done on your respectful and level-headed replies in the face of someone who essentially insinuates you are a sexual predator of sorts for frequenting this sub. I actually got SALTY reading that. The argument makes no sense. "Approaching" is the reason why anything happens in the dating world, and it really doesn't matter if it happens in a hobby group or at the grocery store. A woman at a bar may be disinterested, but a woman who you run into at a bookstore may give you warmth and interest. I don't know in what universe healthy interactions between men and women became "harassment" - are we supposed to bring back arranged marriage to remove the 'threat' of a man chatting a woman up at the produce isle? Aiiiii
[–]ZachMoore884 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Yea. What a lot of women don't seem to grasp is that the whole "let it happen naturally" strategy just.....doesn't work for most men. So we cold approach to give ourselves a chance.
[–]cobraCL2 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Agree.
[–]Nell_De_Blass -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Weirdo.
What? Are you following me now?
[–]cobraCL1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Lol, and I love that she publicly announced that you sent her a DM to make you look... Well idk what her intention was 😂 probably like you were "harassing" her 😉
[–]ZachMoore881 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
And then she followed me to this post......or randomly found it and couldn't resist leaving a comment. I'm curious about why you're perspective is so different from hers considering you're both women who have presumably had your share of approaches from men you weren't interested in.
Might be for 2 reasons.
1) Personality: the other commentor and myself may be a bit different on spectrums of "agreeableness", which is okay since both sides have pros and cons. My default assumption is that people are generally benevolent and mean well, others may be naturally guarded and a bit suspicious.
2) Culture: I snooped (now I'm being a creep 😉) and saw she's from Australia, and I'm from South Africa. I'm just making assumptions but maybe feminism is more... "3rd wave" in Aus.
South Africa has a lot extremely serious social issues. Having one of the highest rape rates in the world, we generally do NOT trivialize assault and rape by labeling every benign expression of male sexuality "harassment" or "predation".
Advances I found creepy were some rather serious social transgressions, like being followed home or being touched inappropriately.
The rest, I can extend empathy to the guys who simply took a chance and risked the painful possibility of rejection. Human nature dictates that women are the gatekeepers of sex (high biological investment) and we generally don't make the first move, our labour starts when we move and sustain the relationship in the direction of commitment. Most men will stay perpetually single if they wait for women to become the hunters.
I will note that some off-colour and dark techniques run rampant in PUA communities, but trying to develop social skills and success with women is not inherently predatory.

I usually chat a girl up in produce. Dumb but funny questions. Grab two bad looking onions or something and ask "do these look ok to you?"
Maybe act like you have no idea what you're doing.
Or ask if they've seen X item. I can never find that. This place is a maze!

I tried cold approaching back when I was working at a grocery store without my uniform on not even to get their number but just see how they responded and my conclusion is that the girl has to be well into you from the first glance for it to work - a lot of people find grocery shopping stressful and try to get in and out as quickly as possible so I think you’d have a way better chance at retail stores
[–]ChoppedBelAir 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
See you're thinking about JUST cold approaching. I'm using normal venue contextual conversation and then when it seems positive, applying a bit of charm to turn it into a flirty chat.
You can chat more easily and without your agenda being obvious by engaging in normal conversation first. And if they don't really open up with that you can always walk away as it was just a convo about produce
[–]FaithInStrangers94 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah I should probably practice making conversation with strangers more. When I was in the US i was taken aback how casually people would acknowledge me when I was out. Back home you almost never see strangers acknowledging each other, they look right thorough you

Keep it situational and indirect, don't go in the grocery store with the intention of approaching women but if you happen to see someone you could vibe with, approach in a smooth manner
[–]mcergun 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Approach in a smooth manner and say cool things. Gotcha
[–]cooqies1 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
does it change with the attractiveness of the woman? probably a lame beginner question but i’m new
[–]palguy22 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No because it's a grocery store not a night club, approach the attractive girl the same way you'd talk to the 50 year old cashier at the checkout
[–]surfershane25 153 points154 points155 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
I’m not saying don’t ever approach at a grocery store, but it’s not likely going to be a high success area compared to a bar or social activity. But if you must… Wait til she’s in the fruit section and say nice melons really loud while holding some honey dews.

Go up to her and say "excuse me, you are ridiculously cute".
I go direct almost 100% of the time regardless of scenario. Makes almost no difference from what I've seen (I used to go indirect/situational, my results are the exact same now that I go direct).
Or do whatever indirect/situational opener you want, and then after like 10-15 seconds say "I'm kidding I actually don't care about blah blah, I just thought you were cute and didn't know what to say/wanted to talk to you".
It mostly doesn't matter what you use for your opener. The large majority of factors that determine whether you will hook up with a girl have nothing to do with how you open her. Things that have a bigger impact.
Is she even available or is she involved with some other guy?
Is she even in a mood/place in her life where she's open to meeting new guys?
Is she at least somewhat minimally attracted to you?
Are you guys compatible on a personality/vibe level?
Will she flake?
If she is open to meeting someone, does she want the same type relationship you want?
All of these things are much more important than how you open her. Here's a thought experiment:
Imagine the girl you are approaching is open to meeting someone new, is in a good mood, is physically attracted to you, likes your specific personality, wants the same type of relationship you want, and actually fully intends on coming on a date. Do you think all those things could be true but because you open with a situational opener vs a direct opener vs opinion opener etc that all the sudden those things are completely negated and she now won't meet up with you?
[–]Steve77307 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]Total_Obligation_371 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
They're just scared or not good at it. I've gotten numbers from girls at bus stops with multiple other people watching and the bus right about to pull up. It's all about your confidence and ability to handle tension.
Fair point for sure
[–]Ur_X -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Alright I have a question for you on indirect va direct game.
Usually whenever I go for direct “you’re cute” all I get is a smile and a “thanks”. How am I supposed to keep the interaction going? I feel is full sperg to go “go out with me” right after that.
What’s your follow up?
[–]Total_Obligation_371 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
You can just follow the basic format in my cold approach post.
Compliment
She says thank you
Ask her what she's up to/what she's up to that day
She'll respond
Respond to what she said in some way, you can make a little joke or something if you want (but don't feel forced to, if it's too stressful or unnatural at the moment, just one response/comment about what she said is fine)
Follow rest of the cold approach format.
The point of sticking with that format is so that you have a structure to latch onto that you can get comfortable with and that is repeatable. Anytime you learn something new, you generally have to follow a very strict structure until you get good at it. And then once you are comfortable with that structure, you can Branch out and add other things onto it. Learning game is the same as learning any other skill.
Once you are comfortable with that basic format, you can focus then on inserting your own personality into it. And then you slowly grow from there into having your own conversational style.
[–]IndianBureaucrat 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Dude how do you approach women in groups? Same approach? Or something different?
[–]Total_Obligation_371 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Same as if she's by herself. Except instead of saying what are you up to, say what are you guys up to. And then if one of the other girls says anything to you, you can acknowledge it and respond and then just go back to talking to the girl you want. You don't need to entertain or keep the attention of the rest of the group. In night game you do to a certain extent, but not day game.
[–]IndianBureaucrat 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thanks bruh, I’ll try that.
Im mainly trying to get better at night game, in bars/discs. If you have any suggestions for that, I’m listening.
[–]Particular_Visual531 37 points38 points39 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
all of these work:
"nice melons", "nice jugs of milk", "my banana is much bigger than any of those", "why are you looking in that butcher's case for meat, I got all the meat you need right here", "looking for something spicer than those jalapenos tonight", any jokes about how tuna smells, any jokes about cherries.
All of these are tried and true ways to score tons of women at the grocery store. While they are looking for the coupon for that box of cereal, women are vulnerable to almost any pickup line from a confident guy, so that means your shopping cart should be full of canned meats (sign of confidence) and lots of smelly cheeses (demonstrates you're a foreign guy with a vague European accent or that you're an artist).
Good luck with your grocery shopping! After trying all of these, let me know how it went or if you permanently switched to instacart because you were banned from the store (which is just the manager showing his weakness, they are always going to hate on geniuses like us!)

Honestly I’ve found that going out with the intention of meeting a woman never works. Women can smell that shit from a mile away. But if you just go into a conversation with no expectations and see where it can go and be yourself, it’ll go a lot smoother.

Just go up, ask her where the mayonnaise is. She'll tell you she doesn't know or she doesn't work there, then go from there. Btw day gaming shouldn't JUST be the grocery store. It's pretty much anywhere you go during your day. Approaching and speaking to people shouldn't be difficult. It takes me about 2-3 months of moving to a new neighborhood to know most of the people there on a "hey how are you" basis.

Not everyone is socially skilled… just like not everyone is good at sports or gets good grades easily. It can be difficult for some people to even say hello to a classmate, others have 30 min convo with strangers naturally. Instead of acting like someone should be able to do everything you can, help people who struggle with thing you’re good at….
[–]Westernleaning -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Uhhh… yeah, that’s why they come to Reddit ask questions and get answers? Pointing out the help process like it’s a bad thing is unhelpful. Social skill #1 is be positive, no one likes negativity (well almost no one, you seem to like pointing out someone answering a question is a bad thing). :)

Trying and failing is how you succeed. You just gotta adopt that mindset. It’s painful, but you learn so much.
When I was in 7th grade I had no friends. I sat at a lunch table with some popular kids and I wouldn’t say much. They didn’t know me I just sat down haha. They were hilarious. After a few months I started to talk some more, but I had no sense of humor like theirs. They let me in and I was kinda the loser in the group. But I was able to practice my humor and after a few years I had figured it out.
Fast forward 13 years later and I’m now the one who is popular with everyone. Insane turnaround possible only cause I failed and failed and turned those failures into a learning experience. I’ve failed embarrassingly bad so many times you wouldn’t believe it. And now people think I’m a champion.

Not an expert, by far. But I'd say something situational after you get some IOI. If you're in the chocolate aisle, something like "This chocolate is too good.", poiting at a particular brand you like. You can also ask for help "Do you know where the chocolate is?". But you have to follow up on that and make conversation, otherwise, the lady will help you and move on.

That's how I handle grocery interactions. There's almost no situation that would warrent a full conversation in a grocery store for me. So I just smile and walk away to finish my errands
[+]weredog31 -8 points-7 points-6 points 4 years ago (32 children) | Copy Link
It doesn't really matter if the girl accepts the conversation or not.
He already got what he could from you and that is overcoming his fear towards communicating with strangers.
Also, you wouldn't walk away if he was handsome and the man of your life :)
[–]ImAGhostOooooooo 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (31 children) | Copy Link
Please don't speak on my behalf about how I would react on social interactions 🙃 it's very unbecoming. What does "the man of your life" even mean?
Also this is why I started wearing ear buds when I shop, I got sick of being approached when I want to be left alone. It still doesn't work because someone will tap my shoulder to get my attention 😑
[–]Aldamis 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link
Your perspective is fair, but I wouldn't assume every girl would have the same reaction. I'm sure there's plenty of women who wouldn't mind being approached in the grocery store at all.
We're complex creatures so all advice from a particular person should be taken right a grain of salt.
[–]ImAGhostOooooooo 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
I think that's the trouble with these dating advice posts, advice isn't one size fits all yet some people act like it is. What one person finds charming another may find repulsive lol and you'll never know until after 🤣
[–]Aldamis 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Lol exactly.
[+]weredog31 -7 points-6 points-5 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
my advice fits all because let's say that a girl found a man charming and he figured it out but couldn't do shit because he feared from rejection and from the girl's response.
I have met with girls that made the first move towards me before but they are so rare so that can't always be expected.
I only disagree with you on "love at first sight" because this is what the real love is.
men should find a woman who will love them so dearly.
[–]ImAGhostOooooooo 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
my advice fits all
Your advice does not fit all because I already said it wouldn't work on me. There is no piece of advice that's "one-size-its-all". You cannot think your advice is above the rest
That is not what real love is, I would know, I've been in love and loved a few men in my lifetime. Love at first sight is really attraction/lust at first sight. You can't love someone you don't know. Love is built, not instantaneous.
This is true but like I said love is built over time. I'm not going to love a complete stranger I met while food shopping. It's just not going to happen and it makes no sense why you'd think that was possible.
[–]weredog31 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
My advice wasn't about "do it in order to get the girls" but to help him overcome his fears.
He is a shy guy.
I disagree.
I think our definition of love might be different so there's no need to debate.
People don't see anything other than their lover when they are in love.
This can't be built.
This is just you.
There are girls who do.
You won't love a complete stranger but you won't love your friend neither.
Most of my previous girlfriends had that "love at first sight" unlike you and that's the reason I went after them.
[–]ImAGhostOooooooo 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Yes, but you can't love somebody that you don't know. It's literally impossible. If you don't know anything about that person then it's just an attraction. It's not love. It's not like a cartoon where Sylvester sees the cat and is no longer focused on anybody else. That is so unrealistic on how to look at love. You can't just look at somebody, fall in love, and no longer be aware of anybody else in the world. It's such an immature mindset to think about love this way.
What they experienced was not love at first sight, it was attraction at first sight. You can't fall in love with somebody that you don't know.
[–]weredog31-1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Just like I said, there are girls like this.
This might not be you but they exist.
"What they experienced was not love at first sight, it was attraction at first sight. You can't fall in love with somebody that you don't know."
It is love because they don't need to know that somebody when they can imagine how he/she is.
that causes it.
[–]ImAGhostOooooooo1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
No. There's so many issues wrong with this type of thought process. And yes, you need to know someone in order to love them. You can't love someone if you don't know anything about them. I don't know why you're fighting so hard for something that isn't true.
they don't need to know that somebody when they can imagine how he/she is.
🤯 What 🤣 do you hear yourself right now omg. I'm done, have a good day lol
[–]weredog310 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I don't know why you're fighting so hard for something that isn't true.
I was wondering on the same about you.
Not every girl is the same.
[–]weredog31 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I know people who picked up girls grocery stores.
it's all about attraction.
some people attract girls with their tongue and the others with their physicality.
[–]Niceguy456 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This is so ridiculous that you are arguing about this and getting downvotes.
Every girl you're going to ask is going to say that daygame and approaching girls in the grocery store is inappropriate, why is this? It's simple, cause most times the guys can't take rejection and get rude so girls get bad experience from it, which is what they'll remember.
Yet, when this handsome, charming and confident guy approaches them and sweeps them off their feet, they will be over the world with joy and excitement, that he chose to approach her.
Also, confidence is the most attractive trait that girls love in a guy. And love/dating favors the bold men who actively approaches women as they go about their day. I have to emphasize the "go about their day" part, as going out with the sole intention to approach women comes of as extremely desperate and needy, which girls sense instinctively.
Agree 💯
[–]MrTsquared88 4 years ago [recovered] (10 children) | Copy Link
Have you ever asked a bunch of women how they feel about this though? Because like 99% of them would say they hate being approached in public.
Most would probably even say they hate being approached in bars and clubs.
A lot of them will even tell you they hate being approached on tinder and bumble lol.
You gotta know your target audience my guy.
[–]Aldamis 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
So basically 99% of women don't want to interact with guys whatsoever? Lol. IDK dude.. and how are we supposed to tell if they're our target audience? We can't. We just have to say fuck it and approach.
Any thoughts like "oh geez I hope I'm not bothering her" is just an excuse for us to not walk up and talk to her.
[–]MrTsquared88 4 years ago [recovered] (8 children) | Copy Link
Not so much that that don’t want to interact with guys whatsoever. It’s just that they don’t want to be approached for sexual reasons when they’re clearly not giving any signs of being open to it.
You’re living under the assumption where the default is that all people want romantic/ sexual/ flirtatious interactions all the time, unless stated (or signaled) otherwise.
Most women tend to live under the assumption that interactions should not be romantic/ sexual/ flirtatious, unless stated (or signaled) otherwise.
So how are you supposed to tell if a woman is your target audience? Assuming your target audience is women who like to get hit on in public, well, you can’t. But you can make the assumption that there’s a 99% chance that any girl you hit on is not your target audience. Thus, you shouldn’t hit on them.
It’s not making an excuse, it’s respecting boundaries. You’re living under the idea that the norm should be approaching women at grocery stores, and anyone who doesn’t do it is too afraid too… but the real question is: why are you hitting on girls in a grocery store, or any other public place? Don’t you have better things to do? It just comes off as desperate for sex.
And if you really want to look at this in terms of a day-game strategy or whatever, the fact is, most girls just find this to be creepy. And once a girl thinks you’re creepy, you’re probably never going to get with her ever.
So by approaching women in public, you have a 99% chance of ruining your chances forever with every woman you approach.
If you avoid approaching to women in public, there’s still a chance you could run into any of those women later on in a setting that’s more appropriate to speak to them. So potentially you still have a chance with all of the women you don’t approach, and you could then approach them at a more appropriate time— which I’ve literally had happen before.
[–]palguy22 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Lol shut up bro this is a huge over generalization.
You realize you can approach girls and talk to them without framing it in a sexual/direct context. Infact what people consider to be "day game" or cold approach is really just making situational conversation with strangers in a smooth and charming way.
Cold approach doesn't necessarily mean going around for hours in a mall or on the street spam approaching women and hitting on them out of nowhere.
You need to change your perspective a little and realize you're severely limiting yourself if you swear off talking to women in public.
[–]MrTsquared88 4 years ago [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link
So if it’s not romantic or sexual…. Why is it focused on women?
How many men have you approached with the intention of practicing your day game?
[–]palguy221 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Its not entirely platonic but it's not entirely romantic or sexual.
You can talk to women with the intention of wanting to make conversation but a potential romantic partner if things click. Just don't hit on them too obviously but it's okay to show interest if the convo is going good.
[–]MrTsquared881 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
See that’s the same mindset someone would a approach a first date with though. “I’m not 100% into it, but I’m open to going further depending on where things go”.
Convincing yourself that’s not romantic/ sexual is a joke lol. If it truly were about conversation, you’d be approaching people you aren’t attracted to, and practicing your day game with them as well.
But the end goal of it all is to try to pick up women. Being okay with a good conversation along the way doesn’t suddenly change the end goal.
And I think you’re underestimating a woman’s ability to see right though that lol. As soon as a man approaches them in public, they know what’s up.
You just misunderstood my point. I don't need to convince myself I don't have romantic or sexual intentions, I do and I'm totally comfortable with that but it's not 100% on my mind
My point is you're not supposed to make it obvious. Women know I'm attracted to them when I approach but by playing it cool and not hitting on them right of the bat shows I'm socially calibrated and makes for a more pleasant exchange even if they're not into me.
When a guy approaches a girl, they both know that there is some romantic underlying motivation somewhere but not making it overt is what makes it smooth.
Tbh you're reading way too much into this, you should analyze/read less about this stuff and go do more approaches just don't make it obvious you're hitting on them but it's okay if they find out you're attracted it's called being a man
See I feel like you’re tying your ego into this, and then saying I’m reading too into this when I’m breaking down what you’re doing. You’ve convinced yourself that approaching women makes you a man, and it makes you stand out from other men. It’s part of your identity, it sounds like.
There are plenty of ways to be a man. A real man doesn’t need to go around acting like a man, or doing things to feel manly. Those are the actions of an insecure man who wants to desperately prove his masculinity.
A socially calibrated person doesn’t interrupt people in the grocery store, except to maybe gain some tangible information if they have a question about something.
And my whole point with all of this— even if you disagree, and you think it should be more socially acceptable to approach people for no reason other than to flirt with them (which, no matter how subtle you are, that is your end goal), a vast majority of girls just simply disagree with you.
If you want this strategy to work efficiently, you will have better luck putting out public messages to try to change the overall perception of women in our society.
Women have been very vocal about this, and it’s clear that most of them don’t like this. Yeah, there are probably a few out there who do like it, but they’re few and far between. You’re going to have a much higher success rate in situations that are deemed more acceptable for flirting
[–]Aldamis 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Well, good luck with that man. I hope it works for you.
It’s worked out great, my guy. I’ve gotten with plenty of women in the past, and I’m currently in a 3 year relationship that couldn’t be better.
And how did I do this? By not being creepy. 🤷🏻♂️

[–]ImAGhostOooooooo 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
You mean "the love of my life"?
I already have one but go on 🤣. I didn't fall for him with "love at first sight", it happened over a period of a few months. We had immediate attraction and chemistry, but the relationship took time before I realized he was the love of my life.
[–]CloutComputing -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Well for guys like myself (25, work from 1-9:30pm M-F among old married men, live in a neighborhood with a LOT of younger women), to me anyplace is fair game to cold approach. I have next to no dating experience because I was a pussy in high school and college. Now when I have a chance, I can't talk myself out of "taboo" environments.
Hobbies and social outlets are few and far between, and are not always going to be a place where you'll meet your significant other. I've seen my friends do it, but this has not been the case for me.
Bars and clubs are interesting, but they tend to attract super extroverts, and I'm not really into that scene for a variety of reasons.
And dating apps are extremely flakey, and I can't seem to get my pictures right, so my results are never worth anything. I almost never get matches or likes, but in person I'm not ugly by any stretch of imagination.
Of course I'd like something to happen gradually, but unfortunately I think it's just unrealistic for me. Becoming friends with a girl will sap any potential romance. People meet and jump in the bed within the first week, and even if they don't, I would imagine it wouldn't be easy to build romantic chemistry.
[–]ImAGhostOooooooo 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I never said there's anything wrong with doing a cold approach, I just don't think food shopping is the best place to do it lol. I was just giving my two cents on my opinion of the issue, I don't think there's anything wrong with the approach itself. They just need to be aware that it won't be successful for every woman. I also don't agree with this person's opinion on love at first sight, because there's no such thing as love at first sight. You can't love somebody that you don't know.
People meet and jump in the bed within the first week, and even if they don't, I would imagine it wouldn't be easy to build romantic chemistry.
Sleeping with somebody doesn't mean that you love them. And sleeping with somebody within a week doesn't mean you can't develop a romantic connection later on either. Correlation does not equal causation

What about lesbian women? Not every girl thinks the same bruh.
And yeah, I’m sure you can find an example of someone who met a girl at a grocery store. You can probably find an example of some dude meeting a girl in every type of place.
But they’re all anecdotes. Look at the bigger picture. You’re far more likely to see success when you approach women in settings that are more geared towards flirting— like a bar or clubs.

Yeah no, who in the hell is trying to pick someone up in a grocery store? I'm in there after working and just want to get home and cook some dinner.
If a random ass dude walked up to me and said "Hello how are you?" I'd look at you like you were weird and give the most bland "Um, ok." and keep shopping, and going out of my way to avoid going down the same aisle.
[–]weredog31 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link
I mean, nobody goes to the grocery store for meeting with new people but if there's an attraction between two people, then why not?
[–]zzzrecruit 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link
If two people make eye contact and maintain that eye contact, and you feel confident enough to shoot your shot, you do what you want. I'm talking about dudes asking women "Hey how was your day" when she's just trying to figure out what brand of olive oil to buy.
[–]Abovemeis 4 years ago [recovered] (11 children) | Copy Link
Since when has just having a conversation with someone been taboo? Jesus Christ God forbid a guy just wants to strike up a conversation with a woman he sees at a grocery store.. and you should know that most women are pretty receptive to having conversations at grocery stores, and anywhere else for that matter. maybe not for you, but from my experience 95% of women are okay with having a friendly conversation just about anywhere. Just because it's not for you doesn't mean it's a bad thing to do. If it builds attraction fine, it can progress, if not, no harm done it's just a conversation.
[–]zzzrecruit 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
But it's not "just a conversation" if you have motives of getting her number. If you are literally just being friendly and expecting nothing else, then fine.
My whole problem here is that OP calls it "daygame at a grocery store". Like goddamn, some people are just trying to get some fruit and get out. If you or OP want to pick up women, do it at a place where socializing with strangers is expected. Go to the beach, take your dog to the dog park, go to a sports bar, go shoot some pool at a lounge, etc.
[–]Abovemeis 4 years ago [recovered] (9 children) | Copy Link
Yes but by your same logic, some people are just at the beach to relax in the sun and swim, some people are at the dog park to let their dog play, some people are at a pool lounge to play pool. You're always gonna find people in places that don't wanna be approached, it doesn't mean you should never strike up a conversation with another stranger ever again. I agree this op shouldn't go out to a grocery store just to get girls numbers, that's wrong. He should go there when he needs groceries, and if he happens to see a lady that catches his eye, just go up and start a conversation with just the intention of getting to know her.
[–]zzzrecruit 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

The last sentence of your post is exactly what I'm talking about.
[–]Healthy_Internal4969 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
You don't have any idea of what you are talking about. There is nothing wrong as long as she feels comfortable. Why do you need to tell people where that can meet other people? That's what a dictator does. Let them do whatever the f*** they wanna do. It's not your business, you can get home and wait for Ronaldo to call you.
[–]zzzrecruit -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Ok, thanks for not allowing me to do it.
Mind your business and don't spoil ideas that won't cause any harm beyond "she doesn't want to meet a man, she just wants her olive oil / drink / clothes / walk / fruit". That's shit. Everyone is ready to f**k.
I have a feeling you're a kid lol, or a teenager at best. 🤔

[–]timetobbetter 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link
And this is probably why you’re single. You automatically assume that they’re hitting on you. Maybe they had a genuine question, maybe they’re trying to get out of their social comfort zone, maybe they simply just need someone to talk to right now. By you assuming that they’re hitting on you you’re essentially locking yourself out from social interaction.
The world right now is so messed up to the point that if anyone talks to anyone it’s labeled as being weird. How do you think that our ancestors evolved, constantly figuring things out for themselves? If they did that we would still be hitting things with rocks in the middle of a jungle, I wouldn’t be typing this out on my $1300 piece of technology. The way our ancestors made friends and met their spouses. Was by talking to people… some people are so narrow minded
[–]oriana94 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I would do the same if I was single. But I'm not. So what's your point. If you have a question say "hey I have a question" not "hey how are you"? Because I am in the store to get my shit and leave. I'm glad people meet that way, that's not what I'm saying. To judge others, just because most women wouldn't stop to talk to a stranger doesn't make this world fucked up. It's fucked up that we can't talk to someone without assuming that, isn't it?? I think so too. That's not our fault. We're literally treated that way, all the time. We do not owe you a conversation. You sound narrow minded as well.
[–]timetobbetter -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I don’t think I said we were entitled to a conversation. Just as humans communication is the moral of how we evolved. Granted the “how are you” vs “hey I have a question” is what should be addressed, that goes hand in hand with the “um, ok” walks away vs “I’d really not like to talk right now have a nice day.” Kindness in my book should be first, I’m only hostile or disrespectful to people if they disrespect me first. If they are an ass then he’ll yeah I’m gonna defend myself but just because you had a bad interaction with the last person who you met doesn’t mean you need to treat all people like that. Every person is a unique character in your life. I have a lot to learn still, I’m not claiming I know everything. If I’m narrow minded you helped me by giving your opinion allowing me to open up my life to other options. Communication in every phase of life is a two way street, many people; myself included, sometimes forget that and hurt their own self as well as others in the process
[–]zzzrecruit 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
No one genuinely asks a random stranger how they're doing out of the blue like that. If they do it, they're just trying to gauge the receptivity of the person they're trying to hit on. You can get out of here trying to pretend you'd innocently do this with absolutely zero motive. As if I'm going to tell a random man about my day, and as if he really cares lol.
I am single because I'm not actively looking for a partner.
I dont WANT social interaction in a goddamned grocery store lol. I do plenty of socializing in places that are meant for socializing with new people. In a grocery store, I'm just trying to grab the shit I forgot to get when I planned my dinner the day before lol.
[–]timetobbetter -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I’m not saying there’s zero motive. What I’m saying is the motivation backing the initial interaction may be different. You see it as getting hit on. The other person may not be trying to hit on you at all. They may have been trying all day to talk to someone or have someone talk to them because they’ve been cooped up in their house for the last week after their dog died and they were 5 minutes away from taking their own life just to finally get out of their house and take their future into their own hands by searching for someone to vent to because they have no one else. The moral of what I’m trying to say is that you don’t know their history. Everyone has a different outlook on society, and mine is that no matter what the person looks like I still have a conversation with them. If it’s five minutes out of my day to acknowledge someone who is trying to communicate with me. I owe it to myself to be a decent human being for them because I know that if I were in the same boat I’d probably be out doing the same thing. I’ve had girls flirt with me who I had no plans of pursuing, not once did I say “um, ok” and walk away, is that how your parents raised you?
In the end, it’s probably less than 5 minutes of your time, we as humans spend that scrolling on Facebook or typing comments on Reddit. If we can have these interactions whose to say a <5 minute real life interaction is too much for our daily schedule.
That’s good that you aren’t actively looking, that’s when people come into your life who you’d least expect. Also that’s how my parents met, they weren’t even looking and then one day they met.
It’s okay to be introverted and not crave social interaction everywhere. One thing I’ve found is that when you get a friend group most people stagnate in life. They get comfortable being comfortable. Growth occurs from adapting to uncomfortable situations. That’s why we enjoy rollercoasters so much. The adrenaline, the unknown, the anxiety associated with it. It’s all feelings just like meeting someone new.
You seem very set in your opinion so I won’t try to change it but ask yourself this one question. If you were in the store and someone asked you a question not pertaining to you but simply about a recipe that they were trying to perfect and couldn’t get right would you have reacted any differently?
[–]focus_flow69 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Great, then move along.
You'd look at me like I'm weird, I'd look at you like you are rude and actually happy you self selected yourself out.

[–]zzzrecruit 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
You'd really walk up to a random woman, as a man, and say, "Hi, how are you doing?" Without any prior contact? You don't see how that could be weird or alarming to a woman?
Look man, she's just trying to but groceries. Go to a bar like a normal person to pick up women.
[–]focus_flow69 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes, I'd walk up to any random person, man or woman and be happy to say hi how are you.
Yes I understand how some people can be alarmed or weirded out. I also understand there are some people who won't care and be curious as to what I have to say or who I am. There will also be some people who are indifferent. There will be some people who are excited someone approached them because they never have a chance to meet strangers.
Anyone can perceive anything to be weird in any context. I'm not going to live life catering to the whim of other people's perception of reality. Different people have different perceptions, there's too many to cater to, so instead I focus on the positive perceptions. Seriously.
Don't like it then say hi, sorry I'm just busy shopping and not interested in chatting and walk away like an adult.
We cannot live in a society where people are scared to even say hi to strangers.
Get a grip on reality.

[–]Tactical_INTJ 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Approaching women at grocery store is really not that different from let's say in the street.
Here's an example of street conversation.
You notice this chick with amazing tattoo.
Tell her you were thinking about getting tattoos like that. Ask for direction to the nearest tattoo shop.
When she's done, ask if she's a student or something and may be what's she's doing in the town.
Casually drop that you're here with your friends and is looking for a good place to hang out. Ask for recommendation.
May be then you can ask her whether she's an outgoing person or not and proceed with "Actually Let me buy you a beer and I'll show you my tattoo." Hand her your phone.
It just takes a minute or two. The conversation is organic and natural. I mean you can't have more natural conversation than this with a stranger AND get her number.
So yeah, you can try similar pattern on grocery store. Just try and it'll come to you.
[–]ChildSlayer30014 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
You do it like you do it at any other place in the day bro. Also, ignore the comments. This sub has gone to trash, people like to make fun and joke around instead of actually helping.
Another thing, the grocery store might not be such a good idea because if you get noticed by the staff, doing it every single day, you might get banned.
[–]CaliGalOMG 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree with others it say most people on a mission at the grocery store so I would skip it unless you get some flirtatious signs.
Also, to me if a man is picking up on women in grocery stores he’s going to do that all the time. It’s almost as bad as the guys in cars yelling at me driving or walking dogs or jogging, if they can get your number; that’s not the kinda guy I’d want to deal with.
[–]TrueBroccoli8 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Here's some fool-proof lines for you:
“I just come to the fruit section to talk to random, very good-looking people that stand near it"
"We can meet here next week to talk about the broccoli if you want"
"Cotton candy grapes. They taste just like them I’m not kidding."
"It’s really just so I have a story for my sister and my niece when I see them. Because I think we’re gonna talk about the grapes."
"I’m already ruining this, so I’m just going to keep going. Do you think I could have your number"
And... then close with this.... "So..... I cooked us something. If you’re open to trying it....."

[–]Thin_Protection5616 -4 points-3 points-2 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link
That you frame talking to a woman in a grocery store as stalking.
Even before I learned what game was, I approached a girl in a grocery store and we dated for 7 years. She was a leggy Russian.
You, on the other hand, probably date fat feminists with hairy armpits and try to manipulate your way into sex by virtue signalling how much of an ally you are.
[–]Unforg1ven_Yasuo 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
This is just sad bro. Your gf posted something to try to help other women with body dysmorphia and you used the opportunity to tell her that if she gets “fat” you’re gonna leave. It’s clear you don’t care about her at all, and this kind of behaviour causes EDs. Grow up.

Weird twist of words. I’ll argue with the incel tho no problem. Mr Andrew tate enjoyer.
The context of day gaming at a grocery store is implicitly implying being at said place for the intention of approaching women.
That in its purest form is predatory behavior.
Your small example doesn’t exonerate the act of “day gaming” and inquiring about the best advice to do so.
Considering I found this sub a week ago because someone was reading the top posts. There’s not a human here with an ounce of game id trust to listen to.
Specially if they consider Andrew tate a credible source for advice for men.

Ok, sure. I wouldn't go to a grocery store simply to practice daygame or to have a session. But, if I see a girl at a grocery store that I want to talk to, I wouldn't moralize my way out of it.
Simply put, in my mind, women like being approached by a guy like me. Considering that the majority of the girls I've slept with are those I've met in public (i.e., daygame rather than night, online, or social circle game), I'd say this view is reasonable.
On the other hand, every guy who's ever told me that approaching women in the public is wrong or creepy... Well, they typically have rock bottom notch counts or are in the middle a multi-year long dry spell. Who should I trust. My own experience (and that of the other guys I know who do well by daygame) or cowards who hide behind morality and don't get laid. Tough call.
So let's recap:
You don't game. You only learned about game a week ago. And you think your opinion on game is worthwhile. Makes a ton of sense.

Now I'm going to do it more.

Considering your post history I’m not worried.
[–]CloutComputing -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link
No you shouldn't be, because I'll be taking the women that you were too afraid to talk to. I've already started approaching this week.
[–]HarryDabs710 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
WOW! You started approaching THIS WEEK?! Someone’s finally got their training wheels on 😂 it’s so pathetic how people on here will literally brag about how they talk to more women than someone else…who the fuck cares?
[–]CloutComputing -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm the last person here that should brag. I don't have any tangible success. Stop trying to defend this guy who has no leg to stand on. THAT'S pathetic.
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link
Go for it. Hope it works out for you. (It won’t)
[–]CloutComputing 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link
Again, you are speaking with a defeatist mindset. Do you not hear yourself?
Like the other guy said, you are the one who sits back and hopes that women will just fall on your lap. That used to be me. I've become proactive now and are seeking them out. "Don't talk to strangers" is a load of shit. "Don't make people uncomfortable" is silly.
I walk through the grocery store multiple times a week to pick up stuff. I see average or even conventionally unattractive guys with hot women all the time, and I doubt they're siblings. Do you really think they all met via an app? And even it was through a social circle, does every guy have to ability to maintain one? No way.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link
Keep coping.
[–]CloutComputing 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link
You sound like the real incel here.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link
You’re grasping just like your attempts to make women uncomfortable in grocery stores.
[–]CloutComputing 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link
No, I view it as my attempts to make conversation in the grocery store. We have become isolated as a society and I'm not falling into that trap. I don't give a damn who I make uncomfortable. You are saying this as a way to cope with the fact that you would never have the balls to do it yourself.
"Making conversation" is not illegal. Hell, outright telling a girl you think she's cute isn't even harassment or sexual harassment if you don't keep pushing the subject when you've been rejected. At least where I am in the US, the First Amendment allows me to (for the most part) approach someone without fear of retribution.
[–][deleted]1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
So you approach men too?
[–]CloutComputing1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
I went to Toronto the other day and asked a young couple on the street for directions, yes I do.
No see you tried. Do you go to grocery stores to approach mean for this “conversation”?
Why not? I talk to everyone
But you don’t. So keep coping
How do you know that I don't? Even when I'm getting food in line at a restaurant and it's taking too long, me and another guy will notice and start a conversation off of that. It's not that unusual.
[–][deleted]2 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
But you’re targeting women that’s whole context of day gaming. That’s the description.
Okay? And what's is your point? Why are we judging morality here?
Everyone who meets their signigant other has to meet them somewhere, and talk to them. Maybe it was uncomfortable, maybe it wasn't. Maybe it was gradual or maybe it wasn't.
Both you and I have a biological mother and father. Chances are they had to go through courtship, or perhaps it was done all in one night and they forgot about it (well she didn't). They had to meet each other one way or another, unless you're a test tube baby (which is extremely rare).
Do you see my point here? What you think is immoral or unethical, I see as a necessary evil to getting to where I want to be. All my life I've been a hermit, afraid to express how I feel to girls. I've had a revelation and am now the opposite.
You can’t argue morals about day gaming women in grocery stores. Because you need to be without them
So you think it's immoral? Why?
[–]AFarAwayTimeTraveler2 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
We’re back at the start. So read my first comment and work your way down till it enters your lizard brain
You have too much free time on your hands. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it.
[–]AFarAwayTimeTraveler1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
You do not provide me with shit good sir.
[–]jacklychi 4 years ago [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link
Make sure you get some IOI before approaching.
Game is not a one-sided thing. It is a 50-50 interaction where 2 people work together to make something happen.
If you are in a girl's field of view, and the area is not too packed with people, and she hasn't given you eye contact once, you can tell she isn't available/interested.
[–]Steve77307 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link
It's not always possible to get eye contact first, so I wouldn't call it off just because of that. When I cant get eye contact, I start by saying "excuse me" to get her attention. Its a soft way to start things up.
[–]jacklychi 4 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link
Depending on your goals. If you are out to build your confidence and push yourself and wanna approach as much as possible, then yes.
But if you just go on with you grocery trip and wanna improve your success rate and be less awkward, then play it safer.
[–]Steve77307 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Doing less approaches because of unideal eye contact/circumstances may increase your "success rate" but it doesn't increase your actual amount of success.
Scenario 1: you approach 30 out of 30 girls, and managed to get 5 numbers.
Scenario 2: You approach 20 out of 30 girls, because the other 10 did not have sufficient eye contact first. Those 10 might have been less likely to number close, but they still might have. You can probably see how doing less approaches doesn't increase the amount of numbers you get.
[–]jacklychi1 point 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
you assume that you are a "machine" with no other tasks or any emotions.
I am talking more about approaching the 1 or 2 out of 30, but having a genuine non-cold-approach connection which leads to a solid date. Not just "I am gonna be nice and give him my number" type of close.
[–]youngtunaf1sh2 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

[–]sweetlemontime2 points 4 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

[–]TechnoGeek423 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I haven’t had a huge amount of luck with this. It’s sort of like yoga class. Lots of good looking single women, but they’re on a mission and in my experience not always in a mood to be approached.
The caveat on this is look for eye contact and especially a smile. If she holds it longer than a second, you’re in. Also you can quickly tell if a girl is taken in a grocery store. She’ll be there with her partner.
A woman alone in a grocery store is very likely single.
Happy approaching!

80% of the time I go in a grocery store I’m without my husband and my married friends are almost always there without theirs.
[–]TechnoGeek423 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Do you wear a ring? And if so, are you open to being approached?
Yes, i wear my wedding ring.
I used to be friendlier because I enjoyed people and enjoyed being a nice person, but I still ignored obvious creeps. Which makes me think, this is another component to it - there are far more sketchy people now than there used to be. (OC & LA County). Now I mostly keep my head down and I don’t even want to be approached by women. It’s scary.
If there’s a girl around your age and she’s smiled at you on her own, then I suppose it doesn’t hurt to say Hi. And I wouldn’t use a line. I’d just say “what are you up to?” or say “I’m going to go to Daves Pool Bar around 10, I okay for quarters but I’ve only won 2.” Something light, not trying to be tricky.

Only 2 rules to follow when hitting on women at grocery store:
[+]shared0 -7 points-6 points-5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Ask them what kinda milk they got.
You’re probably going to have very limited success with this one.
We could get into a debate over whether approaching women at a grocery store is “appropriate or inappropriate”. We could get into a debate over “flirting vs. harassment.” And we can get into a debate over what should be accepted and what shouldn’t be. But all of those would more-or-less be very opinion based, and wouldn’t really get us anywhere.
What we can argue about is the general opinions of women. And I think it’s fair to say that 99% of women would prefer to not be hit on at a grocery store.
Whether or not you think they should have this opinion is irrelevant, because at the end of the day, they do have this opinion. And hitting on them in the grocery store is not going to change their opinion, no matter how “smooth” or “charming” you come across.
So if you want to see success hitting on women in a grocery store, you’re going to have to start by campaigning for it, and making some huge changes in our society. You’re basically going to have to go up against all of feminism on this one, because they’re effectively combatting men who do this, and they’re winning that fight right now.
But since that’s completely ridiculous, I would suggest not hitting on women in the grocery store. Again, staying objective here, your target audience is generally going to find it inappropriate.
To get a little more subjective though, personally, I think it comes off desperate. You go to the grocery store to get groceries. That’s why everyone is there. If you go to the grocery store looking for a sexual/ romantic partner, it means you can’t find one elsewhere, and you’re resorting to a grocery store now.
It would be like walking into a bakery and asking to buy a car. There are places to go where most people are looking for romantic/ sexual partners. But at a grocery store, people are just looking to buy food. Maybe a friendly smile or even short, friendly communication from a stranger is expected, but not flirting. So it just comes off as desperate. As if you feel the need to be romantic/ sexual in a place where there’s no reason to be.
A dude who is truly confident doesn’t need to go around hitting on women like that. He can just walk into a grocery store, get his stuff, and walk out. A confident man has better things to do, and isn’t worried about finding sex at all moments of the day.
Again, if you want to argue against all of that, I suppose this is all my opinion, and you’re entitled to your own. But going back to objectivity here, if this is what I think when I see men hitting on women in grocery stores, then it’s probably fair to say that a lot of other people will as well. So my point is, whether I’m right or wrong doesn’t matter, because that’s likely how your actions will be interpreted by the women you hit on.
So I just really don’t think you’re going to see a lot of success with this strategy. And if you hit on a woman who gets very offended, she might report you and get you banned from the grocery store.

If anyone's reading this, don't be discouraged by what this guy's saying. You come off as an overthinker. It's not that complicated. I met my soon-to-be wife in a gym parking lot lol just be calibrated enough to let her know you're a normal guy after you've expressed interest. Be respectful. If she's not feeling it, it's really all good. Thank her for her time, wish her a good day, that's it.
And I think it’s fair to say that 99% of women would prefer to not be hit on at a grocery store. Just avoid any overly direct pick up attempt. Don't lead off with any kind of compliment or pick up line. Just ask for advice on how to pick a good canto lope or which beef is best for a stew... whatever the hell section she's in at the time and stops to look at stuff.
If she has a real answer continue following her lead and follow up question. If she just shrugs and says i don't know, segway into why you are asking. I'm trying to learn how to cook so i don't do take out everyday, i'm trying to go on a diet, blah blah whatever. If she finds the floor more interesting than you at that point then thank her and move on.
