I'm from Eastern Europe, currently living in a western country, so I feel I'm qualified to comment on this.

Young Eastern European women put a lot of effort into their looks. "Everyone is beautiful" is just not a thing over there. Your own mother will call you a cow if you put on a little weight. Men are expected to be stoic, masculine, and a provider, but they don't have the same pressure to be physically attractive.

Gold digging is also much more acceptable over there, so these types of relationships are more common. Fat Pavel, probably had some money by local standards, or at least a 1-bedroom apartment he would likely inherit from his babushka

Demographics is the easiest answer. The history of the twentieth century in that part of the world is one of immense bloodshed, and the death toll of national crisis is disproportionately born by men. Eastern europe has experienced a shortage of men since the end of the second world war and this has not completely leveled out as far as I'm aware. At any rate a shortage of men in the dating market creates a power imbalance that shifts the dating culture and normative expectations of the market in favor of men. This works the same in reverse.

There is also a psychological explanation that most likely contributes. Women in more resource abundant environments tend to behave more competitively on average and women resource poor environments pursue more cooperative behavior. Pairing up is ultimately about reproductive cooperation and seeing as eastern europe is poorer than the west you would expect to see the dynamic described.

My son has spent quite a bit of time in Eastern Europe, especially before Ukraine blew up and basically made travel to the former Soviet world dicey. He dated women from a few countries there. He now lives in a Western European country and is dating an Eastern European student at a Western European university (he is no longer a student but also in his 20s). He hasn't dated American women since he first lived in Eastern Europe for a while during college.

Based on my own observations traveling there over decades and my son's experiences, I'd say it comes down to a couple of things: (1) a much smaller percentage of women are financially independent enough to be following the life script common in the West of travel and self-discovery during the 20s and later marriage, and so are more marriage/serious minded from much younger ages than is common in the West today and (2) far fewer men offer quality, from the baseline "provider/responsibility" perspective than in the West, and so this is more prized by women for that reason as well. In other words, putting the two together -- women value provision and responsibility more than in the West at younger ages because they are more interested in serious relationships at younger ages than in the West, and in general there are fewer local men who are capable of fulfilling these requirements, which also makes them more in demand. That means the men who do have these desired characteristics have market power which they simply do not have in the West.

In the West, women demand these characteristics less (and will even forego them entirely if they are attracted enough to the man), and often don't even start looking for them for quite a number of years, until the later 20s or 30s. So the market is very different in the West, overall, and more favorable to women than to men. A man who has his basic act together financially and in terms of responsibility is going to do well just for that reason in EE ... in the West, lol. Irrelevant, mostly, unless it's coupled with charisma, interesting personality, personal style, and good baseline looks. In short, women in the West can be more demanding because they are under less pressure and are looking for different things, whereas in EE, women are more interested in certain characteristics and are looking for them earlier.

Dating/mating really is a local game, the markets are really, really different depending on where you actually are.

I was blown away by the gorgeous women in Russia. Just random women sitting on the metro, looking like perfect dolls. It was unreal. Same thing in the Czech Republic. I remember seeing groups of teenage girls at the mall that just… were so well-put-together, gorgeous, and confident, it was like they had a filter on in real life.

In Sweden on the other hand, the women were chubbier than expected and wore a TON of makeup (was there in 08). But it was the men that stood out: tall and attractive, and most significantly, so many confident, trim, and well-dressed middle aged men. It made me really think about what is going on with middle aged men in the States, even just health-wise.

Eastern European woman here. I have never in my life compared attractiveness of two people who're a couple irl. Didn't even occur to me. Nor did I ever look at a man and go "he's less attractive than me, I'm out of his league" or "he's more attractive than me, I'm out of his league." Either I'm attracted or I'm not, I'm not going shopping, I'm having a human interaction.

We had sort of a different pathway to women's rights here. We got them through socialism and the principles of equality embedded there. Everyone contributes. Everyone is a comrade. Everyone does their best. Women in the workforce were normalized way earlier and never left because we can't afford to leave, family living on one salary is very rare here, many are scraping by with two. Our "trad-wife" isn't a rich conservative woman from the suburbs, it's a villager woman with a garden and animals and fields doing back breaking labor every day. We still have grandparents whose marriages were arranged, even some people's parents still. I don't know if that makes a difference and I don't know how exactly it is in the West, but I think gender dynamics have quite a different cultural context.

Why are women happy to hang out with you if you buy them a drink? Because if you don't act like a creep/nuisance, we want to hang out with men as friends even if we don't find them attractive. We have large multigender friend groups, we hang out, we party. We might not like you, but you're an okay guy. Our friend might like you or we might like your friends. We're not so scared of strangers and approaches.

Making it seem like they are in a magical world where social norms like beauty isn’t a thing is odd. It’s a thing everywhere. You think they have lots of models just because they don’t try? They have a lot of models from those counties because of how hard they try. Their form of beauty is different and just because they don’t have a caked up face or implants like in other countries doesn’t mean they are make up free or diligent about their looks how they are taught in their country

I think you might just be selectively looking. It's a big problem for users on here, which often ends up with wildly different observations on who looks better than whom in couples they see. (The real answer is that it all balances out. Whatever way you think it is, no way all the hotter people of one gender are single.)

Western women are willing to take that risk, Eastern women are not. It's short term strategy Vs long term strategy.

Western women were definitely killing it with this strategy the last decade. It has been widely promoted by feminists and media. However as with all short term strategies, now their problems have started.

And Eastern women are starting to overtake them. Both in popularity with men. As well in money available to them later in life, and generational wealth for their kids.

Only read the title as I'm in a rush. I can confirm this is true...I've had 15 Eastern Europeans work for my company and most if not all were absolutely stunning but their partners looked "unfortunate " in the looks department...I mean have you seen the typical Polish man? They look like neanderthals. I think they prefer a strong man who can protect her and atlrast pick her up and carry her over some pretty boy..even when I used to meet Polish girls in clubs..just go over and ask if you can buy them a drink they are always flattered even the 8's and 9's and they will stick with you all night..not necessarily have sex but dance and enjoy eachothers company.

Fedor emelianenko is stereotypically Eastern European looking guy (yes I know he is actually russian) he has a dad bod even in his prime, shaved head by choice, stoic face..he would enter the cage as enthusiastic as me going to work on Monday mornings. No expression. Proceed to almost murder his opponents then head home get changed into his horrible trademark stripey jumper that looks like he found in lost property and probably have a shot of vodka and bed..in thevwest he would be considered a 4 I'm guessing..by Eastern Europeans standards he's a 10. They like their men to be hyper masculine.

women in the west are far more socially/financially independent, there is also far less of an expectation to settle down and have kids, ergo - western women have the social space to be pickier since settling down isn’t a major social of theirs - that being said, seeing couples all over the attraction scale is still quite common in the west, a chad can struggle or succeed in dating and so can a balding skinny fat man - it has less to do with superficial factors and much more to do with individual dynamics.

I actually think that’s why many western men seem to struggle; men are resistant to the idea of that social expectation no longer existing because it means having to do more than simply being able to provide and offer security. Basically, women are less dependent on men in the west and because of this men can’t get by on assets alone (hell, id even go as far as saying as a man in the west, you don’t need to rely on assets if you work on things like your presentation, personality, etc)

I don't think they care less about looks, they just don't engage in casual sex as much or trying to use sex in order to lock down the man inevitably ending up in a situationship that goes nowhere. Even in the west, if you take a good look at most couples, who are actually in a relationship, you'll notice that either the man and the woman are of similar attractiveness or the woman is more attractive. You'll very rarely see a hot dude with a plain looking woman.

The less financially independent women in a given country are on average, the more heavily they will weigh money into the equation vs looks. Western men might perceive this as “gold digging,” but the fact is, there isn’t a place on earth where anyone male or female doesn’t have to have something to offer.

Also, I haven’t traveled to Eastern Europe, but the general consensus seems to be that there are more beautiful women, and most of the women put a lot of effort into their looks. So the percentage of women you would perceive as attractive is going to be higher, and some of those will be with less attractive men.

This post is weird. The Eastern European female friends Ive had are among the harshest critics of looks I have ever met and some of the most appearance focused commenters Ive interacted with. Its probably because obesity and just being overweight is not common where they are from. Some of these people even say rude things to American women who are at a healthy weight but are simply busty or have large hips too because being curvy is somewhat genetic and there are less curvy people where they are from.

In Poland, the society expect women to look pretty and attractive. Most of women there do their best to meet that expectation (no matter the age). It's just normal, something you grow up with, and no one questions it. Woman = must be pretty.

There is no similar expectation regarding men for some reason so men have more liberties in not looking their best. However, it's more expected of men to have a decent job and not to be lazy. There are different pressures the genders deal with in Poland.

So, my view may be very odd. But I would say that, generally, in the West men often look better than the women and in the East (of Europe) women look better than the men. I only speak about facial features here. I see a lot of very attractive women in my country and the men are just meh. Anyone who's lived in or spent a significant amount of time in the Balkans or Eastern Europe knows this is true. Daily you'll see women who are 7's and 8's with guys who are 4's and 5's. The reason this happens is that EE and Balkan women are looking for more than the stereotypical western qualities of looks, money and status in a partner. They are actually looking for men who have great character who will make good husband's and fathers. Your beliefs, morals and personality weigh a ton in their eyes because they are actually looking for someone they can spend the rest of their lives with.

It's a combination of things. As slightly backwards and developing countries, EE hasn't quite adopted feminism and equality of the genders as the west has. Dating is way less feminized and so are men. They don't fret about their height or jaw squareness. They look at more stereotypically male things like strength, cars, authority. Men also tend to be more rough around the edges and chauvinistic, so they have no problem putting their women in place and showing them who is wearing the pants in the relationship. EE respond to that very favorably. They find the Western mens obsession with looks, height, hair or lack there of very weird and feminine. In their minds, the woman is the one who cares about looks and being skinny and what not. They expect men to be men, to be able to fix shit, get shit done and be the man of the house. Pretty foreign concepts to most Western men.

Half of comments here is bullshit. I'd agree women are just generally more attractive so you pick what you get. There's a lot of pressure on appearance for women, and that's it. Some men still live with the mindset skincare=gay. So what can you do.

But at least poland, especially warsaw as it was your example, do not differ that much from west. West might be more open, but warsaw is not much different. Countryside is more closed for sure, but it's not like we are a different world.

Inequality? There's more women (58%) in higher education than men. Most women work. Surviving on one wage can be difficult in city like warsaw, but that's for both genders.We aren't a shithole with huge inequality, poverty, and empty shelves. I've dated in a lot of different countries. Western Females tend to be very shallow. It's just a fact. It doesn't have anything to do with real attraction... it's the same crap psychology that made Hugh Hefner date 20 year old girls when he was 80. I live in an area in California where many Russian couples move to, straight from Russia. I definitely see different trends with them than western women

-They are much more attractive than western women on average

-They are are much more traditionally feminine than western women

-They are absolutely cold bitches to average soy cucked blue pilled muppet feminized western men who think men and women are equal

-They are submissive to masculine men (powerful, dangerous, don’t put up with their shit)

-The Russian men they move here with are often these types of men. They are often significantly less attractive than the Russian women, even out of shape, but they command their women what to do and when to do it

Once these Russian women become westernized, after a few years they start behaving more like western women and divorce their Russian husbands

What this all comes down to is that western society is essentially poison to long term relationships, marriage, and fertility rates. Divorce rates are now above 80% in much of California and The birth rate is now so low that if it wasn’t for immigration our population would be going extinct.

We are a much more advanced society in most regards to places like Russia, but for some reason gender dynamics, family, and relationships have been sacrificed. Likely due to the mentally Ill woke mind virus, feminism, and gynocentrism present everywhere

Most couples seem very looksmatched to me. Truth be told, I don't think most girls are demanding supermodel type guys while being average themselves.
