You didn't give a good reason for why it shouldn't be allowed, you just gave a reason for why YOU wouldn't like it.

I'm not a fan of men abandoning their children, but I'm even less of a fan of saying "NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO", because if a couple both agree that the father shouldn't have anything to do with the child, I think they should have the freedom to decide that for themselves.

ie - my dad was a piece of shit who skipped out on child support. Mother fucker was so dedicated to being a terrible father that he worked under the table my entire childhood to avoid his wages being garnished. When I turned 18 and he wasn't required to pay anymore, he suddenly showed up (after being gone for like 10 years) and asked mom to forgive ALL the back pay he owed me.

She did. I'm fine with it. It's too late now for him to ever contribute to my future, and in turn I haven't bothered to communicate with him for about 20 years now. If I get a call saying he's dying in the hospital, I'm gonna let him die alone.

There's no sense in forcing people to stay connected if they don't want to.

I don't agree with people abandoning their kids, but the first point in particular is a poor one. It is not necessarily a bad thing for the parent(s) to take a "lifestyle" hit while they are raising children. It's about the kids primarily, and if mum or dad need to tone things down for a few years, that is not a negative.

That's an usual arguments against abortion: "You could have used protection". Maybe you agree. Maybe you don't. But there's a tendency where only men have to be responsible for their actions, that that's too obvious, and there's no complex discussion about it. When women are irresponsible, it's "well... see... things are complex... it's not convenient right now... it's not a living organism (unless I want the child / want it to be)... ".

Takes 2 to make a child, 2 (arguably) to fund it, but only 1 person has the final decision. This isn't fair at all. Financial abortion evens the fairness without encroaching on a woman's autonomy.

So I as a woman can make the exclusive decision to terminate the life of mine and another persons child, but they as a man have no voice in financially supporting said child if I choose to let the child live? How is that “fair”? It took two people to create the child so unless you want the male contributor to have equal say in the abortion decision as well, I don’t understand the logic in saying it would only be fair if he equally wouldn’t have a say in his financial obligations.

Also, the mom not only has the exclusive power to end the pregnancy (without the fathers input), but she also has the ability to end her own financial obligation to the child by placing them up for adoption or leaving the baby with a safe haven. (In many circumstances also without the father’s consent.)

The woman at that point can abort, so it then becomes her choice to become a single mom or not

Counterpoint, if a male financially contribute to the raising of a child, then it would imply that said male should also have a say in how said child is raised (especially if the reasoning that it's his genetic component that's the basis of his financial obligations). Quite frankly you do not want the input of those types of males who have to be coerced to fulfil their financial obligations.

Protection can fail. Men shouldn't be punished by at least 18 of financial slavery for an accident that could have been easily fixed by abortion. If abortion is legal of course and the rules should somewhat mirror rules for abortion

“Financial abortion” Is a terrible term for legal parental surrender. It has nothing to do with abortion.
In the event of conception, women have several means by which they can legally opt out of parenthood. Equality demands men should have at least one means as well.
I find it very hypocritical that some women argue they should have reproductive rights, but men should only have reproductive obligations.

Children should ideally have state provided income that pays for any is only used for their needs. Plenty of parents of both genders suck and don't support their children.

This shouldn't be a factor in child support. Outside of being raped she chose to have sex and risk a pregnancy. Outside of banned abortion she chose to give birth. She chose to keep it. She, as all parents do, are choosing to have and keep a child knowing the financial hit they will take from it.

It's in the best interest of children for unmarried women to not get knocked up, but that's not stopping them from risking pregnancy. The onus for parental responsibility and the best interest of the child can't fall on one side while we ignore all of the irresponsible decisions of the mother that led to their creation too.

Not sure how I feel about point #2. If you believe that then it should also take two people to decide if the child will be aborted or not. By your logic both the man and woman would have to agree to an abortion before it can happen.

I'm actually split on this. On the one hand, men should have to pay for their kids, and deadbeat dads deserve to get fucked over. On the other hand, what if you follow all the precautions and still get a woman pregnant and she wants to keep it? Suddenly you have to pay a big chunk of your paycheque. It's not your fault. You did everything right. You're still on the hook. I feel that's unfair as fuck. I go back and forth on this.

All of that being said, something that bothers me is how you said that being a single mom is expensive. While that is true, it's also a CHOICE (assuming you have access to abortion facilities). So that reason has no validity to me.

The best argument against financial abortion: it raises the taxes of hardworking and responsible people. If it were implemented, I would have to support a plethora of kids, brought about by impulsive men and naïve women, and I don't want to do that. The current system (somewhat) shields me from that, but I want the shields to be better and not worse.

The third one is the point. Most of these women shouldn’t be having kids in the first place. If it’s not two people who aren’t into each other, who both agree they want kids and can financially can support them they shouldn’t have kids. It would also incentivize women to be as picky as men must be on who they have kids with. And it would incentivize couples to stay together and pick better partners to guarantee the happening.
