Neither should male-only spaces, but those are so rare.

Let’s start with women-only gyms. I’m talking only about western societies, because that’s where I’m from, and that’s what I know. There are no good arguments in favor of them

  • “right to free association” - doesn’t cover discrimination
  • “religious fundamentalists don’t feel comfortable exercising around men” - you’re living in the west. Assimilate to western gender norms. You don’t get to bring unenlightened (misandrist, homophobic, etc…) views here and then use them to discriminate against us
  • “it’s safer” - no, it isn’t. No one is going to SA someone in a gym. Most SA is from people you know, not strangers. I don’t personally know any woman who has been. Also, SA is just as likely to be female-on-male as it is male-on-female. I am against SA, but I don’t like how it is frequently portrayed as something that is mostly done by men to women.

There shouldn’t be women’s only shelters, either. Shelters should be for all who need them. It’s wrong to discriminate based on gender.

I am not a fan of sororities, to put it mildly, but there are also fraternities, which I am much more okay with, so to me, that’s like men’s and women’s restrooms - understandable and doesn’t really bother me.

Nor should women’s only professional networking organizations be allowed to exist. They should be required by law to either be open to both genders or disband. When I hear a woman is a member of one, it gives me reason to suspect she’s a misandrist. There is no reason for them to exist. Women do better in the professional world than men nowadays.

The same is true on the internet. Let’s look at some subs.

VindictaRateCelebs - women-only for no good reason. They just want to be exclusionary. Didn’t they learn “sharing is caring” and “you can’t say you can’t play” in pre-school? Men rating celebs wouldn’t negatively impact the sub at all

Chickflixxx - women-only for no good reason. Men like that kind of content too, and women comment in adult-oriented subs that are geared at men ALL THE TIME

adhdwomen- first of all, since when do women have ADHD? In all my 26 years of living, I’ve only ever met men who had it. Second of all, there’s no good reason to exclude men from that sub. Men can have partners, daughters, mothers, sisters, friends, etc…with ADHD

There is no good reason for a sub to be women-only. Even a sub about vagina health (yes, I’m a man and I said vagina. Get over it, ladies, you say penis all the time. Double standards are never okay), there could be male gynos, or men who had a similar experience with their gf or wife’s vagina.

In an ideal world, no one would be excluded because of their gender. However, in the west, men are constantly excluded because of our gender and women almost never are. I wish they understood how it felt. I’m just asking for empathy and to be treated fairly and not discriminated against. I want a world without gender discrimination. Currently, the gender discrimination in the society I live in is almost exclusively against males (see: selective service registration). If I lived in a misogynistic society, I would be advocating for females.
