My Mother is planning on divorcing my Father. For 30 years they've been married. He has worked his ass off that whole time. Sometimes in 4 weeks on, 1 week off, type jobs. Sometimes working 90 hours per week. He's usually made 6 figures.

My Mother on the other hand has never worked since they got married, until a year ago she got a low-paying, unskilled job. Before that, she spent most of her day pursuing her hobbies, although always made sure to have dinner on the table when my Father got home.

Three months ago, my Father lost his job, and has been unable to find another one. My Mother is fed up with this arrangement, is sick of having to work "over 30 hours a week" (whilst still making less than quarter of what he made).

"He reckons that he worked for 30 years while I didn't provide at all, so 3 months is not a big deal. Did he forget about raising the children and cooking him dinner every night?". I wondered if it was worth pointing out that she didn't raise my brother and I, we essentially raised each other while she was off with her hobbies.

I'm worried about my Father. He is very skilled at his job, but the industry (skilled manufacturing) is dead in this country. I wonder how many other men are in similar positions, also having their women planning to leave as soon as the cash dries up?
