The problem with this post is that it feels like she's compensating for something but otherwise I think there's nothing wrong about the post.

I'm adopting a more minimalist lifestyle and I could do without more material things. My man buys me presents and flowers for occasions and it's great, cos it shows he values me and remembers. But I'm not too particular about insisting that he buys certain things (designer brands) or often to pamper me because it's not financially sound.

I think there's value in the original poster because there's different love languages. Maybe to some receiving gifts are not their main, or perhaps because of lifestyle choices like mine , we prefer love to be shown in other ways.

For example, my partner drives to spend time at my place (we're on lockdown now) despite his busy schedule, instead of the other way round. I don't have a car. Even though I have more free time, he says he wouldn't want me to risk getting exposure on public transport. He remembers me wanting certain food and hunts them down for me. He expresses his love and affection in non-sexual ways when we spend time together.

What's not fine is not having any gifts, when you want one and you're envious of girls who do, pretending you're totally fine about it. That's the tone I get from this post "I don't get presents like the rest of you and I'm cool with it cos I'm a cool gf". It's like she's virtue signalling or compensating for something.
