So I’ve been out of the dating scene for almost two years now. After finding FDS, I decided to deactivate all my OLD profiles and just focus and love myself. So when an acquaintance asked me out last week, I was surprised but wasn’t opposed to it.

He started off decently. He invited me to a restaurant I had mentioned in passing that I wanted to go to, confirmed the date and time, and mentioned that he will be making a reservation — all in the span of 10 minutes. He offered to pick me up on his motorcycle but I declined as I wasn’t comfortable with riding with a literal stranger and told him I will be taking the public transport. He sent me screenshots of the bus services that leads to the restaurant, even though I was already looking at them at my end. It surprised me because in all my years dating, this was the first time someone had managed to meet the bare minimum. I tried not to be impressed as FDS always reminds us to vet, vet, vet.

Of course he dropped his mask 3 days before the date. We were supposed to meet this Thursday evening but this morning he texted, stating that there were no available slots for the timing we wanted and if it’s okay with me if we were to try our and walk in. I was surprised because firstly, he told me he did the booking last week, and secondly, I wasn’t about to travel 1.5 hours without a reservation. What if the restaurant is crowded? Would he have attempted a walk date? That would be a waste of my time. Something also seemed off.

So I checked the restaurant website and lo and behold, I found that there were available time slots for the whole evening for this Thursday! I screenshot the page and asked if he really checked the website. He said yeah. I sent him the screenshot and pretended to be surprised at the slots available. He actually can tell me “I was just at the website”!! We haven’t even met and he had already lied to me. His tone was callous and he made no follow up to continue with the reservation.

If this had happened to me pre-FDS, I would’ve given him the benefit of the doubt and maybe even offer to make the booking instead. Post-FDS me however, decided not to give him any more of my time.
