I remember watching a documentary about the making of Disney's Tangled, and when creating Flynn Rider they wanted him to be the most attractive love interest Disney had created yet, so they held a "hot man meeting" where they asked every female employee to be very specific about their ideal "hot man" and all the male employees got very offended 😂

However.. women don't just use visual cues. I dug out some research last year that showed women can't get enough info from still images to decide if a guy is hot or not. Also need to hear them speak and watch them move.

If you consider women's voted lists of hottest men, you get actors and singers. Very rarely male models.

Men's top hottest lists are about half models.

If anyone wants I'll look for it.

We're definitely visual, but there's usually not much for us to look at... 99.9% of sexualization in the media is of women for the benefit of the male gaze. Where are the sexualized men for us to look at? I want to be catered to by the media for once, dammit!

I don't like men sweating and mouth-breathing on me during sex. Men also store fat differently than women. So if a man is visibly out of shape, he's doing way worse on the inside than the outside. Don't date a guy who is gonna die at 45.

After watching Life in Color on Netflix (1st episode) I'm baffled at how little males actually do in the human species to impress females. I guess it's supposed to be nice cars and money? This picture shows what is probably many women’s “ideal” amount of muscle, while lots of guys end up getting waaaaay too muscular. Men go to the gym to get fit to attract women, and then end up competing with the other men there to get bigger and bigger, until they end up alienating most women.

Thank you! Men have to be culturally trained to try to be visual people and it doesn’t work all the way. Most of their arousal comes from faces, eye tracking shows them focusing on faces. It’s cultural training, not innate biology they try to hide under! I swear, this is why I keep a list of DOIs for the next man to try to mansplain “biology” and “logic” to me
