Men do this because they have no intention of being the primary caregiver. He gets to continue his genes while the woman gets to take care of a new born and an elderly old man. I can't imagine being the parent of an infant in my 60s. I went to college with a guy who father was in his 60s when he was born. Of course his father was dead by then.

My father was a lot older than my mother. He was barely involved in raising me (he lived in the home but didn’t do any domestic labor, because that was common for his generation) and then he died when I was college-aged. At this point I honestly don’t remember him that well. So… goals! /s

Why does the text imply that because she is in her late 20’s she no longer needs a dad?! I’m in my late 20’s and I’d be shattered if I lost one of my parents. I’m not married yet. I haven’t had kids yet. My mom is in her 50’s my dad is in his 60’s. I have so many more memories to make with my parents. (Unless, God Forbid, a terrible emergency happens). If you want to be a parent again in your 60’s, you need to adopt an older child. It’s selfish to try to have a newborn in your 60’s.

I love how the comments in the article are missing the point. Everyone deserves love at every age, but when your grandchildren are older than your partner, there's something wrong. You're not going to grow old together, you're going to be around for maybe 10 more years, then die and leave her to raise the child herself which the rest of the family argues over the inheritance.

Why are they not dating women their own age Are you telling me there's just no single woman in her 60s or 70s? Just absolutely ZERO women who lost a spouse, never married, or recently divorced? We need to call out these men and shame them. We could even get the men on board by saying, "why are you applauding this behavior? He is taking good women from your generation." I hate it when old people decide to have (more) children. I mean, the guy is 61. By the time his youngest child will start university, he'll be around 80 - if he's still alive by then. Which is a big if.

How twisted in the mind you have to think this is normal?? You can't say that a man chasing a very young woman is "young at heart", more like immature. You can still do fun activities with people your own age. Grandchildren shouldn't compete for the attention of their grandparent with his newborn. When a couple decides to have children it matters very much the age gaps/spacing . It's very important to take into consideration the age spacing between siblings because they manifest emotionally, intellectual etc differently. I think those dynamics apply in a relationship between a man and a woman too. Certain age gaps bring certain difficulties and different values and I find it unatural to have a uncle/or a aunt your own age.Would you listen to a stepmom your own age?
