Nice! I won't be expected to just pay 100% of the bill anymore!!

No, the answer you are looking for is "no."

[–]magor1988 66 points67 points68 points 10 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link

I've dated outside my politics before. It's only worth it if the relationship isn't serious. If you're looking at spending the rest of your life with someone... just not worth it, at least for me. I'm way too poltically active to just ignore it as a topic of conversation for the rest of my life.

[–]BrosenkranzKeef 17 points18 points19 points 10 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

But I'm a libertarian which means that women hate me.

[–]SSapplejack 19 points20 points21 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm a libertarian woman, I don't hate you ! but women hate me too so ..

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women everywhere hate her!

[–]questionnmark 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm an egalitarian, so I upvoted both of you equally.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Tryna date as a libertarian, people think you're batshit crazy.

[–]BrosenkranzKeef 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"So how do you feel about politics, are you conservative or liberal?"

"I............ugh. Check please."

[–]perverted_alt 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I learned long ago that libertarians piss off everyone, except when they are already angry...then they're you're best friend.

Talking to people as a libertarian during an election year is brutal.

After their shills get into office and start F'ing up, it's not so bad.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah I agree buddy. I'm also libertarian, and i've noticed it tends to piss people off. I try to be pragmatic when talking politics, as I do not believe theres a revolution in the name of liberty in the near future but it still seems to piss people off by association.

[–]perverted_alt 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't know, I see the current parties moving fast and hard to a European two party system.

It seems like we might as well start calling them Socialists and Nationalists instead of Democrats and Republicans.

There are a lot of people that don't fit into those molds. It's getting wild out here man.

[–]Lanoir97 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women hate me too, but that's less to do with the Libertarian part I bet. A woman told me the other day that I was worse than the guy the raped her because I figured out she liked me.

[–]emperorhirohito 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

"the wage gap" is not 'politics'. It's a myth that only very unintelligent people believe in.

[–]Alarid 13 points14 points15 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

No, it's a statistics problem that's only relevant if you understand what it is actually representing.

[–]nuesuh 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

It's people that doesn't understand the difference between "wage", "salary" and what "supply and demand" means, that has stirred up a shitstorm.

[–]forntonio 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Care to enlighten someone who doesn't know the difference between the two?

[–]nuesuh 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Wage is how much you're paid in relation to your work. That might be time, of numbers of X produced.

Salary is how much money you make over a time period. Per day, per month, per year.

30 USD/hour = Wage. 58k USD a year = salary.

Both are, essentially the same. The difference being that the salary can be affected in many ways. If you work more or less, is more or less productive is going to affect your salary.

More or less qualified and your work has better or worse quality. That is going to affect your wage.

[–]forntonio 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Ah, thanks for explaining!

False accusations of domestic violence as a tactic in the property settlement guy here.

I knew where I was sticking it, I just didn't fully understand the true implications of "crazy".

I tried to reason with "crazy", you see. I grossly underestimated the human capacity for betrayal.

Do not contract a crazy, fake names and such. TRP probably has actual advice on this.

[–]JebberJabber 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

So is TRP for people who think cruel lies to romantic partners are OK so long as you secretly define them as crazy first?
Or do they just lie to anyone whenever it suits them?

Given the choice between the two I might date the one who expresses their politics with a playful app. I wouldn't date a liar.

Couples with different politics can work fine, I have done it a few times and know of many others. My wife and her friends thought I was a nazi. We got on fine personally.

[–]WaitingToBeBanned 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

TRP is for people who do not want to be stalked and stabbed by crazy women. Oh, and looser virgins who do not want to be looser virgins.

I have a very similar story. And a mutual restraining order.

[–]perverted_alt 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"I'm suicidal so I want to ruin your life too"

I'll be honest. I'm not sure I've ever known a woman that didn't want you to feel the same way she was feeling all the time.

Because she had extreme emotions she tried to drag you into an extreme place too I guess.

[–]SexistFlyingPig 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It can get SO much worse than this. False rape charges are the teeny tiniest tip of the don't-stick-your-dick-in-crazy iceberg

[+]4ringcircus -13 points-12 points-11 points 10 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

You think this is like a normal thing that happens on the reg?

[–]CyberToyger 13 points14 points15 points 10 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

  • I say go ahead and stick your dick in crazy. What's the worst that can happen?

  • False rape charges.

  • You think this is like a normal thing that happens on the reg?

With women? No. With crazy, as the commenter you replied to was specifying? Yes.

Either False Rape charges or framed for Domestic Violence by giving themselves bruises and scratches then going to the police. On occasion, they'll poke holes in your condoms to try and get prgenant. Those are standard tactics for crazy; the less violent ones at least. The more violent ones will hit you and even go so far as to stab you.

[+]4ringcircus -11 points-10 points-9 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Well, ok, but no one is forced to hang out with people that are that unstable. People that act this way aren't exactly around every corner either. You kind of have to actively put yourself in such a shitty situation and there are usually a shit ton of warning signs along that entire path.

I just think it is weird how some people talk about the topic as though it happens as regularly as the sunrise.

[–]ulthrant82 10 points11 points12 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Haven't been out much, have you?

[+]4ringcircus -7 points-6 points-5 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Yes, I have. I don't spend my life in eternal fear of women.

[–]Pittshadowrunner 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

So you agree that men have reason to fear women then? And by extension, women have power?

[–]CyberToyger 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's easy to recognize someone who's unstable once you've become an adult, survived a relationship with one, or aren't infatuated with one. Teenagers and horny college students not so much.

People talk about it regularly because it does happen regularly. It isn't because "so many women are crazy", it's because the crazy ones are the most sexually active, and horny teenage and college guys go after sexually active girls. Statistically speaking, you're more likely to wind up with a crazy if sex is the main/prominent force behind your attraction.

[–]VicisSubsisto 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So, what you're saying is... Don't stick your dick in crazy.

[–]such-a-mensch 17 points18 points19 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

A kid. A kid with a crazy chick is the worst that can happen. Jail is less emotionally draining.

[–]ulthrant82 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. In jail at least you'll have some alone time. Have a kid with crazy and she'll use you for nothing but a babysitter and a paycheque. For. 18. Goddamn. Years.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

vasectomy is a good vaccination against this

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]apierson2011 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I've gone back and forth on the issue of the wage gap, and am still largely undecided, but I think John Green makes a decent case for it in his vlogbrothers video. The research he cites seems convincing to me. What do you think?

[–]flyingwolf 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The pay gap is bullshit, it has been proven to be bullshit over and over, what more do you want?

[–]wzil 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes. But don't go past dating and keep your eyes open for someone better. Kinda like the advice that the best time to get a new job is when you have one already, even if you don't like it.

[–]Gnometard 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes because they're typically very easy lays.

[–]goalposthead 373 points374 points375 points 10 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

Wrong on so many levels. There is already a fair way to split the bill. It's called pay for what you order and consume. What is complicated about that?

[–][deleted] 146 points147 points148 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

But, but, but, the wemyns dont have as much money because of patriarchy and oppression and....reasons. Its not a fair playing field, so they shouldn't have to pay as much.

[–]RaptorFalcon 70 points71 points72 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Since I am an unmarried male, I shouldn't have to pay as much as a married couple for a house!

I'll take one mansion please and here is my pocket change

I don't even mind treating people to meals but I wouldn't deal with someone who expected it.

*This app is just as bad in that regard but it's even worse because it's blatantly sexist/racist.

[–]Archibald_Andino 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Plus men force them to buy expensive cometics and the more expensive pink razors.

[–]Grasshopper21 13 points14 points15 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This is one that I've never understood. Women's razors are legitimately twice the price of men's, and I know my razor definitely works better than my gf's.

[–]the-tominator 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My ex used men's razors because they're better and cheaper. Why can't many women just do that, and not insist on having a pink one? Then the price of the pink ones would fall anyway. It's just the same reason why some types of smartphone are more expensive in white (or whatever rarer colour), it's simply because many people ARE prepared to pay more to get a product in its non-default colour. Not only will many women pay more for a pink razor, but many people will pay more for a white phone, people who like the colour blue will pay more for a blue laptop and so on...

It's just called personal choice. Combined with basic economics.

Price is simply what the majority of the target market are prepared to pay. People spend crazy money on total crap quite often, or pay 10x the price to have a certain brandname written on their t-shirt, or pay 2x the price to have a fruit on your laptop or many times more for an 'ugg' on your boots. Or pay insanely more money to have a new car - one that as soon as you drive off the forecourt will loose half its value instantly - which is especially true for Mercedes. They are very expensive new but pretty cheap even just a couple of years old.

[–]Grasshopper21 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To be perfectly honest many women dont realize that men's razors are more effective. They see the higher price and think better quality

[–]Jager720 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 41 points42 points43 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

The bigger crime is that someone wasted their coding skills on making this app.

[–]hemsae 18 points19 points20 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I believe that this app was originally written as satire. But apparently it's more profitable to be serious about it.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To be fair, I can't fault the guy for seeing a way to exploit dumbfuckery and make money out of it. The "oppressed" dumbasses will lap this shit up.

[–]My_Big_Fat_Kot 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Nah, not much skill went into this app. I high school kid can code this entire app within two or three hours, with a basic gui and any language.

I don't care that they wasted their skills on coding this because you don't need that much skill to begin with to make this.

[–]existentialdude 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Even if it tool 15 minutes to code, the time is better used elsewhere.

[–]SoundOfDrums 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You get that personal responsibility bullshit out of here son.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, I'd ask for my own check if some bimbo used this app..

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That is the only acceptable way to split the bill.

[–]bitchessuck 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You can also split evenly according to the number of people, though. It's common in some countries.

[–]ChaosOpen 151 points152 points153 points 10 years ago (27 children) | Copy Link

Problem: different people order different things. If I got a $20 plate of hot wings(leftovers ftw) I am not paying for a majority of the bill when you got $70 worth of food because you wanted an appetizer, ribeye, and chocolate mousse dessert.

[–][deleted] 178 points179 points180 points 10 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

How dare you suggest that people's choices have any bearing on how they should be treated. What I put in my mouth is my own damn business. Quit eat-shaming me.

[–]ChaosOpen 42 points43 points44 points 10 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

"Just because I didn't go to work doesn't mean I shouldn't be paid for it. I suggest up to 3 days paid leave for periods, which only women can use, that way we can over a month of paid days off plus whatever sick and vacation days we have."

[–]gellis12 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

Wait, is that actually a thing? That sort of thing would never fly in high school, why do they expect it to happen when they get into the real world?

[–]eXeHijaKer 15 points16 points17 points 10 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

It's happening in the UK, i read in the newspapers here in Denmark about some UK company making "Menstruation Pains" a valid reason to go home, and get paid "sick leave" which wouldn't be considered actual sick leave.

[–]gellis12 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

I can understand wanting to use normal sick days for it, but extra time for periods? Fuck that. Guys don't get extra time off when our balls itch.

[–]garglemesh42 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well maybe we should! /s

[–]gellis12 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'd be cool with getting a paid 15 minute break whenever I wanted!

[–]ZMaiden 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

ummm, I'm a staunch mra. but, your balls itch is no way similar to what I go through. I have Endometriosis, I have cycles where I literally can not leave my bed. Imagine you felt like you had to take a massive dump all day, felt like someone had spent all day punching you in your groin, plus you are severely fatigued, you have the headache from hell, your upper thighs are a mass of pure tension pain, your back is agonizing, and you have to go throught that all day for a week.

[–]Lucius_Martius 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

In my opinion it doesn't matter where your illness comes from (even if it was, let's say, psychosomatic) but if you do not feel able to work you should not work. It's your responsibility to do everything to get better and it's the companies responsibility to give you the time to do that (within reason).

But then I am only a German, as which I enjoy quasi-unlimited sick-leave which does not need to be justified to the employer (only to a doctor), so that's an easy opinion to hold for me.

Americans and UK citizens on the other hand get to enjoy their burnout after a few decades of two weeks per year sick-leave (or else) and two weeks of holidays per year. And instead of demanding more and a fairer system from the government and companies they get envious at each other and demand others getting less. I'll never understand these people.

[–]ZMaiden 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

you have the right of it. we shouldn't have to be arguing to validate why we're too sick to work. But in the US, we do. So you get crazy things like this.

[–]ZMaiden 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

you have the right of it. we shouldn't have to be arguing to validate why we're too sick to work. But in the US, we do. So you get crazy things like this.

[–]gellis12 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Endometriosis is not the same as just having a period. I 100% agree that if you have a legitimate medical reason (like you do), that you should be given medical leave for that. In fact, that's the law up here in Canada.

But mild discomfort once a month? No, that does not warrant 3 days of paid vacation every other pay period.

[–]ZMaiden 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

yeah, but what I experience is not rare. 10-20 percent of women have endo. and even without endo, most women experience much more than just "ball itch" discomfort during their periods. I don't know what the right answer is, I'm just saying, mild discomfort during a period is the fairy tale for women, not the norm. If men had a biological disorder that happened every month I'd be saying the same thing. People always say on here, men and women are biologically different, so you gotta accept this might just be a difference that might be true on face value.

When I was in school, 100% of the girls in my classes were about to tough it out for their periods, because they knew skipping 3 days of classes wouldn't fly.

People always say on here, men and women are biologically different

That's correct. However, biological differences don't earn paid time off. If you want to take 3 days of unpaid vacation when you have a period, that's reasonable. But getting an extra 3 days of paid vacation every month because a body function that you were able to live with in school is suddenly too much to bear for half a week? Fuck no, that's retarded.

Edit: Also, You seem to be a bit mistaken with your numbers:

10-20 percent of women have endo.

According to wikipedia, the actual number is 6-10%, with only about half of those women actually experiencing any pain from it. Sorry that you have it, looks like you were just dealt a shitty hand.

You're right. But in our worker culture, you could have the flu and still have to argue with your boss to validate your sick leave. Even if you work with food! Plus, you can easily call your boss and say, I'm vomiting can't leave the bathroom, and he might excuse you. Imagine having to say, well I'm on my period and it hurts so bad I can't leave the bathroom floor. No man really believes you when you say that. Plus it's super embarrassing to talk about periods out loud.

http://www.today.com/health/britain-s-coexist-offer-flexible-period-policy-women-painful-cycles-t77941

It's more of the ability to make up the time missed so as not to have to use sick leave on period pain, a flexible time arrangement similar to what is extended to a staff member in their company with migraines. One could take a day off and make up the hours at another time, so that there is no need to sit through back to work interviews and meetings on taking too much sick leave.

[–]eXeHijaKer 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Ah, seems like they explained it horribly in the Newspaper then.. Because that wasn't what was written there.. It was basically "Women can go home when they have period pains, it won't count as sick leave, and we'll pay them just as if they'd been at work"

If they split the bill then yeah. But if she wanted to "rely on this app to do do it fairly" then I would be paying $55.36 while she pays $34.64 and change.

Because it would be added together($90) then split down the middle, then it would be moved over so that she is only paying 77% of her share and you paid the excess. So, 0.77 * 45 = 34.64; 45 - 34.64 = 10.36; 10.36 + 45 = 55.36

There's a fundamental mistake in the assumption behind this app. That being "why would your friends pay your bill for you?".

If you want to tell the restaurant you're only paying 68% of your bill because the patriarchy, fine...good luck with that. But I'll be paying my own bill and leaving before the cops arrive.

Next time you're at Target or any department store, stop a second and do a quick survey of how much of that store is women's products.

What's interesting is they don't have to label anything as "women's", because by default everything is. There's "sweaters" and "sportwear" and "underwear" and these are all women's. Then there's "men's (everything a man could put on his body from sunglasses to hats to jeans to underwear to suspenders)".

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When I was broke my GF tended to pick up a bigger slice of the bill e.g. by handing over a note that was more than half before I paid, or asking for a note that is less than half when she paid, or just picking up the whole bill occasionally.

The app is just a funny way of publicising a political view, I don't expect people would use it seriously.

Essentially the times that women do get paid less they are getting compensated instead for having more "temporal flexibility" (i.e., flexible schedules). Even when they work the same number of hours, men get paid to work the shitty hours and are compensated for it.

People that want to have flexible schedules AND get paid like those who don't are people who want to have their cake and eat it, too.

So did anyone bother to see it's a joke? It was presented a comedy contest. http://equitableapp.com/

[–]Mitschu 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, it's a joke, just as much as Swift's Modest Proposal was satire. I don't think anyone is arguing against that. What we're arguing about is the public's reception of it.

Now, if poor people had actually started selling their children for the wealthy to eat, "it was just a joke" wouldn't fly any more for Swiftians, no matter how earnestly it was cried.

It's sort of the same parallel here. The original app was a joke submission in a comedy contest, with such tongue-in-cheekisms as "affirmative fractions" and "reparations, one meal at a time."

The mainstream response has been an unironic embrace of the concept, a modern gluttonous cry of "an app that finally lets us buy other people's children to use as gourmet ingredients!?! YAAAAAAY! WE'VE NEEDED THIS!"

The only difference between Swift's era and ours, is that people back then at least had enough decency and sense to either recognize the satire and the meaning behind it, or at least be outraged at what they thought was a macabre and serious suggestion. Nowadays, we'd literally eat our own in the name of progressivism.

[–]tramareddit111 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It would serve as an analog where high producers who are required to pay more (whether it be higher proportion of the meal cost or higher proportion of the tax base) than they consume are disincentivized and will eventually opt out leaving only lower producers at the table without the ability to fully cover the bill. Socialism only works if someone is willing to pay more than their fairshare. If you always have salad, you will eventually get tired of paying for someone else's steak, just because you make more money.

[–]conspiracy_thug 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Or.. You know...

Pay for what you eat?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So they lie and made an app to propagate said lie? Neat.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This seems really fucking racist as well. wtf.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If we are splitting the tab lets just pay for our own fucking food

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When you cannot tell apart irony and truth it is a fair sign a movement has gone crazy... So is this a joke?

[–]vhisic 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Let's see I had the lobster you had a glass of water, my app says because you are white and a male you owe $70 and I owe $0.

[–]slayerx1779 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

From what I've heard, the app dev was just making a joke with it.

Now that it seems popular, they're going through with it.

I assume.

[–]JebberJabber 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is popular as a joke.

[–]Kronik_NinjaLo 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Will it take into account that my girlfriend gets paid twice what I do?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"According to the Institute of Women's Policy Research, women in America won't be paid as much as men for the same work for another 100 or so years."

That doesn't sound biased at all

[–]perverted_alt 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I approve of this app. It's just one more tool I can use to identify worthless pieces of sh#t to avoid like the plague.

It's like a tribal tattoo on the face. Thanks for the warning.

[–]oddMahnsta 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah if a girl ever pulls this out and starts trying to justify an uneven split of the bill, in her favor, then i say fuck that

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If I eat with a group and one of them suggests this, I probably will suddeny have to go to the bathroom never to return.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha

[–]antilock 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol what's the fair share of nothing? The majority of women I've dated haven't paid shit for the first few dates

[–]Lowkeypeepee 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Fuck huffing ton post for even giving credence to this shit.

[–]yourlogicisflawed 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fuck huffington post for even giving credence to this shit.

[–]LarryLove 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Separate checks please

[–]Relaxed_Meat 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How would the app gain your info? If its self entered then for the purposes of the app I would be a young minority who works in fast food.

[–]flyfarfaraway 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Huffington Post = The Onion?

[–]Endless_Summer 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I can't decide if this is more racist or more sexist...

[–]supermoore83 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes

[–]legalizehazing 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's stunning how oblivious they are to reality.

[–]UnicornCan 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Or you can pay for your own fucking food

[–]jam_tooth92 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good thing I only go out by myself

[–]Treasure_hand 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Funny how all my female friends make twice what I make working front desk positions and I'm in a factory operating very high load hydraulic presses, almost lost my hand to one last year. But they still make 25-30 per hour with minor experience in appointment and scheduling. I tried to get into those positions, but they only want females. Hmm......

[–]Treasure_hand -3 points-2 points-1 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But gues what, I don't give a shit.

[–]Princeso_Bubblegum -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't even understand why you need an app, do people not know how to do basic math anymore? Doing ratios and splitting the bill is like 6th grade math.

I am more pissed at the laziness of the app.

[–]Boogilywoo2 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't normally comment on the whole "beta" theme you see in TRP / MGTOW etc, but for fucks sake if you agree to this it fucking applies.

Maybe we should make an app that does the same thing by profession, age, marital status, etc instead.

Then people would be shown relevant information regarding earnings instead of stroking egos.

[–]Detox1337 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Some one should do a statistically corrected version of the app that pretty much just divides by the number of people within a few percentage points.

[–]CaptainTeaBag24I7 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Finally, an app that splits the bill so that white men pay more.....

[–]derangedkilr 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

privilege points.

[–]dan7899 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What the living fuck.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

lmao id sue

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You pay your shit, i pay my shit. What´s wrong about that? Not my fault you just ate too expensive for you.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The great part about this app is that if someone wants to then they don't have to give a crap about it.

[–]Proteus_Marius 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Kept looking at their site hoping to find out that it's a joke app.

No luck.

[–]Mikesapien 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It started as a joke, but Poe's Law took over.

[–]heimdahl81 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Except where it says "Winner of Cultured Wit's Comedy Hack Day 10".

[–]Santaball 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My God that has to be the onion lol.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I love this quote from the official site of the app

Using Bureau of Labor Statistics data and maths, EquiTable calculates how much you should pay for dinner. A fun discussion starter!

[–]Levy_Wilson 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Facebook page called "Miss Representation"

If it talks like a Poe and looks like a Poe, it's probably a Poe.

[–]mrstickman 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You know, I'm familiar with the idea that we can tell there isn't a wage gap by the way nobody is leveraging it for profit.

...Technically, that's not true any more.

[–]prometheuspk 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This was a joke app. Y'all need to start reading.

[–]goodeyesniper3221 -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

bahahah or go fuck yourself I'll pay for my portion and you can pay for yours! stupid fucking liberals.

[–]Mikesapien 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

stupid fucking liberals feminists

This idea is collectivist and authoritarian – two fundamentally illiberal traits.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

See what would make this neat would be "Put in your biweekly income" and then it splits the bill proportionally based on that.

[–]Stephen1985 -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And its posted from an account called miss representation, how ironic.

[–]GoopyBoss -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hands down the dumbest fucking app EVER

[–]ScullyNess -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow.... facepalms

[–]PotatoDonki -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My god, this is infuriating.

[–]harryballsagna -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

All you need is an app that detects that app on someone's phone. Then excuse yourself before dessert and dip with all your money caked with PoC sweat to your Rolls Royce, aka "The Privilege Mobile".

[–]YOjulian -4 points-3 points-2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminism is crap. It's a gendered term. It can't mean equality.

[–]the6crimson6fucker6 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Equality!
