I’m currently living in the Philippines and yes the cultural norms with relationships here can be difficult. They are extremely family minded and if you marry a girl here you’re marrying her entire family. This means they also expect you to support them all financially. Sorry but not going to happen.

Based on personal experience in South Korea and Colombia, the cultural and social expectations are simply non-existent for foreigners. They expect you to be an American. That's part of what makes dating feel like tutorial mode in these countries.

But how many passport bro's are actually prepared to fill the social and cultural expectations the women and the womens families have for them? Or hell just dealing with the prejudice that they will face.

This heavily depends on who I'm dating and what their expectations are. This varies widely even within a single city. It's not really that different than dating in the US. But I haven't lived in any super conservative or religious countries either.

I don't face any meaningful amounts prejudice abroad. People have stereotypes about different countries, but people stereotype me in the US based on different things too. None of it really matters though. I have people try to rip me off in touristic areas or cities, but that's mostly it. I've never lived anywhere particularly xenophobic.

I think there are a lot of stereotypes and misconceptions about living abroad (especially with dating) that people who haven't done it before fall into believing

All these sorts of questions can already be answered by looking at existing passport bros. The answer is that those things don't matter too much, they are hugely disproportionately successful overseas compared to the US.

Women imagine that foreign women will see these men as losers, or the men will fail in cultural adaption, or that their struggle here means they will struggle there, and so on.

Just look at the actual real world results. Almost all men do substantially better overseas.

My reasoning for passport bros, other than the financial aspect of it. Is the culture, thats not progressive, pushing feminism and pride, there are women who appreciate the gender balance and a man who has worked for his success, wants to build a family, a home and will allow a man to lead.

Let’s be real: the passport bro (the real ones: the ones that are actually out doing it) first choice wasn’t to be a passport bro. Go ask any teenager who likes girls and see how many go “I want to be a passport bro!” Vs how many daydream of being the ladies man/popular guy/chad/pornstar. Passport bros who are out passporting know they aren’t “living the dream”. They are trying to “make up for” the fact that their dating years haven’t gone well at all and they no longer care. They know they are scrambling at the outskirts and they know people are probably calling them “creepy, gross, exploitative, etc”. Hell they have probably been hearing it for a while. They don’t care: this is the last long shot chance of them getting an attractive partner/hookup/escort/ltr so they don’t end up looking as sad as Peterson or Rollo in their grey haired years. Or they are already there and this is the last best shot at not dying alone. How successful is it? Well you don’t end up on the passport bro route if you are just “too amazing” so let’s be realistic about the prospects.

The dudes online that defend passport bros? They don’t care about all that tho. Hell they probably look at those older unsuccessful dudes with a bit of disgust while thinking “that’s not gonna be me. I got the PUA/RP/alpha male/top g, system!”
But they know it’s easy trigger bait. So they try to act like this thing they’d never do is legit so they can try and “piss of the Womenz!” Online. Just like they all claim they’d “never pay for porn” yet somehow OnlyFans keeps raking it in.

Anecdotally, while racism and bigotry exists everywhere, it’s not as bad as Americans think it is in foreign countries. I cannot say I have seen the world, but in my brief travels, black men and African men have been able to date and set up families.

And if we’re being real the expectations are different in foreign countries compared to the US. You might say they’re less or just more straightforward and simpler.

I really can’t complain about the passport bro. Even with all the insults they direct at me (a woman born and raised in the US). When I see these dudes I’m like “welp I literally would not” so how can I be mad? I’m not willing to take in one of these dudes myself so they may as well go overseas. If the choice is being single and alone vs going overseas and finding someone I can’t fault them. I just wish they would keep “Western women” out of their mouths. I don’t need to be drug into this. Expectations are different for an outsider. They are not as strict, and everyone knows that when it is an intercultural couple, both will have to learn and adapt.

Never faced any prejudice. In the abstract some Western women get upset, but in reality never actually cares that much.

I hate being called a passport bro because not everything has to have a social media label, but that being said… I go to the Philippines often. Nobody really expect anything from me except just to be American. They don’t expect me to speak one of the languages. They don’t expect me to understand their money very well. They don’t even expect me to understand there traditions, or history. But they are super super happy to teach them. I love it there. The people are amazing and very friendly . I walk around people will wave hi to me, and in some cases even handmade gifts like little trinkets and things . It’s night and day from being in the west. It really made me realize how shitty we are to each other here.

Hmm well I want to retire to the philippines. I have heard they have a culture where the kids take care of their parents. I'm prepared to buy my future wife's parent's a house near the house I buy us. I'm prepared to become religious if needed. I'm prepared to being the sole breadwinner, and putting our future kids through university. I'm down for it being a life long commitment, no divorce, no cheating, sickness and health.

I am not looking for meaningful relationships with traditional foreign women and I have no desire nor intention of filling a foreign woman's image of a traditional man or a western sponsor. To a certain degree they do, but as expected there are no go zones. Example, it is not uncommon for women in Brazil to just walk around in the same attire as street whores do in America. So the guy may not like if she continues to do that and ask her to stop. But being fine with mostly everything else, including joining catholicism.

Or hell just dealing with the prejudice that they will face.

Not an issue as far as I've seen. Although the prejudice of Brazilian women is mostly a positive.
