Patterns can be observed and then used to your advantage when you figure it out. And human nature isn't actually random. People aren't that special, male or female. We tend to act in very predictable ways. And attraction isn't completely subjective or magical.

Because men are the ones who make the first move. Men are doing the pursuing, the approaching, risk rejection, etc. Dating is way more strategic and complex for men than it is for women.

They're too socially maladjusted to understand people in any real way so they default to statistics and convince themselves they know more than people who have actual normal dating lives.

They're tremendously dismissive of intangibles because they don't know how to fit them into their theory, and also because they don't want to admit the intangibles are a contributing factor to their lack of success. If "the spark" is purely about a guy being hot and rich, then not being able to find that with a woman isn't your fault. If intangibles matter, that excuse stops working the same way. Hot and rich is nice, and those things matter, but the intangibles matter too.

If you just scream "sHe'S nOt AtTrAcTeD" at every incompatibility complaint, you never have to think about whether those complaints are valid. You can just pull up some article about how women enjoy sex with hot people more (which is shocking and bad, apparently) and go back to not taking a single ounce of responsibility for your dating life.

Yes, it can, you just choose not to. I can measure exactly how much sex I have, the success rate of initiating/approaching, exactly how much resources I have invested in any given women to get that sex, etc. I remember a viral post some years ago with a man doing just that with an excel sheet documenting his sex life with his wife. You can choose to see dating as something else, but that is just your way of seeing it.

The entire point of it is to approximate what a larger population thinks. Is it completely right? No, but I would say it tries it’s best to be larger correct, otherwise we wouldn’t be using it.

If I say ALL WOMEN LIKE TALL MEN, I can’t say that cuz I can’t use stats to prove that.

But if I say MOST WOMEN LIKE TALL MEN, I can say that because I can show evidence of a unbiased sample size preference and then apply it to a larger population.

the dating world is dynamic and in all reality, doesn’t make the most sense. On top of this, interpersonal relationships are so individually driven - and while yes, generalities can be true to an extent and can explain an overall trend (though generalities, evo psych and stats should only really be used to study macro patterns rather than micro decisions - but that’s a whole other conversation) - we are talking about a subset of men who don’t particularly interact with the real world much, and are looking for any external reason to justify their mental/emotional state. There is also a hint of autism in that because dating in the real world is very dynamic, it can make some uncomfortable, so the reliance on this stuff is applying a set of “rules” to the world, even if said “rules” only exist to validate one’s emotional state

Well, the individual’s means of knowledge is reason, his rational faculty. It’s not faith/feelings/intuition/instinct. They don’t know how to use reason very well, particularly in morality but also with regards to what it means to be a man or a woman or dating. There’s a lot of irrational stuff out there and not a lot of reasonable stuff, so it’s easy to find stuff looks remotely rational and gives them the veneer of rationality.

Entirely random? Which positive traits do women not prefer? If we can categorize positive traits and rate them on a scale, then your argument loses effectiveness. It means that there is at least some predictability in dating. In fact, studies have repeatedly shown that socioeconomic status is a major predictor of mating success for men. The lower the socioeconomic status, the less likely he is to have any sexual partners at all. I don’t know if the inverse is equally true, but I would be willing to bet that it offers just as strong an indication of predictability

Your argument seems to be the premise of blue pill philosophy, that attraction is based on random encounters and emotions, and not cold hard “stats.” The reason red pill is so popular among men is because we are, you know, friends with each other. It’s easy to see who gets the most girls and what they have in common. Blue pill treats men as stupid animals, and it’s actually degrading I think
