Look at all the divorce stats and the average length of a relationships.

When people on ppd say women would rather be single what they are saying is by default women are content being alone. The relationship with a man is a bonus but not a pillar of life.

Since the US is usually a weird outlier in stats and it varies at state level. Let's talk about Europe, somewhere where there hasn't been arranged marriage in a long time nor the pressures to marry in the clan or ethnicity as you have in many parts of the world.

It's to the point that everyone you know is either divorced, separated or recently got together. Even older couples separate after their kids grow up to a certain age. Very rarely do you see people who have been together for decades by choice (finances).
