That's not just Disney pushing that narrative. That's like 90% mainstream media.

The formula is always the same.

Average guy is going about his life until some magic bullet happens to him and he gets "caught up" in some significant event. He gains the ability to save "all of existence" and ONLY after he successfully does so, THEN the "hot" girl likes him and they live happily ever after.

The main idea is that things simply "happen" on their own rather than the guy actively going out and making things happen himself. That's what it seems like anyway. It aligns perfectly with all of the generic BS dating advice guys get. "Just be yourself", "just be confident", etc.

Morality. What’s good according to the times. Take your examples; Hercules is a story of great strength. Something seen as good in ancient Greece, and arguably too still today. Simba made a mistake; then faced it head on. Alladin similarly started out a thief. Then transformed into a prince. All stories of good; prevailing over evil.

Another example is the first ever Disney classic Snow White. What traits where held up as good? Snow White is pure, beautiful and innocent. The queen? Jealous and envious. Then again the prince. Noble and just. Fearless. A story animated to appeal to the morality of the times.

More recently? The Princess and The Frog. What’s seen as good? What transformation does the prince have? Or Moana? What are her qualities, and how does her portrayal mirror societal values of the times? Ultimately our media only produces, what we as a society consume. It’s why critical thinking, self awareness and objectivity are so important. Also too why it’s fundamentally encouraged. At least in TRP.

I challenge you to find a somewhat popular piece of media from the 2000s to earlier that did not sell the blue pill narrative.

When red pillers blame Disney, it's not literally Disney. It's just a symbol for popular, family friendly media, that sells a moral message. But really it's everything.

Music, movies, cartoons, sitcoms. When I was younger, it all sold the idea of true love. You will find someone, you will love her. Because you love her, it's meant to be, and she will love you back. If she's with Chad, she will ditch him for how kind, and pure, and special you are. Worst case, she turns you down, but you go for the equally attractive girl with glasses instead, who was your actual true love. Romantic devotion is a good thing. She will swoon if you write her poems, give her flowers, and seranade her. It's a good thing to admire from a far for years on end, because she'll come around eventually.

This describes the plot of so many movies and TV shows that I couldn't count them if I tried. Even chick flicks sold that message.

Now you can say it's dumb to learn about love from TV. And it is. But where else is a 14 year old to learn about it? It's not like there are a lot of other movies showing the guy getting rejected, moping about it for a bit, then hitting the gym and moving on, before finding someone else. Maybe American Beauty? But that one still has a girl who flashes her boobs because a guy films her from across the street.

This message went on for decades. Simply because people didn't want to believe otherwise. It wasn't until this generation when media started wising up. Those who grew up with the wrong messages, started writing the right messages. Loveable douchebags win. Romantic obsession is creepy. Ripped shirtless bodies are hot.

Tbf I knew a lot of boys who took interest in Disney growing up, often because they kind of had to with sisters in the house. However, most of them were interested in the villains or more masculine and/or anti-hero characters like the Beast or Jack Sparrow. I can't think of a single boy who would name Eric, Prince Charming, and co. as their favorite characters, in fact they tended to aggressively dislike those types of characters.

Most Disney heroes are basically "nice guys" or at least don't have much of an edge to them (this is somewhat less true for the semi modern ones like Aladdin)...because it's a childrens cartoon/fairy tale. They're just all very handsome (well, as goes for lions and such anyway) and often wealthy or high status, at least by the end of the film. They're not really models of social "alphas". Often these movies emphasize "being true to yourself" which bequeaths victory and romantic rewards - but of course this is terrible advice for many guys.

I don't know why Disney gets so much focus here, but it's perfectly normal for young boys to watch Disney movies which are mostly just consumerized versions of traditional fairytales/myths that kids read about before the advent of movies. In any case I don't think it's an either/or situation, most kids can do both.

I suppose the point of this post is, it aint disney feeding young males the "grow up to be a nice clean tie wearing caring beta male and youll get the girl"....so the question is...WHAT is it that causes young betas to believe the things they do?

That was the model for mainstream social society for many decades. It's what their parents and grandparents believed. The "evolution" of society in the last few decades has completely demolished this model for social success, starting sometime in the later 60's - it's still somewhat applicable in the bourgeoise business world. Many of the men who are raising kids ARE the beta men who either got selected as compromises or increasingly are raising kids from out of wedlock/divorced moms and couldn't model social-romantic behavior for their kids because they themselves are mostly clueless outside of fulfilling the beta role.

I grew up with the notion that Disney = Little Girls.

I have NEVER been able to shake off that stereotype because the whole damned company brand was built on that premise. Disney was for little girls, they made cartoons specifically for that demographic: Snow While, Mickey Mouse, Little Mermaid, Cinderella, etc. All for the girls; while me and the rest of the boys were off watching Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles, Batman the animates series, Spiderman, X-Men etc.

Even today that is why it does not surprise me at all how Disney as a company is totally fucking up male brands and franchises. They annihilated Star Wars, and their one success with Marvel banked on the comic book fandom and milked the shit out of it for over a decade and now it is just a Woke ass husk and shadow of what the concept was supposed to be. You can only get so far with a company whose brand and ethos is a hard PG-13. Hell! 90's kids cartoons were more hardcore than this modern Disney Safe-Space Woke bullshit.

Hey now, I'm 35 and still watch Disney. My guy and I rewatched some of the classics just last week lol. Beauty and the Beast has great music.

What do you have against people eating cereal, masturbating, and playing videogames? That's a fun Saturday morning right there, my friend! Don't knock it just cause you don't like it.

As for why people blame Disney for blue pill stuff...idk. I guess it's just the easy thing to do, even though it makes no sense. They're a media giant so it's literally zero effort to take shots at 'em.

As a little girl the only Disney movie I could tolerate was beauty and the beast, in which the gorgeous girl falls for a hideous literal animal.

The rest bored me, the female characters were too weak, soft spoken and stupid and it felt unrealistic since my mom was always loud and obnoxious.

I have no idea how this is CMV rather than Discussion. No idea what the view is I have to challenge.

But as someone who grew up in the 70s to 90s, I would say that the message for men was indeed quite mixed. Disney is not really anymore relevant than anything else.

Nobody doubted that male appearance, status, masculine emotionality, game, etc. all mattered a lot. But there were lots of counter examples. And you had a feminist narrative at odds with the traditional narrative. Both were battling it out and it was unclear what was 'right'.

So as a guy, the mistake I made, was in thinking that things were somewhat 50/50 between the old and new in terms of what women wanted. This was possible to believe because the feminist narrative had thrown off our perspective on the balance between innate impulses and culturally created ones. Thus many of us believed that the culture was changing, and thus so were many women.

In a nutshell, a lot of us believed there were far more exceptions to the idea that women cared about looks, status, game, masculine behavior, etc. We thought that guys who didn't measure up there, but were nice, decent, kind, smart and compatible in terms of interests etc. could find more women than there actually were who valued these traits. And it wasn't just about ugly guys wanting way hotter girls. It was guys even wanting their looksmatches.

Disney does a good job at using basic archetypes and telling a simple story. That's good for children as you need to learn how to walk before you can run. Aladdin series really pushed the blue pill narrative on me in elementary school. In fact I played lots of video gmaes as a kid and Super Mario did the same thing too (must feel like a man to say Princess Peach lol...not Disney but same concept)

Well the reason is quite simple, we as men don't understand looks, especially when we're young and because of that it's pretty easy to misidentify the point. In a Disney movie the lead male is always a good masculine guy, he doesn't do bad and if he does he learns from it and becomes a better person but as we now know that's not why he gets the girl, he gets the girl because he's good looking but because we as men are focused on the "how to" we associate the success to the behaviour and not the looks.

When I watched High school musical with my sisters I never thought "Wow Troy Bolton is beautiful no wonder he's dating Gabriella" I thought "Wow Troy Bolton is cool and an awesome basketball player, no wonder he's dating Gabriella".
