Sure, the stereotype is that men are saviors and protectors, but a lot of women do know that they have far more chances to get help from other women.

Being serious though, I don't think that anyone should put themselves in a dangerous situation if they aren't sure they can win. It's noble, sure, but your close ones won't be happy if you die this way. You can call the police though or get more people to stop the attacker. Also it's good to have a pepper spray/a shocker/gun/whatever is allowed in your country and actually learn to use it.

I was in downtown of my city and these 5 ladies jumped the cashier in a restaurant I frequent. I only got it on video and with how the law is made, I’m a Black male hitting 5 women when the situation has nothing to do with me. The lady who got beat asked one of the other ladies who also worked there why I didn’t join in, is because how the law would see this situation isn’t In my favor. I also have to look after myself

I’m in Canada so the likelihood of someone being a batshit crazy gun nut attacking a woman in public is lower than it is in the US. That being said, you also gotta worry about being stabbed too.

A good friend of mine told me he always walks around with a switchblade for protection.

Above all else you have to protect yourself. You shouldn’t go risk dying playing hero for a stranger. We hear about the few successes but never about the many failures.

That being said there’s a big difference between risking your life to go save a woman you don’t know and just standing there recording it. The reason we see all these videos is because exactly that is happening.

Calling the police in that situation regardless of it being a woman or man in danger is really the only viable thing you can do. Getting involved puts your life at risk, even if you are a trained martial artist. In that situation yea dont get involved, but you know helping anyone(helping an older person with their bags for example ) if you are able to help them, regardless of gender feels nice for everyone including you. Still, when a girl sees a guy wants to help her she will probably see him as desirable, but some people abuse the favors people give them. That's where the problem is.

I think that people should at least call 911 on their phones. Other than that, putting oneself in danger for unknown people of either sex probably isn't a good idea. That's why we as a society employ law enforcement and security personnel.

I've broken up two fights in my life. One was two guys, where one fled with his buddies immediately after I stepped in. The other was two girls; after separating the one that was getting her ass beat, she ran right back and started fighting the other girl again. While it's never happened to me I know of SEVERAL men who have all told some variation of the same story. We all know how the story goes but I'm gonna repeat it anyway.

Man is beating up woman. Boyfriend, husband, baby daddy...it doesn't matter. Alcohol and/or drugs are usually involved. Concerned neighbor/onlooker/citizen either (a) calls the cops or (b) tries to intervene on her behalf. And what happens? We all know what happens. She tells the good Samaritan to mind his own business or tell the cop she doesn't want to press charges.

If I see a man whooping a woman's ass and that woman isn't related to me by blood or a close personal friend I'm gonna call 911 then go right on about my business. If it's happening in my neighborhood in the wee hours of the morning I'm calling the cops on both of them for disturbing the peace.

I was a bouncer for several years. We had a large front porch area leading down to the parking lot that was quite dark. We would handle any issues up on the patio with 4 guys but never went into the parking lot. Those idiots could beat each other senseless all they want. You would have people start fights, get stomped and their girlfriend would be screaming at us to help him. Like I wanted to risk my life for $18/hr to save your stupid boyfriend that started a fight. No thanks.

Now I live in SF and you see car break ins regularly. There was one with three guys with hoods and masks and people are screaming at the men around there to “do something” like I want to get stabbed protecting someone’s luggage.

Honestly should just be common sense. But like. Don't step in to any fight. I would even say hold back if it's a guy fighting. You don't know if the attacker has a weapon or if they're possibly part of a group and the others are waiting around. Not even commenting as part of this whole shitshow gender debate. Just call the cops and don't get involved.

I would feel guilty af if I was being attacked and someone else got hurt because they tried to help me. leave it to the police who are trained to deal with that kind of stuff. You don't need to die or get injured trying to be the hero.
