I just counted all the girls/women who I either dated or am fairly sure could have dated. It comes to less than 50. The last woman I dated has been my wife for the last 25 years and will be my wife until one of us dies.

Now if that hypothetical 100 men were all chosen from the inmates of a maximum security prison or were all Islamist terrorists, I can see your point, but 100 men chosen from people you’d consider your peers, if you couldn’t find one you couldn’t form a relationship with, I’d say that you’re unreasonably picky.

Even though both situations aren’t optimal, I think most people would prefer knowing a bunch of people they aren’t attracted to want them, rather than knowing nobody, including unattractive people, want them. There’s at least some comfort in knowing that multiple people out there want you even if you don’t want them back. Meanwhile knowing absolutely nobody wants you will make you feel outcasted and very lonely.

Of course the level of empathy to be had would vary on the reasoning behind not wanting any of the 100 suitors. If the men are all losers, then that’s fair. But if some aren’t good enough because they have a big nose or something while otherwise being good men, then I think to say that it’s the same thing as a man having 0 suitors is a bit absurd. Saying no to a gold ring because you want a diamond is not the same as someone who can’t even get a chunk of coal.

I’m not assuming this is your situation or anyone’s here. But knowing some of the very trivial reasons some women will reject men, including myself, I doubt it’s only a small minority.

Choice is the key difference here.

Being able to decide that none of your 100 suitors are good enough is vastly different than not having any options to choose from.

I refuse to believe ya’ll can’t grasp this. Everyone has faced a desperate situation before and had to make the best of their situation. Having no choice is objectively worse than having a choice, even if the choices are poor.

One key difference is that you can still casually date and keep your social skills up to date for when you meet a suitor you really like. For many men the opportunities to engage with the opposite sex 1 on 1 outside of a formal context is sporadic.

Additionally if you have 100 suitors in your current network, it stands to reason that expanding your network will net more suitors (if 100 guys you know like you, it’s pretty likely you’ll meet more guys who like you as you meet more guys) - some of which you might like. For a guy with zero, who isn’t meeting anyone’s threshold, it’s less likely that expanding his network will do much for him.

I think a very logical response to show that idea making no sense is to point out that even 100 bad options gives you a chance for something to happen if you change your mind, while 0 options doesn't. She may not like all 100 options, but if she actually put in some effort to message and talk to these guys, she probably would find some of them are better than her initial and initial superficial assessment.

Lots of couples who are married who met in person wouldn't have even matched online, and they will admit this. A woman rejecting everyone probably has options among the rejected she likes, but she needs to change her approach of just eliminating them for just not liking a picture or something else basic

It has a lot to do with hope. When someone has 100 bad suitors, they at least know that it's possible for others to find them attractive. And if it's possible, then one day a suitable suitor may find them attractive.

But with zero suitors, there is no hope. How can a suitable suitor ever find you attractive if NO ONE finds you attractive?

So the question really becomes, would you rather live with hope, or with no hope? I think it's a little absurd to say living with hope and without hope are the same, but you do you I guess.

The same only in the way of being undesirable. The argument I see here is that 100 is a better situation to be in than 0, which fundamentally is right back to the base argument of "woe is me, I have it worse than you." For no other reason except to fuel some need to win... absolutely nothing.

It's worth having a conversation about the legitimate issues that come with both situations. Men who are isolated, depressed, ostracized, rejected, talked down on, insulted, and everything that comes with the poor mental state that develops as a result of being unwanted. Women who are harassed, assaulted, exploited, objectified.

Some of the men from the 0 camp think being wanted is all roses and unicorns. Try having stalkers, having someone grope you because they're entitled, having someone suggest you do X in order to make a living/advance, being reduced to your labor and sex, being assaulted young by relatives and trusted authority figures. Women will tell you that this is what comes with 100 unwanted people.

But people who don't get attention and want it only think about the good attention.

Someone I had a lovely discussion with the other day told me - and I expanded on a simile.

Men are starving in their home during a snowstorm. They have no food, but a few maybe expired cans in the bottom of the pantry. Women have a house full of rotten food during the same snowstorm. Men may come across one thing they can eat for the entire week, they’re starving and would welcome rotten food to eat something. They eventually become less hungry as their bodies adjust to lack of food. Meanwhile women have a house full of rotten food. Food they can technically eat, but all of it makes them sick. They’d kill for an expired can that doesn’t give them diarrhea or worse, kill them from food poisoning and dehydration if they pick the wrong rotten food. Perhaps there is a scrap or two they can scrape away to have something decent to eat, but it’s not satisfying and only leaves them hungry.

Men want sex but have no options, women want partnership but have 100s of sex options. I’d say if men get a girl attracted to them, their chances of a relationship are high. If a man “settles” for someone “beneath him” he can make her his wife pretty easily. Women can find sex but long term companionship? No. They’ll fuck, but date? Not a chance. Even men “beneath” her. I will site the men who broke my heart when I looked how I looked and was fully feminine dream - homemaker and caretaker - young, dumb and dying to please my man. And they still broke my heart. Claiming “they weren’t ready to settle down with someone like me,” they “didn’t think we were that serious” and “you sleep too much.” I’m not as hot and not as much of a doormat anymore and that’s when I found my match.

Average men and women typically find someone. It’s like 97% of men have been married at least once by the time they’re 75. Less than 3% of men will not marry ever and some are by choice. Think LTR where they die together but never got married. Women get married at the same rates. No one has it worse. We each have privileges and obstacles the other doesn’t have when it comes to dating. Men will never understand how women have to be a bit more wary of SA, pregnancy and murder. Women will never understand being how being treated as intrinsically dangerous, largely ignored and treated as expendable and incompetent feels either. I think we can find some common ground here.
