So I gave my crush a card the other day. In it I explained my feelings and asked her out. She took it home and read it and told me this morning that she’s not really looking for a relationship.

I really felt like we had a good connection. We talked for a long time in person, we went to go see a movie and she took me to meet some of her friends at dinner. A couple times she subtly touched my arm. Then she offered to leave her friends and walk me down to catch the last bus. She hugged me before I left which wasn’t the first time she did that. So although I’m not exactly experienced in this, I was feeling like she was sending mixed signals which was a big improvement from other girls sending absolutely nothing...

I know the healthiest thing I can do is move on but it’s so hard. I had really fallen in love with her, and we hadn’t even been on a date. She was so much fun, I really enjoyed talking with her, wandering aimlessly around the city with her, basically I enjoyed doing absolutely nothing with her.

She did say that she really hopes we can still be friends. And I absolutely want the same thing. But it scares me, to think that one day, she might find a guy that’s not me. I know how selfish that sounds but I don’t know if I could watch her fall in love with someone else.

So apologies for the rant I guess, it does feel good to get it all out. I don’t know what to do now. Well I mean I guess I do, I’m just afraid to move on.

EDIT: should have mentioned, we are friends, have been a long time (and hopefully will remain that way)

I understand that a card may not have been the best choice, but I did it for a few reasons: I thought it would be sweet, she could read it in her own time and privacy so it would be more comfortable for her, and it made my intentions very clear - a genuine long term relationship.

I can say with 100% certainty, that both of us (although yes we may have sexual desires sometimes) are not looking for sex. We are those marriage before sex people. Don’t judge.
