There are multiple reasons why people are voting for Trump and there are a range of reasons why men are also voting for Trump. However, I think there is one big factor that the mainstream media doesn’t get. This is that Trump has no shame.

In our society, it’s 100% OK and common to shame men. “real men do this, if you don’t do that you’re a pathetic excuse for a man” etc. Can you imagine if the genders were reversed here? It would not be tolerated. Height is a parameter on dating apps and women openly shame short men. Good luck getting a dating app to put down weight. If you behave a certain way that women don’t like, they can imply that you have a small penis size, or that you are not getting laid. We could do on and on, but the shaming of men is pervasive, and the double standards are obvious. Every guy I know, knows about these double standards, and doesn’t like it, but the best they can do is crack a joke about it. Then Trump comes along. They try and shame him and I just doesn’t phase him. When he was called out for calling women fat pigs, he looked the commentator in the eye can just said “only Rosy O’Donnell”.

On the flipside, the Harris campaign is trying to get men to vote for her by, you guessed it, shaming men with her “are you man enough to vote for a woman” move. Obama came out and wagged his finger at black male voters. On a political/policy note, I want Harris to win. But it’s going to be bitter sweet if she does, as it reinforces the zeitgeist to continue to shame men. If we don’t stop shaming men, any role model who doesn’t have any shame will appeal to men.
