I think most men have more to offer than women really pay attention to. The fact that they don't observe or value the things that men offer doesn't mean they don't bring things of value.

Women have unfortunately been sold a bill of goods when it comes to relationships and life generally. They don't even know what to look for in a long-term partner. Everything is focused on how you make them feel in the short term. Are you funny? Are you tall and handsome and make her heart flutter? etc.

These are not things that make for a good relationship. They make sex hot and steamy, but LTRs are about helping each other when you get in a car accident, or many other troublesome turns in life.

I've always been the kind of guy to bring soup to my partner when they get sick; to make sure that they're taking care of themselves; and to generally be there to make up for anything they might forget. That's the same thing I want in a relationship.

It's not valued properly, and it's hard to even tell what kind of character someone is when you first meet them. So, it makes sense that women primarily focus on what their eyes can see.

However, it did not use to be this way. People use to understand that marriage was a big commitment, but a really valuable one. People had help trying to pick someone who would be there.

People don't get feelings because of what you have to offer. The problem very much lies with the social decline that has been going on a bit before most of us were born.

This is why there are plenty of average and below average men and women are successful, because they not only put themselves out more but also know what to do.

We are still not quite at the point where its that bleak. Almost half of zoomers aren't dating, but the 4 generations before them still pair up at a high rate. It seems clear to me that new technology has destroyed the ability for about 30% or so of young people, both men and women, to fall in love. This results in the pill ideologies and gender wars. This is more pronounced in certain regions like NYC or LA. NYC in particular has been known for a "transient" dating population for decades. It's mostly missed where I live in Chicago where the majority of young people are still coupling up. You can almost draw a perfect line between "population of professional influencers living in a city" and "percentage of young people incapable of falling in love." Chicago isn't a big town for influencers (which isn't to say they aren't out here). It's no Miami, LA, NYC, other cities in FL and CA.

It’s less that they don’t have anything to offer, and more that there’s one BIG thing that leading a decent life and raising a family hinges on. And it’s just the way it is. How is a woman able to feel safe and aspire to have a family with a man who can’t support her? Even if she WANTS to work, she still needs the freedom to not HAVE TO work and raise her kids if she has to.

Relationship offerings are innate when you’ve found the right person. I think I can speak for most women when I say that we want consideration, emotional intelligence, kindness & generosity from our male partners. Of course no one wants to date a slob, but looks come secondary to how men make us feel. If you have the ability as a man to make your family or friends feel seen, safe & comfortable, then you have a lot to offer a woman in a relationship.

I think with current family law this is accurate. If a woman marries a man, what else can he do for her? She already will get his stuff. I think if family law were updated to reflect what each party brings to the relationship this would not be the case.

But yeah, if the courts are going to take stuff from your partner when you leave, then the obvious strategy is to keep leaving partners.
